A coworker asked for prayers a while back because she lost her adult daughter to fentanyl poisoning. I suppose she was in her 40s. The parents knew nothing about her taking drugs.
BTW, do you know who the biggest pushers of fentanyl and deaths from that are?
The hospitals use fentanyl during labor and delivery and other surgery.
What purpose would one use it on a healthy teenager? It's not just about overdose, but misusung a drug just to get high.

Do you have evidence to back up your claims? If you are blaming the medical profession and pharmaceutical companies, you'd better be prepared to back it up. Fentanyl is also used extensively in palliative care so deaths are 100% in that case.
I've had fentanyl. I understand why it is highly addictive. I was suffering the most painful condition there is apart from childbearing. Oxycontin and morphine took the edge off so it was bearable. Fentanyl sent me into a state of euphoria such that I felt zero pain. I refused another dose. I did not want to get addicted.
Drugs can help in painful injuries like we've experienced just to allow for the chance to rest. I am grateful for those who helped.

In my last surgery, a combination of fentanyl and propanol were used as an anesthesia cocktail. I was fully awake and had no pain nor could I move for the entire two hour procedure. I sure could have used it for the two hour flat of my back recovery pain relief.

I think you do need to be careful of the dosage and only take as prescribed. It will usually be administered by a nurse not the patient themselves, self medication on this level is dangerous.

I agree, That's how it normally goes.
The assumption that most people have is that the nurses and Drs are benevolent human beings like they are, not infected by the love of money and their hospital standard for care (official and unofficial protocols).

I think it's very tempting for nurses or doctors to malpractice. Huge sums of money are involved when you dealing with pharmaceutical companies.
They also know all the side effects of the meds, and often do not warn or tell the patients...and then need to take MORE meds to counteract the side effects.
This is why many people have this distrust of doctors and nurses. Your life is literally in their hands.

MM well, having cared for my mother when she was ill and dying..I had to administer painkillers, and I was terrified I would accidentally give her the wrong dose and she needed round the clock meds.
She hated morphine, as it had bad side effect of constipation. Also it made her hallucinate, like she would say she could see ants crawling around when no ants were there.
We had to get oxycodone as the pain was so bad, but we had to get only a few at a time because it was a restricted medicine, and needed to be signed off in a special way because it was prescribed for very strong pain. Like she couldn't just take panadol/paracetomol (tylenol) she had to take meds on top of the panadol.
We tried codeine, tramadol, and morphine (severedol) before we got on to oxycodone and the pharmacy would sometimes run out of oxy. If she did not have it she would have been screaming in pain because she had cancer in her bones. It was terrible. I am not a nurse and couldn't be her caregiver 24/ 7 it was just impossible, though I tried for a week or so.
She at one point wanted to be put down (euthanised) like a cat. I am sharing this with you because I've been through it all and know what it's like.
When things got so bad needed to call ambulance or for hospice, things only calmed down when we got her into a private hospital, where the nurses would attend to her every single day and throughout the night. Like you need a whole team, and do her personal cares like feeding, showering, going to the toilet etc.
