Because they walk in false doctrine and are not being led by the Holy Spirit and instead walk in the darkened wisdom of religious mankind who does not accept all of God's Word.

The devil has been know to, for the sake of deception, allow his false ministers to seemingly do miracles to remove something the devil brought on someone.

The devil can and does put things on people just so a false minister (like a catholic priest) to remove it by praying for the purposes of deceiving others in to believing catholics are the true church which they are not.

The devil would have interest in doing such because the end result is people following catholicism and they end up going to hell.

The devil is very religious but his religious teachings are in opposition to the Doctrine of Christ and are deceptive being designed to lead people stray be tricking them in to believing they are walking with the Lord Jesus but in reality they are walking with the devil and end up spending eternity being tormented in hell.

Why would the Lord Jesus make the 'if Satan cast out Satan' argument in Matthew 12 if demons were likely to fake being cast out? I wouldn't say it is impossible. Witchdoctors, I hear, make deals with demons-- stop doing this to the person, then the person gets cancer or makes some kind of offering to the demon. That's a little different.

Why would the 'children' of the Pharisees be able to cast out demons. Were they more correct in their religion than Roman Catholics or Lutherans in your opinion?

And those who come to Jesus in that day mentioned in Matthew 7, who say, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful works".... do you think they will have the gall to lie to the Lord in the judgment?

It's also possible that the Jewish exorcists in Acts 19 might have had some success before the sons of Sceva got beaten up.

There is power in the name of Jesus, even if not all those who use it are in right standing with God.

We walk by faith not sight or feelings. Pfft.. Baptist, Naz, Luth, Pent, AOG, WOF etc are of God. If they believe Jesus Christ came in the flesh died on the cross for the worlds sin was buried rose the 3rd day the only way to the Father. Yes about 2k years ago there was just Charismatic. That word to me means this "movement" emphasizes the active presence and gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues, prophecy, healing, and other supernatural manifestations described in the New Testament. You don't like it .. tell Him

That is the sweet holy Spirit. There is no middle ground here. We made that up "middle ground". Some want Jesus amen but only part of Him not all the rest (speaking in tongues, prophecy, healing, and other supernatural manifestations). That "rest" as some said here "not of God". Satan can not create, his lies are based on a truth. Even Christians ask "if that is of God prove it. Show me a healing . blah blah blah". 2k years later still asking Him.. "if you really are"... they will not believe.. always asking for a sign. He said "then believe the works that I do". Today those works are made fun of.. by the world and Christians. You hear so much on what so and so did never all the good they did for Christ.

So blasphemy.. what had just happen? " demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see." That is what they called "not of God, of the devil". Does this happen today? Yeah .. then they double down.. no no not talking about the holy Spirit. Yes you are.

I'm not sure if, in this case, it’s appropriate to use 'being blind' to describe how some people attack the work of the holy Spirit—essentially, they are just blind to it.. Christ said if you were blind you would have no sin. You say you see your sin remains." In my view they are making fun of Him the Holy Spirit. Again to have a lie a truth has to be there first. Pffft.. let me touch that.. for something to be a lie, it implies that there is an objective truth or reality that the lie contradicts or distorts. Without an underlying truth, the concept of a lie loses its meaning because a lie is essentially a deviation from what is true.

For me.. sweet sweet holy Spirit.. you take your shoes off and you walk very very softly.

Why would the Lord Jesus make the 'if Satan cast out Satan' argument in Matthew 12 if demons were likely to fake being cast out?

The devil is known to put on a show for the purposes of deceiving people

In other words satan is not really casting out satan being divided against Himself which is what Jesus was speaking of.

No, the devil can put things on people and then remove them in such a way that it appears to be a miracle to deceived people in to following false religious institutions such as caltholism

Why would the 'children' of the Pharisees be able to cast out demons.

The Pharisees were of the devil so any appearance of them casting out devils was not actually casting out devils and would be nothing more than a show the devil is putting on to make people thing the Pharisees are teaching truth and people should join up with them and follow them - all of which is being done by the deceive to deceive people in his attempt to get them locked in to following false doctrine so in the end they go to hell

And those who come to Jesus in that day mentioned in Matthew 7, who say, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful works".... do you think they will have the gall to lie to the Lord in the judgment?

