Oil isn't dead dinosaurs. I believe @ZNP can give you sources.
Oil is not fossil fuel, that is an error. Methane hydrates at the ocean floor move along due to plate tectonics and when the plate is pushed under a continental plate those methane hydrates are cooked into petroleum.

The way this was proved was oil wells that had been run dry had been plugged. But then when oil prices skyrocketed we realized those "dry" wells actually could pump out more oil at a profit. So we reopened them to discover that they had refilled.

I know. That's why I said it will never run out. All part of the carbon cycle.

@ZNP I never knew this before, this is news to me. Certainly new sciences after I survived school back in the late 90's.
But now what about the problem of pollution? I know with electrical arcs the burned fuel can be neutralized.

This what I wanted you to share with @Brasspen.

BREAKING: Iran's Oil Sites DESTROYED - Israel Targets Mojtaba Khamenei

Burning oil produces primarily carbon dioxide and water vapor along with heat energy.

The carbon dioxide is part of the carbon cycle, it is like fertilizer for plants and especially in the ocean we get more plants growing.
so neither of these byproducts are pollution.

It also releases harmful pollutants, including nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide.

However, these can be processed out in the refinery. So although there is no doubt that petroleum has released harmful pollutants before that result in acid rain, that is not something that they have to release. Those pollutants can be removed by a refinery.

and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Incomplete combustion releases particulate matter (soot).

Again, we have better performing engines that do not release soot.

This means the gasoline engine is saved. I thought it was doomed. Good thing I never told anyone to stay away from car mechanical work like I was thinking.

I still think an EV is better, because you can have a small power plant.

Bottom line, they misled us, did they tell us the truth? Some things were true but the message as a whole was a lie. Oil is not a fossil fuel. Now if you use it to make plastic and fill landfills, that is certainly an issue. If you use it to make pesticides and fertilizers and herbicides that poison the water and earth, that is an issue. If you are cheap about refining out contaminants and as a result get acid rain that is another issue.

But all of those issues can be addressed without trying to get rid of petroleum.

Well the battery can cost $20,000 to replace after 10 years. So you buy a $40,000 EV, after ten years you would hope it was still worth $20,000 but no, because it needs a new battery it is worth 0

I don't care if someone idle's their car anymore....
I remember smog in LA, it was horrible. I remember leaded gasoline and the various pollutions and harmful impacts. But now we have clear skies, no smog and this is a result of many improvements that have been made from catalytic converters, unleaded gas, cleaner gas, etc.

What about a buggy with motor and battery?
Horses have babies. If you have land large enough for a couple of horses to live on and if you can get by at 20-25 mph, I also would prefer a horse and buggy.

What was that cartoon from the late 80's and early 90's? The one with the robot horses? Galaxy Rangers?

BREAKING: 🇮🇷 Iran is launching missiles from its underground missile cities without launch pads or standard equipment. Virtually impossible to detect beforehand. GAME CHANGER

Reality: the number of missiles launched by Iran has dropped dramatically since the start of the war. How many Iranian ships and aircraft have been destroyed? Most, if not all of them. How many USN/IAF ships and aircraft have been destroyed by Iran? None. Iran's missiles are mostly shot down even before they get to the target.

If anyone expected a short, sharp war, they were kidding themselves. The regime is intransigent, deluded as to "Allah's" power and their own ability. Dealing with people who think of violent death as a good thing is not so easy. People routinely misunderstand the Muslim mentality. The US/Israel coalition is right to accept nothing but the total surrender of the regime.
