I know for a fact that it is not a difficult language to learn (Koine Greek).
This made me smile.
Working to learn Greek resulted in my going home after class many times with the oddest of headaches - I concluded that God was rewiring my synapses! Apart from Him I can do nothing, especially learn Greek.
For others it was much easier.

We can learn all the Greek we want and study to we are blue in the face, without the Holy Spirit it is for nothing.

Some explanation is needed I guess.
I think I mentioned a priest theologian I know that speaks 6 or 7 languages.
He taught the Hebrew and the Greek somewhere in the middle east..can't remember.
He was willing to teach me Greek a few years ago...
HE said it was an easy language to learn...
maybe copared to other languages?
I didn't mean to imply that it didn't require any work/study.
Sorry if that's how it came across.

I did .. You are the evidence
Just as God will use YOU as evidence for His determination of His Judgement.
Some listen to advice and learn from it or try to change or become better.
Some double down and don't desire to learn anything from life.
It's the sin nature in us.....
when it is not subdued.

Had to look up the word synapses.
Had to smile.
My daughter and I have always said that persons that could learn languages
have a different brain compositon than others.
Went to a Mika concert last night in Bologna.
He speaks many languages...he learned Italian in 6 months to be on a show here.
A normal person doesn't learn much in 6 months - no matte what those ads state.

Not at all.
Languages can be much simpler for some, but I'm not one of them.
When visiting my wife's family in Europe, the extent of my interaction in their language without her translating is 'good morning' and 'good night'. Makes for a long day in between.

I do want to add this to the conversation Qt.....
A person living in New York City, for instance, could learn Greek very quickly.
I know for a fact that it is not a difficult language to learn (Koine Greek).

But it will never be understood as a native would understand it due to cultural differences.
Unless a person lives in a country where the language is spoken,,,some nuances will always be lost.

I admire those such as yourself and @studier who have spent so much time studying the language of the bible.
The reason I admire you is because I know how much time and study it takes to really understand these huances without
having lived in a Greek speaking country. This, of course is addressing hermeneutics.

And, yes, it does take a scholar to understand the bible through the original language.
Most of us cannot do this and must rely on harmonizing all scripture -which is what I attempt to do to the best of
my ability.
Hey my friend,
I am not a scholar, @studier is on another level than I. I wish someone like him lived next door.

I love the Word of God and have been studying the original languages since the 90's informally. I know a lot praise the Lord. And If I post something in respect to the Greek it is true. But it doesn't come easy at times.

So no you don't have to be scholar. You just have to have the desire and know that the resources are out there free and devote the time.

May the Lord our God continue to bless as we devote ourselves to His mighty power,
amen

A bit of a leap in logic and aggressive. but par for the course here.

Our Text tells us that shepherds become negligent and worse. My comment concerned the current state of teachings and teachers and denominations... Check on Scriptures having to do with false teachers, ear ticklers, and such combined with the fact of battling systematic theologies, and...
It's not a leap in logic, for those of us who believe that God is sovereign over every aspect of His creation. We believe that noting can happen apart from His will.

The current state of teaching is the same as it's always been, there have always been false teachers. But the good news is, that God has always been building His Church and extending His Kingdom, in spite of the enemies efforts to destroy it.
The Bible confirms, that it's impossible to deceive the elect of God. But God does give false professing believers, over to the enemy and they are indoctrinated with the doctrine of demons.

I do agree we are seeing the world sink deeper into depravity as the day of Christ's return approaches. We are told the world will be as it was in the days of Sodom and Gamora. Gods people are not of the world so this doesn't apply to us.

Jesus saves us from our sin and sin is the transgression of the Law of God, so there is a direct connection between our salvation and being a doer of the Law of God and the key is to correctly understand what that connection is and is not. I do not like the phrase "saved by works" because it does not bring clarity to what that connection is or is not. If I affirm that we are saved by works, then I am not taking the position that we are required to have first done enough works in order to earn our salvation as the result, but if I deny that we are saved by works, then I am not taking the position that there is no connection our salvation and being a doer of the Law of God.

We do not lose or regain our salvation every time we sin or repent, but whether someone can lose their salvation if they deliberately turn their back on God is another issue. In Titus 2:11-13, the content of our gift of salvation is described as being trained by grace to do what is godly, righteous, and good, and to renounce doing what is ungodly, so if someone is participating in that training in obedience to the Law of God, then they are intrinsically being saved from not participating in that training, but if they then deliberately rejects the content of their gift of salvation by doing what is ungodly and renouncing doing what is godly, righteous, and good, then they are no longer being saved from not participating in that training. Someone who is participating in being trained to experience doing something does not always perfectly do that, but they are heading in the right direction through faith, and repentance is about heading in the right direction, not about perfection.

If we needed to have perfect obedience in order to become saved, then the forgiveness of our sins would have no value, but rather forgiveness is why we are not required to have perfect obedience. Repentance is more than just feeling bad about something, but about rectifying it and redirecting our lives towards heading in a different direction. If we needed to perfectly embody a character trait in order to have it, then no one would have any character traits, but rather someone having a character trait means that it characterizes what they believe about the way they should act. There is a spectrum between someone just feels bad about not doing something and them perfectly doing it throughout their entire life.
Old Testament
“And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, And rose up from Seir unto them; He shined forth from mount Paran, And he came with ten thousands of saints: From his right hand went a fiery law for them. Moses commanded us a law, Even the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭33:2, 4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

New Testament

Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people. My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭51:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. ….He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭42:1, 4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭18:15-19

“For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:22-24, 26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:48-50‬ ‭

Ten rocks telling killers not to kill and idolaters not to make idols …… aren’t going to judge anyone’s soul , Jesus will by the gospel and his word.

Well, yes, it was faulty logic. I never said I don't believe that God appoints shepherds. That's a simple straw man on your part.

The same God who gave the Law to Moses also sent Jesus as the promised seed to bless us by turning us from our wickedness in disobedience to it (Acts 3:25-26), so there is no disagreement.

You failed to make the distinction, between faithful teachers and false teachers. You can't just lump them together and claim they're all false teachers.

This is the only way to to prove you know God;
1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. This is the how you know God not with lip service!