There are times when a false teachers or a tare is ministering to someone who genuinely want to know the Lord who is genuinely seeking deliverance from the devil and the Lord moves in their behalf.

This is something the Lord would do out of His grace for the person seeking deliverance and in know what is a sign that the false teacher or tare is right with the Lord.

We have to remember that Lord is always ready to move in behalf of those who genuinely want to know the Lord who is genuinely seeking deliverance from the devil. He came to destroy the works of the devil.

There is power in the name of Jesus, even if not all those who use it are in right standing with God.

Yes, but those who are not in right standing with the Lord are not walking in faith and as such the Lord is not obligated to hear their prayers.

Paul was also a Pharisee.

Do you believe Jesus was wrong when He asked them by whom their sons cast out demons?

Paul was also a Pharisee.

Do you believe Jesus was wrong when He asked them by whom their sons cast out demons?

Yeah, and then Paul got born again and became a child of God.

Jesus was making the point that they were not of God and were wasting their time trying to cast out the devil using the power of the devil since they were of the devil and not of God.

Mankind has a certain amount of authority on his own apart from God to try and resist the devil as we see in the world today where man is doing his best to stop bad things from happening although they don't know it's caused by the devil.

So even if the pharisees were able to seemingly cast the devil out it's not like the devil is actually going to leave them alone since they belong to the devil having rejected the Lord.

@JayWalker

Yeah, and then Paul got born again and became a child of God.
After Paul had been preaching for years, when he saw the council that was trying him was made up of Saducees and Pharisees, he said, "I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee.' So he still claimed it. And in Acts 15, there were some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed, but they were promoting Gentile circumcision, so they aren't the best examples.

Jesus was making the point that they were not of God and were wasting their time trying to cast out the devil using the power of the devil since they were of the devil and not of God.

Why would Jesus say the opposite of what He meant, instead of saying what He meant? He didn't say they were wasting their time. He asked them 'If I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out?'

As we read the Bible, let's change our beliefs to conform to what God has revealed and not try to do the other way around.

Balaam is a type of false teacher, and he usually resorted to divination, but the Spirit of God came upon him and he prophesied. Caiaphas was plotting the death of the Savior, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that one Man should die for the people.

he said, "I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee.' So he still claimed it.

Yeah for the purposes of appealing to them to obtain favor so they don't whack him.

Jesus told the pharisees they were of their father the devil, so are you claiming Paul was a servant of satan too???

If he was then all his writings must be removed from God's Word pronto.

Why would Jesus say the opposite of what He meant, instead of saying what He meant? He didn't say they were wasting their time. He asked them 'If I cast out demons by beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out?'

And yet Jesus is not saying these people were in right standing with the Lord now was He?

Yes, Jesus told the pharisees they were of their father the devil so you should believe what Jesus said.

Unless of course you are here to advocate that Jesus taught false doctrine and the pharisees were teaching correct doctrine?

That would make you of the devil like the pharisees. Are you a follower of the pharisees?

Do you think he was lying then?

That's your reasoning, bro, not mine. I assume you follow Paul's writings, too.

It is extremely unlikely that the Paul was among the Pharisees that Jesus addressed in John 8, or that the Pharisees who were believers in Acts 15 were in that crowd.
If he was then all his writings must be removed from God's Word pronto.

Jesus told those Pharisees that they were of their father the devil in in John 8. But that's just children of the Devil. He called one of his disciples in John 6:70. Yet in Matthew 10, Jesus is included among the disciples who received authority to cast out devils.

There is power in the name of Jesus', even if some who use the name aren't walking right with God. Generally, the power of the Spirit works through the saints, but there are other times where God does as He pleases without fitting our general expectations-- like prophecies through Balaam or Caiaphas.
Operating in even genuine miracles or spiritual gifts is not a guarantee of eternal salvation.

Balaam is a type of false teacher, and he usually resorted to divination, but the Spirit of God came upon him and he prophesied. Caiaphas was plotting the death of the Savior, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that one Man should die for the people.

