What’s it like where you are from?

I live in Southern California… it’s a nightmare, economically.
People come here because it has everything and great weather, only to find out that they can’t afford the California lifestyle that is portrayed in movies or what they imagine.
There are tons of homeless people here and gentrification is on the rise.
If you don’t own property, you will most likely be pushed out of California by gentrification and wind up homeless or worse.
Fortunately my family owns property here but the house market fluctuates like crazy here.

Growing up here was nice, besides all of the dark things that happened growing up. (I won’t share here)

I don’t recommend raising children here at all, especially in the public education system.

I know where I live has a ton of negative points, share some positive things about where you live…

I’m sure there are hidden gem locations none of us know about.

I worked for the enemy, Disney, a few years back over here and they had those DEI policies. I remember how they put us in groups by race and the disabled people had their own group. All of these groups had the word “pride” at the end of their phrasing. This was during the Biden administration and I had the assumption that they were trying to force everyone to accept homosexuality and the pride movement, which I wasn’t about to have any part of, so I left Disney and never looked back.

Good for you! Oh yeah, it's still around but many institutions and corporations have rolled that back. Those groups, numbering into dozens and dozens by now want to "include" every form of expression that targets "C" (Christian) as the enemy and ever turns from the conviction His Messenger bestows.

I’m just glad I was reading Exodus heavily while working there and God led me out of there fairly quickly. I did not feel safe at all working there, I knew exactly what they were doing and I just hid my thoughts. After I left, Disney and other big tech companies got a piece of my mind on LinkedIn, which got tons of eyes revealing DEI and Disney’s hidden agenda.

Pride everywhere, worked for city council, and they had DEI, and I felt like I was employed for those reasons. At first I thought yay they want me, but it turned out for those reasons, and felt shortchanged.

Wanted to escape slavery, so now am unemployed and things are getting better as it really did stress me out. Want to do what God wants and He's giving me a time of rest, so am leaning into that.

Positve things about Aucks -- beaches. I live out west, so has forest and wild west surfing beaches. People can be friendly when you get to know them. There are lots of events, and things you can do for free, and a buzz about it that you can find nowhere else. It's an isthmus, and there's dormant volcanoes, and lots of streams and rivers, and you can grow plants year round as don't get snow in winter. Maybe at most a frost.
When city merged the best thing was being able to visit any library and your card worked, though working in one was stressful its better to just be a patron.

Worked in schools (both public and private) and honestly depends on the Principal the direction the school is going in. Some schools had good reps, some had bad, poverty and class were issues in both. I didn't think too much about that, just cared about the children and their wellbeing.
Homeschool can be mixed bag, as important that children socialise/ learn how to get along with others not just their own family, and be challenged in areas outside their parents expertise, and not always be under their thumb.

I'm kinda tired when someone who's never been to my country, makes assumptions about it.
I've visited their's but they have not set foot here, so they don't understand where I'm coming from. Not even on the map for some people. Literally.

I live in pa but close to ohio. I like the school districts in pa better. The housing market is lower than anywhere else in the country, although definitely higher than it use to be. Point being that people can actually afford housing here. Idk how people realistically afford 500k and above housing. Taxes are terrible and we have a business so they're terrible with that. I'm a teacher and pa is for teachers. I think pa pockets most of the tax money though. Pot holes are terrible until election time.

Ohio has cheap gas prices so we get our gas there. Ohio has some of the best state and national parks imo. Stores don't last as long as pa. Housing market is also affordable. Schools are not that great in Ohio typically.

Was a nice place till all the CA refugees started moving here. Now it's nothing but gangs and drugs. Shootings almost every day.
Lots of S.O. around as well.
