And
it's rather shocking to hear that if a person is living a moral life..
they are not also living a spiritual life.
Yep. The Catholics say that, the Mormons say that, the Jews says that and the religions of this world say that.

No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 2 Cor 11:14

Maybe the Catholics, Mormons, Muslims are right !!

Maybe WE are wrong !

I mean,,,are you really teaching on this Forum that we are not required to live a moral life ???

Yes sir.

Haven't YOU been living with YOURSELF??

I'm just trying to find
a decent melody
a song that I can sing
in my own company.

Don't you do this?
Hey, I like humor from everybody.

But I wouldn't mind a quick synopsis from you on the 1 Cor 3 passage:

11For no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, 13each one’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test [e]the quality of each one’s work. 14If anyone’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. 15If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet only so as through fire.

What do you think?

1 Peter 1:3-7 YLT
3) Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to the abundance of His kindness did beget us again to a living hope, through the rising again of Jesus Christ out of the dead,
4) to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and unfading, reserved in the heavens for you,
5) who, in the power of God are being guarded, through faith, unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time,
6) in which ye are glad, a little now, if it be necessary, being made to sorrow in manifold trials,
7) that the proof of your faith—much more precious than of gold that is perishing, and through fire being approved—may be found to praise, and honour, and glory, in the revelation of Jesus Christ,

We are tested to show whether we are true or not.

Much love!

1 Cor 3 is not about doing good works.
It's about missionary works...how Paul and Apollo are laying a good foundation for missinary work and how others would follow.

They are laying the foundation...which is Jesus the Christ.

Others will have to build on this foundation...
some will do a good job...
some will not...but no matter how well they do,,,even if their work is hay,,,they will still not be judged harshley because they will have done their best.

Verse by verse:

1Cor 3:4-6
4Forwhen one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,”are you not mere men?

5What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one.

6I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.

Pau land Peter and James and all were sent on a mission to begin a newchurch/Church.
Here Paul is speaking about himself and Apollo doing this very work tha tJesus had commanded of them.

Paul did his part of the job...Apollos did his part of the job.

1Cor 3:8
8Nowhe who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive hisown reward according to his own labor.

Each will receive a REWARD according to his labor.
A reward for good work done....

And what was that work?
To till the ground....

1Cor 3:9
9Forwe are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.

Paul calls himself a master builder...
he was building the church/Church

1Cor 3:10
10According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it.

Paul was building the foundation of the church: JESUS

1Cor 3:11
11For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Future builders may not be as masterful...they will build with wood or hayor straw.
or maybe they will be and will build with precious stones.

Their work will become evident by the growth of the church,,
by fire the works will be tested and rewarded.

Those that will grow the church with wood, hay or straw will have their work burned up because it did not produce
alot,,,,but the person himself will not be lost...he will be saved, but as through fire.

it's rather shocking to hear that if a person is living a moral life..

Unbelievers can be very moral.

And, conceited about it.

Luke 18:11-12

The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

I mean,,,are you really teaching on this Forum that we are not required to live a moral life ???

No, he is saying that living a moral life doesn't automatically mean one is living a spiritual life. Many atheists/agnostics live moral lives. Spirituality and morality are two distinct states. One can be moral without being spiritual but one cannot be spiritual without being moral.

One in the same......The spiritual life.

Our good works GLORIFY Christ. Every divine good work is a missionary work.......He came to save.

We are all missionaries and all of our works are to testify of Christ.

Eternal security.......Glorifies and testifies of Christ. Missionary work.

OK

So then you agree that we are to do good works?

And you do not believe in greasy grace, easy believism.

This is good to hear.

Silly me.

I always have the idea that we're discussing believers on here.

You said that spirituality and morality are two distinct states.

THEN

you said that one cannot be spiritual without being moral.

WHAT CONFUSION!!

Well then... What is hard believism?

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Not really...

The Holy Spirit can not cause you to be immoral when you walk in the Spirit.

But, some people by nature love rules and regulations.
They will be moral in the energy of their flesh.

Their sins will be mental attitude sins. Not overt.