Why don't you pray and ask the Lord to show you if you have a bit of pride, whether your ego is hurt if a brother corrects your doctrine just a bit, shows you something in the scripture, that you lash out and accuse like that. No, I'm not going to follow Balaam. But I have studied about him in scripture. There are many warnings about being a scoffer in the book of Proverbs.

Jesus told the pharisees they were of their father the devil, so are you claiming Paul was a servant of satan too???
Yes, Jesus told the pharisees they were of their father the devil so you should believe what Jesus said.
If you look at the context of the passage and who was being spoken to where Jesus said " Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." John 8:44

It begins with "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; " John 8:31 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? John 8:33

Jesus responded, " I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you." John 8:37
"Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God." John 8:41

@JayWalker
I stand corrected. I relied on fuzzy member and JayWalker's comment. The Pharisees are mentioned earlier in the chapter. This passage is about 'the Jews.' My message is new, but not new enough since five minutes has passed, apparently and I cannot correct it. So you all have my apologies.

I have heard commentary on the book of John, or maybe the whole New Testament, that 'Jews' can refer to ethnic Jews, residents of Judae, and the leadership of Judea. Christ Himself was a Jew, and I don't take this passage to mean that all Jews were children of the Devil.

There were Pharisees in Matthew 12 with Whom Jesus had the confrontation about casting out devils and the issue of blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

I assume you follow Paul's writings, too.

Actually I follow the Lord Jesus and do not believe Paul did not make some mistakes as some suppose he did not placing him on the same level as Jesus Christ who have made Paul in to an idol as they engage in idolatry

Jesus told those Pharisees that they were of their father the devil in in John 8. But that's just children of the Devil. He called one of his disciples in John 6:70. Yet in Matthew 10, Jesus is included among the disciples who received authority to cast out devils.

Point being those who either reject the Lord, or who turn away from the Lord are servants of satan and as such they cannot cast out demons because they are working in conjunction with demons being led of demons.

Judas was not always in opposition to Jesus. He was in right standing and walked with the Lord when the Lord gave him and the other disciples the Holy Spirit which is when they got power to do miracles and cast out devils.

Then later Judas turned away from the Lord and became corrupt and satan entered him and used him as one of his servants to do evil.

God could do that, but as a matter of doctrine if we teach God is moving thru servants of satan that is false doctrine and it encourages some to continue walking in darkness believing the lie that they are still blessed of the Lord as they walk in darkness. They are not.

Why don't you pray and ask the Lord to show you if you have a bit of pride, whether your ego is hurt if a brother corrects your doctrine

But the "brother" did not correct the Doctrine of Christ which does not teach that those in opposition to the Lord are blessed by the Lord. The pride is over on your side.

There are many warnings about being a scoffer in the book of Proverbs.

Yes and it's high time to cease scoffing at the Doctrine of Christ.

The Lord does not appreciate that sort of thing.

We can't really know that about the timeline of Judas exactly. Since there is a reference to the feeding of the 5000, John 6 may align with Matthew 14. Jesus said He had chosen 'you twelve' and that one of them was a devil. He sent the 12 out in Matthew 10. But he said later of Judas in John 17 that none of them was lost but the son of perdition that the scriptures might be fulfilled. And the scripture Peter quoted about the one who ate bread with me lifting up his heel against me was written much earlier. The verse about Satan entering into Judas is in Luke 22:3, which is some time later after John 6, around the time of the last supper.

I think the issue here is that you shouldn't make up doctrine. Like saying stuff like this, "Point being those who either reject the Lord, or who turn away from the Lord are servants of satan and as such they cannot cast out demons because they are working in conjunction with demons being led of demons."

That sounds really black and white. But can you say that Balaam was walking right before God at this time,
Numbers 24
1 Now when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he did not go as at other times, to seek to use sorcery, but he set his face toward the wilderness. 2 And Balaam raised his eyes, and saw Israel encamped according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him.

