Hello everyone, my name is Shari from Uganda and am 31 years.
I was born into a Muslim family, but by the grace of God, my life changed in 2014. Since that day, I have served God up to now, and for all these years, I have never turned back. God has truly been faithful.
My background was difficult. I was born into a family where there was witchcraft and misunderstanding. My mother struggled to have children and went to witches seeking help. Later she conceived, but she was told she had to sacrifice her children or sacrifice herself.
That night, my mother ran to a prayer mountain and gave us to God instead of giving us to darkness. She denounced Satan and became born again. People called her a mad woman because she always took us to church.
We were supposed to be nine children, but seven died, and only two of us survived me and my brother. Later my father divorced my mother, and life became difficult. During that period, my mother passed away. My brother and I were taken to live with our aunt because my father had remarried.
Later, I ran away from home and started my own life. That is when I started becoming someone I was not raised to be. I started clubbing, joined modeling, drank alcohol, and slept outside. I began living a life far from God.
I became a well-paid model. I did not fear to walk half-naked on stage. I appeared in video productions and dated men of all kinds. Many young girls looked up to me and were inspired by my lifestyle. I had money, but I wasted it without purpose. I was proud and arrogant, thinking I had everything.
One day, I wanted guidance about what business to do. A friend told me about a man of God and encouraged me to go and ask him to pray for me. I went, not knowing that this meeting would change my life.
When I met the man of God, he humbled me with his first statement. He told me, "You are a servant of God, and this was your mother's wish before she died. You also know that your mother loved God."
I was shocked because he did not know me. He told me I needed counselling and guidance because my ways were not pleasing to the Lord. He reminded me how my mother used to take me to the prayer mountain and how she gave me at the altar to serve God.
From that moment, something began to change in my heart. In 2014, I gave my life to Jesus, and my life completely changed. Since then, I have served God faithfully at True Vine Communion Ministries in Uganda, and I have never turned back.
Today, I share my story to encourage someone. No matter your background, God can change your life. If He changed me, He can change you too.
And life serving God is also another story to tell for it was not easy for me to settle down easily.
