1 Corinthians chapter 7 -Don't be tempted by sexual immorality for every man is to have a woman to wife and every woman is to have a man to husband. God and Jesus Christ promote love and romance. From Adam and Eve to the songs of Solomon our God and Jesus Christ support romance and love.

I am aware of that, God did give the command in Genesis to be fruitful and multiply. I know The miraculous conception was in line with the fulfilling of the messiah I think that was the exception to the rule.

I think that between Genesis and Timothy, that having a family is a Godly virtue, a God sanctioned institution like marriage or education. I was actually surprised when i did a study on friendship and found out that in itself is a ministry.

Well I get that, I think the point of Genesis is that if your spiritual needs are being met you don't need physical intimacy. But the physical intimacy is in parallels the icing on the cake.
It wasn't a commandment (not in the ten commandments)

It was because He wanted the earth filled, and that was His purpose for creation at the time. We are many thousands of years later than Genesis.

Sorry, but you can believe what you want...but I don't really buy your interpretation of scripture. The conflict between Adam and Eve is as old as time from when the Battle of the Sexes began.

Jesus stated that your friends are your family. Those who follow the Lord and do His will are like his mother, brother and sisters.
No marriage necessary.

True but a command is a command even if not written in stone, the stone tablets were the establishment of civil and criminal law.
Right and the solution to the battle of the sexes is a mutual unconditional surrender (marriage). lol

mm not really, its more of a curse that Adam and Eve had. Married for the rest of their lives, Adam having to work and Eve having to bear children! Her desire for her husband to rule over her, even though he was foolish and didn't protect her.
Adam had back breaking work to till the ground, he could no longer just pick the fruit off any tree. They were banished from the garden remember.

Well I see it that way. You probably think marriage will be glorious. I know it's not so. Honeymoon maybe, but you can't honeymoon all the time, it has to end at some point and then you get on with life.

Besides, you mentioned how you didn't like your parents a lot, were they married? What happened.

well I get that it was curse for Adam and Eve, but I assume it's a generational curse that follows humanity through the ages.
Well yes and no. I get that it will not always be a glorious bed of roses, but the companionship of someone would be a great asset,

Well, they got divorced when I was 13, my mom decided to sleep with another man who was also married, my mom kicked my dad out, her lover left his wife, everything went down hill from there. I remember after her lover moved in with his kids, my mom came to me and asked about missing presents one christmas. The year they divorced is the year she told me their was no Santa, no easter bunny or any of those other pagan deities.

Wot?
That's terrible.
Although she was right about the Easter Bunny and maybe Santa. Can I ask what happened to your Dad after her was kicked out, are you still in contact with him?

I think companionship is a good thing, though its basically friendship and doesn't have to be a marriage.

Pagan deities do exist, but in the pagans imaginations.

Well he found a few other girlfriends, one he lived with for about 20 years, she passed away, left him $20,000 then his landlord entered the picture, bled his money while she squandered it on house repairs, weed and lottery tickets while letting her bills go unpaid, she sold the house, gave him $200 out of the over $50,000 she owed, he lived with me for the last 6 months of his life and died 2 days after his birthday 3 years ago at the end of 2022. Well I did go visit him last month, we burried one of his brothers on top of him and his last brother will share the same grave as my dad and my other uncle.

I agree, but to have kids and family marriage is a requirement.
Well a pagan deity is a false god.

To make it legal yes
otherwise for many people, well in NZ they just live together, and after 2 years it's considered the same as marriage, just defacto relationship.
Am not condoning it, just saying, that's how most people roll. They don't consider marriage to be the be all and end all. And as like your parents, marriage doesn't prevent people from having affairs.

I don't think it can be legal between my mom and her current boyfriend
He was friend to my Uncle Danny (my dads side of the family).
He was my cousins cousin, (also dannys ex wifes side of the family).
Ahh I see, and yes I understand that.

People would just call it illegitimate, and any children are called bastards (I'm not being derogatory, that's in the Bible)
When a couple get married, it's said to the man that he's making an honest woman of her. Otherwise they would have to lie. 'oh no, we are just friends'

I recently started going back to church (that's another story!) and I noticed that my church has a ton of groups and different ministries. They have groups for seniors, children, youth, young adults (18-30), young families, marriage events, Alpha, teaching groups, special needs kids, community outreach, etc. They have a lot and that's great! But there's one glaringly obvious group that's been left out. Singles over 30. It's as if we don't exist. And I'm not just talking about my church, all churches I've been to and have looked at attending in the past have absolutely diddly squat for singles.
I know we can join bible studies and such, but it's annoying when every other life stage has specific events and meetings for them but singles are forgotten.

What has been your experience with your church or previous churches and their attitude towards us "elderly" single people?

Second question. What are your thoughts on meeting a potential mate at church?
Personally, I believe as single Christians we're probably not going to be meeting our future spouse at a bar, so that's not really an option. And we all know online dating is pure torture. So where are single Christians supposed to meet each other?
This is because anything in the bible on romantic relationship is built upon marriage, "man shall leave his parents and join his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." Not girlfriend or friend with benefit, not even fiancee, but WIFE. But how the two married in the first place? God joined them together. How? Throughout history, marriage was mostly arranged or semi-arranged (such as through matchmaking), free love and dating are a relatively modern phenomenon from about the 60s, it's been the norm for decades, but now it seems to be broken in the age of dating apps and loneliness.

So that raises the question - what God joined together, let no man separate; but when God did NOT join together, what then? The church has no answer for that, usually they'll either ignore it or tell you that your other half will come, which is just a pie in the sky.

Thats because no woman wants to end up being a Sarah and giving birth at the age of 99

Or how about not giving birth at all? God cursed Eve with painful childbirth in multiplied pain, after all. The only guaranteed way to avoid that is to not get pregnant and not give birth in the first place.

Gen. 3:16, "in pain you shall bear children," you determine whether it's a curse or not.

God just punished Eve with painful childbirth and being under the thumb of her husband, Adam.

The ground and the serpent were directly cursed.

It's only now we have drugs/epidurals or caesareans under anasethetics that most women can actually have babies safely without screaming in pain. Most women need to go to hospital to give birth in case anything happens because you can actually die in childbirth from complications.

If you have a homebirth just make sure you have a trained midwife available to help ease you through it and help before and after the birth. Some husbands just wouldn't know nothin' bout birthin babies.

What women traditionally called 'the curse' was actually menstruation. I mean its not talked about mostly that every month we women bleed! Guys..do you bleed between your legs every month. Blood can be gushing out like a haemorrage at first! Would you like to go through that every month?!

(It's not actually curse, it's a natural thing for our bodies to do, but we do need to wear something to absorb the blood. Sorry to be graphic.)

Today most women just call it having their 'friend' lol
Or we say it's that time of the month.
I mean in the Bible there were rules about that. Go look it up.