3 Then he took up his oracle and said:

“The utterance of Balaam the son of Beor,
The utterance of the man whose eyes are opened,
4 The utterance of him who hears the words of God,
Who sees the vision of the Almighty,
Who falls down, with eyes wide open:
(NKJV)

Look at Numbers 22:32
And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me:

So Balaam's way is perverse or reckless before the LORD. Can you say he was walking right before God? Why could he hear God, and why could he prophesy? He normally used sorcery but we see in Numbers 24:1-2 that on this occasion, the Spirit of God came upon Him. You can also look up Caiaphas prophesying in John 8.

The general trend is for those who are prophesying to be walking with God. The same with workers of miracles. But there are exceptions like this.

One of the lessons to learn from it is if someone does miracles or prophesies, that doesn't mean they are walking right before God. God can work through imperfect vessels, even vessels who do evil if He so choses. And those who operate in gifts can sin also.

Regarding Balaam, he knew that if Israel was faithful to God, God was on their side, so he concocted a plan with Israel's enemies to use women and fornication and meat offered to idols (Baal of Peor incident) so that Israel would fall under judgment. So he took his spiritual knowledge and used it in enticing Israel to sin. That's something to consider when looking at warnings about the way of Balaam, that and the desire for money, in the New Testament.

The idea that God's supernatural power can never work through someone living unrighteously or doing unrighteously just does not line up with scripture. It may help people understand when some preachers fall into sin also. We should not make our own doctrine. This can also help Christians no better than the accuse the work of the Spirit if those who had operated in spiritual gifts in the past fall into sin.

It is important to accept what God has revealed in scripture on these things, and not stick to our guns with an oversimplified view of the world... that doesn't line up with the word of God.

I have heard commentary on the book of John, or maybe the whole New Testament, that 'Jews' can refer to ethnic Jews, residents of Judae, and the leadership of Judea. Christ Himself was a Jew, and I don't take this passage to mean that all Jews were children of the Devil.

Ultimately, ANYBODY that rejects the Lord or who once walked with the Lord and then turned away (like Judas) is a child of the devil.

In the end we shall all find out that from the Lord's perspective there are only two kinds of people - those who have accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior who are actively walking after the leading of the Holy Spirit based on God's Word (those in agreement with Him), and those who reject him or have turned away from who are now living in darkness as servants of the devil (those in opposition to Him)

It's really that simple:
those in agreement with Him
those in opposition to Him

Now, if a person is young in the faith and still learning and growing in their walk with the Lord and find themselves in sin, they need to confess and forsake their sin fast (repent) and stop sowing to the flesh which causes them to be corrupted and start sowing to the Spirit so they can once again reap Life. (see Gal 6:7,8)

It's a trick and a trap of satan for people to claim one can never lose their salvation - these people doing so are speaking in behalf of the devil and are the tares Jesus warned us about.

There are only two camps people can be a part of during this life - with the Lord, or against the Lord.
We are either walking towards God in agreement with Him, or we are walking away from Him in opposition to Him.

Those that actually love the Lord will see to it that they remain walking towards God in agreement with Him and won't be making excuses for sinful behavior which is what the tares do as this is the assignment they have received from their father the devil regardless of how "christian" they appear to be.

We can't really know that about the timeline of Judas exactly.

All we need to know about Judas is he was once in agreement with the Lord walking with Him and then he turned away from the Lord and because a servant of satan.

We know he was not a servant of satan when Jesus gave him the Holy Spirit as it would have been a sin to give the Holy Spirit to a servant of the devil.

There are only two camps people can be a part of during this life - with the Lord, or against the Lord.
We are either walking towards God in agreement with Him, or we are walking away from Him in opposition to Him.

The one who operates in gifts like tongues, interpretation, prophecy, gifts of healing, or the working of miracles should be careful not to tell himself, "I am operating in the power of God. Therefore, my life must be righteous." and justify areas of sin and compromise in his own life. Followers who see a miracle or hear a genuine prophecy, then see an area of compromise with sin in the life of one who has operated in these gifts, needs to realize that operating in gifts of the Spirit to not guarantee that the man is walking right with God. And we all are to watch our life and our doctrine closely. Paul had done miracles, but he kept his body under submission lest he become a castaway.

