We need it a lot !If we need it.
God is holy.
God is pure light.
God is fire.
We need it a lot !If we need it.
Yes.If only some of the kids here would do the same...
Actually, I've already asked us all to ponder Luke17 today.
I like how Jesus basically tells us we must have the only kind of faith God works with - one that obeys.
Did you find that some or many kids didn't listen? I did with older ones - up to about 60+ years old.
Sorry, I stopped reading after your first sentence. I am only interested in what God is telling me through His Word. Psa119:105Look pay attention to what I'm telling you
Yes, I agree we are not really saying very much different, I was being short in my response.I'd say that the Mosaic Covenant and the New Covenant are different in their method.
What the MC was missing was the Holy Spirit.
God gave commands, and the Holy Spirit was present throughout the history of God's revelation...
however, in the NC what changes is that through the death of Jesus the veil that separated man from God has been torn from top to bottom and now everyone has access to the Holy of Holies or Most Holy Place.
WE are the priests.
WE offer the sacrifice of ourselves to God...
our body is the temple and we can worship from anywhere...
the Temple has been destroyed but there is a new temple.
And now...the Holy Spirit is not only present...
but He dwells within us - providing the grace and strength necessary to walk in God's laws....
Tour Keepers and supporters of a binding Mosaic law love to use the verse where it says sin is lawlessness and that lawlessness is not following the Mosaic law therefore if you don't follow the Mosaic law you are sinning however the actual verse in context is referring to General lawlessness all societies Pagan or other have guidelines and laws and if you break those guidelines you may not be sinning as Christians understand it but it is bad@JayWalker, did you see my question to you?
Please clarify. Are you saying that those who disagree with works-based salvation and/or retention of salvation, are promoters of living in sin?
If so, how did you arrive at that conclusion?
MM
I musta made up all the others.
There is no Covenant called THE OLD COVENANT.
What is meant by the OC is the Mosaic Covenant.
But, whateva.
Are you referring to me??
First we had Prof. Google
Now we have Dr. AI
Well then your discounting that God can be speaking through people which is a way of shutting God outSorry, I stopped reading after your first sentence. I am only interested in what God is telling me through His Word. Psa119:105
If you would have led by this is what I have found in Scripture, not this is what I am telling you. There is a big difference.Well then your discounting that God can be speaking through people which is a way of shutting God out
You will not find one post of mine advocating to keep the Mosaic law. The Ten Commandments is the law of God Exo20:6 Written by God, spoken by God Exo31:18 its the works of God, not Moses Exo32:16, why we only find the name of God in the first four commandments on He asks us to love Him Exo20:6 and the saints keep them until the end Rev14:12 His version, not what man edited. Dan7:25Not to mention that the advice I was giving you would have brought you closer to God as opposed to blocking him out with the Mosaic law
Well I agree we should not be getting our theology from Google or AI I have yet to see where it's just lying to you deceiving you anybody got any evidenceThey were all under the old covenant.
Hebrews 10:9
Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
(God said He would make a New Covenant - see Jeremiah 31:31-34)
Hebrews 10:9

Yes, whateva in deed.
Are you referring to me??
Both are purveyors of false doctrine along with wisdom from the darkened mind of mankind
They got their degrees from Walmart on the romper room isle, right next to the diapers
It really helps if you actually understood the Mosaic law it's purpose scoping intent it also helps if you don't twist scriptures to match a heretical theology and more importantly it helps to understand what the New Testament was why it is different and what exactly was achieved by Christ on the cross then you can go back and understand why Paul says more than 40 times the Mosaic law is passed fading obsolete replaced by a more perfect lawHe didn't say not worship Him either but that was included in the Ten Commandments He was quoting from saying not to break the least of these commandments.
Can you point out where Jesus said-
Those appear to be your words not Christ's. something where God asked us not to add to His. Is it your view that God gives us commandments that He judges over that can't be kept? James2:11-12 Ecc12:13-14 Rev11:18-19 We have a very different view of God, my view is that we can keep the commandment of God through our love and the power of the Holy Spirit John14:15-18 because that's what the Bible teaches Rev14:12 However sadly many will not subject themselves to the law of God Rom8:7-8 and its not a good position to be in once He returns Mat7:23
At the death of Christ He took that wall of separation down, now both Jews and Gentiles can worship Him on the Sabbath just as He indicated His house would be a house of prayer for all nations- everyone who joins themselves to the LORD, loves His name and serves Him and keeps the Sabbath Isa56:6-7
Sure it is, if you love Me keep My commandments John14:15 Exo20:6 you will be hard-pressed to prove the 4th commandment is not a commandment of God.
Those again appear to be your words and not Scripture.
Another verse out of context I provided that here https://christianchat.com/threads/loss-of-salvation.215327/post-5717144 Keep in mind Paul taught everything must be according to Christ. Col2:8 Christ quoted the OT and said man should live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Mat4:4 So no Paul never countermanded Christ and Christ over and over again said to keep the Sabbath and not profane it.
Well you could be the first to actually do a Bible study on the passage I provided the context and show where there is error. Because one says so is not a really good argument.
Another statement not found in our Bibles. I can go through the covenant with you if you want but it still has God's laws Heb8:10 not new ones because God doesn;t make mistakes Psa 19:7 Psa89:34 Mat5:18-30, we do by our rebellion.
Here's the problem one person reads the scripture and believes it says something else because of presupposition and another person reads the scripture and believes what it says neither of them are going to come to the conclusion that their version of it is wrong and therefore many times simply throwing scripture out is not the way to answer the question as a person's interpretation of it is the problemI just can’t find your explanation in the Scriptures. I think it’s important to stick with the Scriptures as we are told. Isa8:20KJV
We probably are not going to agree on this topic and thats okay, I guess all will get sorted out in God’s time.
Be well.
Well I agree we should not be getting our theology from Google or AI I have yet to see where it's just lying to you deceiving you anybody got any evidence

