Good point. Forget who could be reading at times. Guess I should include disclaimers.

Just wondering about the divine discipline stuff and thinking back to some OC - Deut12:18-21; Lev20:9; Ex21:15-17.

Not sure about the Deut. reading but if I was to describe the difference between discipline (chastising) and punishment it would be to say the former is "to remove from the child" while the latter is "to remove the child from".

Within the context of the scripture you quote, the 5th commandment came before the punishment for disobedience. Discipline is designed to instill values and punishment comes when those values are repeatedly rejected.

You're saying that God leaves atheists alone?
But He chastens His own children.

As in the case of Pharaoh giving God's people grief unjustly?
Then God will deal this the offender.

Under normal conditions?
God leaves the unbeliever to simply reap what he sows.

Big difference.
God kills, yet knowing they will live with Him.

Even so...
Under the Law of Moses parents would take a reprobate son before the elders to be stoned to death.
Don't you recall that passage?

God will take home early certain Christians who willfully and habitually reject what He has made clear to them.

Did you not read what I posted about Paul's words concerning those who abused meeting together and partaking of the elements?
Paul explained that some amongst them became sick, and some even died for that reason?

Why did you not know this?
what makes you think I don't know it?

Actually was considering a few things related to discipline vs. others allowed to walk away.

Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink
from the cup. For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ
eat and drink judgment on themselves. That is why many among you are weak
and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep." 1 Corinthians 11:28-30

In their case? Of disrespecting gathering and partaking of the elements?

Weak and sick =
God's warning discipline to the believer.
Still time to repent and recover.

Have died? =
Let it be known to all what happens to those who willfully keep ignoring God's warning discipline.

If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray
and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin
that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that. All wrongdoing is sin,
and there is sin that does not lead to death." 1 John 5:16-17

.......

Do you ever question these connections?

How does the brother know when a brother is eating and drinking judgment trending beyond sick and has reached the sin toward death? Is the brother on his death bed in sickness getting carried into the party or something?

Ever wonder if it was a different sin than mistreating the eucharist - a more easily recognizable sin? Something recognizable they're being instructed not to make request for?

Ever consider that John may have discussed such sin in his letter?

Here it is....

How can a "brother or sister" refer to an atheist?

You stated God would give unbelievers a miserable death in post 9036.

Here it is:

God will not be mocked.
He will make it Hell on earth while living - and supplying no dying grace, as they will die a miserable death.

I was referring to the above statement of yours.

KJV Proverbs 1:7-9

{1:7} The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of
knowledge: [but] fools despise wisdom and instruction.
{1:8} My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake
not the law of thy mother: {1:9} For they [shall be] an
ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

I wish they would change the editing feature here and give us more time to edit after we publish. The reason I say this is i am sure you know your scriptural references are wrong, but probably did not see until it was to late.

Anyway, I understand why you saying what you are saying. If that was all there was on the issue you might be correct. But it isn't. Thessalonians speaks on what this second death is, It saysthe Lord In flaming fire will take vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. For they shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: This is the Second death. In flaming fire They shall be punished with everlasting destruction and the wicked one shall be destroyed by the brightness of His coming.

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

2Thess 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
2Thess 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
2Thess 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
2Thess 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
What I'm saying is that in this second death they will be punished along with the dragon, the beast and the false prophet, the unholy trinity which they worship as the holy trinity.

Still no reply to my scritpure.

And I'd love an explantion of HOW those in the beatitudes in Matthew 5 are blessed IF.

THEY ARE POOR IN SPIRIT
THE MOURN
THEY HUNGER AND THIRST
THEY HAVE BEEN PERSECUTED
You know, it had been universally observed that when a person is in their hay days, indulging in their affluence and pleasure, Jesus has no place in their heart. But when they're poor in spirit, mourn, hunger and thirst, have been persecuted, then they'll realize that they're desperately in need of salvation. Didn't Lord Jesus say that the healthy don't need a physician, but the sick?
But, I'd really like for you to go back,,,,post my scripture....
and then explain why you do not agree with it.
Scripture belong to all mankind, you're entitled to your interpretation, but not your ownership.

what makes you think I don't know it?

When you said this it left me wondering what you were getting at...

Parents chasten their children.
Parents will punish children who refuse to heed chastening.
Parents will kill their children for whom chastening was rejected...

You were misunderstanding what was said.

God does not give dying grace to any unbeliever.
Therefore, God does not deny dying grace to unbelievers.

My comment spoke only of reversionistic *believers.*

I'm not following your line of reasoning very well...
but, like I've said, this is not of too much interest to me.

As to reaping....
we all reap what we sow.

Unbelievers and believers.

You wrote that God will give to unbelievers a miserable death.

That's what you wrote.
I don't think I misunderstood you.

But it's not important to me to be quite frank.

If you wanted to purseu this,,,you'd have to explain why I misunderstood.

Sure.

But YOU said they were blessed.

You have not shown, with the above, that they were blessed.

But they will be blessed IN HEAVEN.

As I've pointed out to you previously,,,
REWARDS ARE GIVEN IN HEAVEN.

A person must BE IN HEAVEN...
in order to receive a reward.

You had stated that a NT passage was speaking about rewards and NOT heaven.
I pointed out that we need to get to heaven FIRST to receive a reward.

The passage was speaking about getting to heaven..
not getting rewards.

I don't have the copywrite to any bible.
Do you?

And really, no reply is necessary.

Sure.

Honestly, I don't believe anyone will go to heaven, because as I've argued before, all will go to the grave waiting for resurrection. Lord' Jesus's resurrection is a template for all believers to follow. And with that, I've hereby undermined your premise that "A person must BE IN HEAVEN".