All we need to know about Judas is he was once in agreement with the Lord walking with Him and then he turned away from the Lord and because a servant of satan.

Jesus breathed on them and said 'Receive ye the Holy Spirit' and told about the enduement with power not many days hence AFTER the resurrection. I think most of us would think that Judas had already hanged himself.

But the Spirit of God did come upon Balaam when he prophesied. Also, look at these verses about Saul and the sequence in which they occur.

1 Samuel 16:14
But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.

1 Samuel 19:23
And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

I think the issue here is that you shouldn't make up doctrine

I think the issue here is that you shouldn't continue rejecting the whole counsel of God.

Jesus said He had chosen 'you twelve' and that one of them was a devil.

Yes, He said that after Judas signed on with the forces of darkness to be a member of team devil.

I think the issue here is that you shouldn't make up doctrine. Like saying stuff like this, "Point being those who either reject the Lord, or who turn away from the Lord are servants of satan and as such they cannot cast out demons because they are working in conjunction with demons being led of demons."

If you must believe servants of satan can be filled with the Holy Spirit than they's what you shall do - and you'll continue to be in error.

The idea that God's supernatural power can never work through someone living unrighteously or doing unrighteously just does not line up with scripture.

OR, they were functioning under the deception powers of demons as we see when Moses was in pharaoh's court

Just because God allowed demonic powers to seemingly do miracles does not mean they are anointed by the Holy Spirit and it was the Lord working through them.

Many times in the of testament what is worded as God doing something is actually the Lord allowing something to happen due to the people not being in obedience to the Lord who deserve to be deceived because they are sowing to the flesh (in opposition to the Lord) and so corruption comes their way.

God allows this sort of thing because He is not mocked, we man sows is what he reaps.
Sowing to the flesh reaps bad things.

Jesus breathed on them and said 'Receive ye the Holy Spirit' and told about the enduement with power not many days hence AFTER the resurrection

Judas was not present with the other disciples at that time.

Before Jesus went to the Cross He sent them out two different times and that was before Judas switched teams.

But I get it, you apparently believe a servant of satan can be anointed with the Holy Spirit in in right standing with God.

I'm not that slow to believe that sort of thing but I understand that others obviously are.

But the Spirit of God did come upon Balaam when he prophesied. Also, look at these verses about Saul and the sequence in which they occur.

1 Samuel 16:14

I see so you believe God is evil too and sometimes He does evil?

That's the false belief that God and satan are the same guy which calvinism falsely claims.
(they claim God wants evil to be done and He causes evil to be done because they are nutjobs!)

No, God permitting something is not the Spirit of Truth coming on someone to do evil.

As already mentioned, many times in the old testament what is worded as God doing something is actually the Lord allowing something to happen due to the people not being in obedience to the Lord who deserve to be deceived because they are sowing to the flesh (in opposition to the Lord) and so corruption comes their way.

But I get it, you apparently believe a servant of satan can be anointed with the Holy Spirit in in right standing with God.

I see so you believe God is evil too and sometimes He does evil?

I quoted two scriptures... that idea came into your mind, and you attributed it to me. Is that what you think those scriptures are saying? My point was that the evil spirit troubled Saul after the Spirit of the LORD left him, but at a later time the Holy Spirit came upon him that he might prophesy.

In Saul's case he was anointed... but with oil. Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit. I did not say that Saul was anointed with the Holy Spirit, but the scriptures say that the Spirit of God came on Him.

As far as 'evil' goes, I do not believe that God does 'moral evil' but God brought calamity on people at various times in scriptures. For example, God told the Israelites:

"15 And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee."

According to the LORD's words, who put the sicknesses upon the Egyptians?

I know there is some overly simplistic, 'spiritual kindergarten' thinking among some in the WOF movement, some NAR folks, even some Pentecostals and probably faith cure folks in the Holiness and other movements before that, that God is never responsible for any illness. If one doesn't read the Bible carefully (or pay attention, let it stick or comprehend) one might be able to believe that.

That's the false belief that God and satan are the same guy which calvinism falsely claims.

I'm not a Calvinist, but don't spread lies about them. I've never known any Calvinists to teach this.. Why don't you read the Bible?

