Sister, my advice is to do the bible study if you can find a good group. Pray about it.

What I think you should do regardless of your bible study group is to commit to reading the entire bible from cover to cover every year. I have been doing this for the past 6 or 7 years? It is very important to read it all for yourself. Remember, when we read the bible, the bible is reading us, I kid you not. Have you ever been reading scripture and one passage sounds like hey that's you! It's talking to me! That is called receiving a Rhema from the Lord. The "Logos" is God's written word, and Rhema's are the spoken word of God. He authored the bible so He has spoken every word of it. When we read the bible we are bringing ourselves into God's presence. The Bible will talk to you. It is the primary way that the Lord speaks to His people. It is the Holy Spirits job to lead us into all truth and He will do it when you reading it yourself.

Oh I forgot to write that reading the bible in one year is easy because you read 3 chapters a day on average. When you do 3 chapters it leaves you enough time to meditate on what you have read and pray and ask questions.

I'm here, I've just been reacting to everyones comments as i read them as there is a lot to reply to, - i appreciate all the feedback and I have taken on a lot from what everyones been sharing, I'm currently looking at places who offer Bible study.

Just while I'm here, i wanna say thank you to everyone who took time out of their day and were very informative and helpful and lovely, means the world, God Bless all. ❤️🙏 :)

Oh good, there you are.
Well, I just wanted to let you know that I enjoy helping with BS (;)),
so please feel free to ask any questions.

The most important thing is prayer.
Pray that God will place a desire to know and understand that is greater than anything.
Learn how to study. Most people do not know how to study.
What I do---
Put aside all that you think you know and allow the Scripture to teach you.
Get a good Hebrew and Greek dictionary so you can understand the original meaning of every word that is used.
Understand proper grammar----Who is speaking? Who is being spoken to? What is the subject being discussed? Why is the one speaking discussing this subject with these particular people at this time? What is the time frame, past present or future?
Understand the parts of speech and how each is properly used. Pay close attention to pronouns. Who do they refer to. To misunderstand who the pronoun is referring to will lead to a misunderstanding of the Scripture.
God gave us His Holy Word so we can know. It can be understood. It is easier for some than for others.
The more you properly study and learn the less difficult it becomes. Don't give up!!!
It takes time, effort, and a lot of prayer.
Take advantage of others. Study with them and learn with them and from them.
What I find useful is to understand the history of the time. What were these people dealing with, Political, society, economy, religious.

Take this scripture below

Authorized (King James) Version
Phil. 2:11-13

11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Olay, who does the work in the people that choose to believe God? I see, it is not us the people or religion is it?

Who leads, God or me or you? When will we decide to stand in trust to God over the self and others as well Phil 3?

Hi all!
I was raised in a Christian family but led myself astray for around 10 years before being saved by the love of Christ and I haven't looked back, I feel so blessed and more whole than i ever have in my life with a sense of peace i haven't experienced before.:)

My mother whom i share a very close relationship with, was over joyed when i shared the news about becoming a Christian and finding the Lord after all my troublesome youth of rejecting religious ideologies and such. - after the New Year i voiced the fact that i would like to learn more about the Bible and grow closer to God. - she suggested bible study, an all female group who gathers to pray, speak about God and primarily learn more about Gods word. - Even when i was atheist i studied and knew a decent chuck of Christianity but i still want to expand my horizons with more people who also live by it (possible social/friend group) - but i do have some social anxiety.

So basically i want o hear some of your positive or (negative:cry:) - to hopefully further persuade me to go with it.
Much love, and God bless!:giggle:
My story is very similar. Ten or so plus year I did my own thing, knowing better. Made my life messy, partly the social anxiety did get to me and prevented me from coming back. I’m glad someone can relate to my similar experience. I feel blessed to even be here. I hope you keep following your heart and grow stronger in your faith.

Most importantly pray to The father in heaven ! Ask him to give you understanding of his word , there are many deceivers today and he can protect you from them by taking heed to his word the Bible . Jesus warned in Matthew 24 and Luke 21 and I took him seriously when first reading the Bible . I can read the Bible without the help of any man . I Thank God for that . No one understands it all because it’s the eternal word of God . Some times I read it and it’s so amazing what I see because the Holy Spirit opens it up at times like a light , sometimes I just can’t put it down . Others have experienced this . There are many books about the Bible and some are ok but many are not . Stick with the Bible and let it be your bible . The fact checker. I have been reading it over 50 yrs and it’s better than ever to me . 2 Timothy 3.16 a very important verse to hang onto. May God bless you as you continue in his word , the truth will set you free , don’t settle for less .

Many of the threads I sponsor are Bible studies except when derailed by chasing rabbits.
They include Apologetics, The Kerygma, The Holy Spirit, the Teachings of Jesus (TOJ), the Teachings of Paul (TOP), Key OT Teachings, the Didache, Systematic Bible Study and Hermeneutics. My intent is to share what God has taught me since I began studying God's Word in 1967. Hope to discuss with you any questions you may have there or here.
LIC, GWH