They assume that without the Mosaic law we wouldn't know what sin is and that may be true but as referenced above societies have moral laws don't kill don't steal Etc it doesn't take a Divine God with a master plan and a mosaic law to come to the realization you shouldn't be killing people
That which you speak of intimates the meaning a living Word.I didn't know how many commands Jesus issued until you mentioned it just now. Bear in mind, though, I do not deny that Jesus issued commands or that Christians are obligated to obey them. In my mind, that has always gone without saying.
I take issue with those who suggest that we ought to carry out a command, whether we know why the command was given or not. Given that the Sermon on the Mount is a commentary on the Torah, we surmise that the purpose of the commandments is to illuminate the Torah, highlighting God's values, desires, and righteous character.
To illustrate the idea, I offer this parable that I heard in church by one of my teachers.
A father commands his son not to swing the baseball bat in the house because it can hurt someone or cause damage. From this commandment, the son learns that his father places a high value on human life and personal property. Suppose a fire starts in the house, and the son decides to break a window and jump out of the burning building. In this instance, the son disobeys his father's rule about the bat, knowing that breaking the window to save himself and others would respect his father's values.
The father’s rule about not swinging the bat in the house teaches the son something deeper than the rule itself: it reveals the father’s values — the protection of life and property. When a fire breaks out, the son breaks the window with the bat not because he rejects the rule, but because he understands the principle behind it. By acting to preserve life, he honors the very value the rule was meant to express. True obedience, then, is not rigid rule‑keeping but alignment with the heart and intention behind the command.
Jesus commands are like that.
Jesus’ commands in the Sermon on the Mount function exactly like the father’s rule in my story: they are concrete expressions of deeper values, not arbitrary rules to be followed woodenly.
They reveal what God cares about — reconciliation, purity of heart, truthfulness, mercy, generosity, trust, love of enemies, and wholehearted devotion. The point is not to obey each command in a rigid, literalistic way, but to be shaped by the values those commands express.
Just as the son honored his father’s intent by breaking the window to save a life, a disciple honors Jesus not by mechanically applying every line, but by acting in ways that align with the kingdom values revealed by the commands.
In other words:
The Sermon on the Mount is not a rulebook; it is a revelation of God’s heart.
Obedience is not rule‑keeping but living in harmony with the values Jesus is teaching.
Hopefully that clears things up.
Do you believe the Mosaic law applies to gentiles chritians. As an Israeli, I was raised with the Law, but have long since walked away from Messianic Judaism. The Law is indeed still in force as the indicting curse against unbelievers, as an instruction as to what sin is and a curse against those who think they are saved by living it...in addition to or in the place of Christ Jesus...and is therefore something very dangerous with which to wrestle in this life, even though it is holy.
So, given that some pagan cultures practiced murder being wrong, quite a number did not, so the arguments I've encountered out there with secularists in favor of the "basic goodness of mankind" are shown to be absolutely in error.
So, yes, it does indeed take a Divine God to show ALL of His moral absolutes that transcend time and culture. Murder is no acid test for the necessity for guidance within the lives of all people's. We are not under the Law nor its curse with our being filled with Holy Spirit...the Author of the Law.

Jesus is the Builder….Jesus is saying 'A' is like 'B', where something in the parable is similar to his target idea. In this case, the act of building is the same or similar to acting on what Jesus taught.
In the parable, “building” is Jesus’ metaphor for the entire process of shaping your life around His teaching, and “acting on His words” is the thing that corresponds to building on the rock.
Yes, only one acts on it, and the other doesn’t.Those 2 words are the only really difference.
They both hear.
It’s there!Note that the word that speaks of 'foundation' Matt7:25 is not mentioned or repeated in the 'not-doer' part.
The foundation is what He built, the gospel. If you make your house on a different doctrine, then it is not wise.Obviously the rock is Jesus Christ and the foundation is doing what He says.
Do you believe the Mosaic law applies to gentiles chritians.
I understand my question derives from my problem with theologies like Hebrew roots or SDA who believes that still today and also as far back as Genesis 1 the Mosaic law somehow has been imparted on everybody for all times even after the crucifixionIf you're talking about truly saved Gentile Christians, no. It doesn't, nor does it apply to Messianic Israelis. In Christ, we're all ⁹one and the same in relation to salvation through grace by faith alone in Christ Jesus, but in this world the distinctions remain.
As I had stated, it's unbelievers who are under the Law still, not the body of Christ. We're all dead to the Law.