I do wonder if you are a Kenneth Hagin fan. I notice that Kenneth Hagin would say to believe what the Bible teaches, but then there are all these Hagin fans who just unthinkingly robotically parrot Hagin's interpretations and other WOF teacher's teachings, even when they are illogicial, ridiculous, or obviously contradict scripture. Pentecostals have a bit more variety and aren't the unthinking fan-boy type, so the WOFers always seemed strange to me.

(they claim God wants evil to be done and He causes evil to be done because they are nutjobs!)

There is ra' which can be translated evil or calamity or something like that, which can be 'bad' from the perspective of the person suffering, without it being moral evil. There is rasha' which is wickedness. God does not do moral evil or wickedness. But He may bring righteous judgments.

I would give some advice, when you have a way of seeing things and then you come across scripture that doesn't line up with how you see things, don't stick to your guns. Take a step back and be willing to learn. If you try to make the word of God conform to your tradition, it is hard to learn.

No, God permitting something is not the Spirit of Truth coming on someone to do evil.

I think you are trying to process the verse about the 'evil spirit from the Lord' that came upon Saul. I don't have a problem with God sending 'bad' stuff on sinful people, including plagues on Ancient Egyptians. A lot of your comments are probably aren't issues that were the point I was making.

As already mentioned, many times in the old testament what is worded as God doing something is actually the Lord allowing something to happen due to the people not being in obedience to the Lord who deserve to be deceived because they are sowing to the flesh (in opposition to the Lord) and so corruption comes their way.

This is what made me think you might be a Hagin fan. There was this little booklet from Kenneth Hagin I read through once. Those booklets were his sermons someone transcribed. He said that sometimes some feature of the Hebrew could mean allowed rather than caused. It seemed like his approach to scripture was.

-- Don't look up the Hebrew passage to see if that grammatical category he was arguing for was present.
-- Don't search through other scriptures to see if it holds true.
-- Just assume the Hebrew means 'allow.'

It also breaks down if one actually examines passages of scripture, this isn't a defense for God never doing harmful stuff to people or taking responsibility for doing stuff that hurts people. Putting sicknesses on Egyptians hurt them (in line with God's justice.) If the Hebrew didn't mean God caused sicknesses to come upon the Egyptians, did God 'allow Himself' to put sicknesses on the Egyptians?

And drowning Egyptians in the Red Sea killed people.
Exodus 15:8
And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

So would you say that God just allowed the blast of His nostrils to harm the people? The 'allow' thing breaks down logically in some passages if the intent is to make God never do anything harmful to humans. I don't know if you have a problem with God actually causing people to drown in the Red Sea. I would not want to want to take away from God something He takes credit for.

In my experience, having been close to it briefly and knowing a lot of people in the WOF movement, and hearing a bit of sermons, MOST of the time when a claim is made about what the original Hebrew or Greek means in a WOF church, just from my perspective, it's flat out wrong or at least somewhat inaccurate. For example, I heard a sermon from a WOF preacher who said that when Peter walked on water, Jesus when Jesus said O ye of little faith, it meant faith that didn't last long enough.

But that's not true. If you see di' oligou at the beginning of a sentence or phrase, that's an expression that means that, but oligos in O ye of little faith means the faith is little.

And some of the stuff taught about the Rhema/Logos distinction breaks down with a simple search of the verses that use each word in a Strong's concordance. I knew a Classics (Latin and Greek) professor who was Charismatic who could really break down some of the issues with that. His theory was that the teaching started with Demos Shakarian at the Full Gospel Businessmen in the 1950s. That was a precursor to the Charismatics movement, or maybe the start of it really in the US. The WOF movement really ran with that idea, though there are other Charismatics and Pentecostals who have taught that also. There is something to the idea of being able to spiritual grasp God's word and not be dull of hearing, of course, but it doesn't align with how those words are used in scripture.

We are supposed to seek after wisdom and knowledge. Part of that will require opening up to in depth study of scripture and not just holding on to whatever ideas we already hold to (or have been taught) when it doesn't agree. If we do that, it keeps us from learning and can hinder growth.
