because whether you can see it or not, those artists are helping to save some.
some who are in darkness or who are truly rightfully angry because of years of abuse. many reasons why, but God can get their attention with christian music in a style that expresses their particular season of soulish darkness.

If the goal and purpose of Christian music is to reach the lost and save souls, then why do the vast majority of Christian artists operate exclusively in the Christian bubble? Why are they preaching to the choir?

If music is just music and should be judged on its own merits, why don't Christian artists compete with secular artists for the attention of the masses? Some do, sure, but not many compared to the huge number of Christian artists that never do.

CCM fans keep applying this idealistic mission for these artists and this INDUSTRY that is really just lip service. It's about money first and foremost. If they happen to reach someone along the way, then whooppeeeeee

That is not bringing the world to God, that's bringing God to the world. Watering down or changing the message or setting it to dark music to make it palatable for nonbelievers. It's like running a church that says homosexuality is A-OKAY. It's ego... false teaching... leading people to an image of God that isn't real and will not save.

No...not just because my pastor said so. But my pastor DID go in and looked into the secular realm and he saw alot. He observed, he listened....there are extremely bad hidden meanings behind a lot of secular music. and they are being imprinted into teen's minds. Seriously.... One sings glory to God, the other does the very opposite. Any questions?

Pastors are busy people. They can't just get on a Christian chat site and waste time debating with people who won't even listen.


But I have a question for you. How are hymns better?

You seem to think that I am one of those people that says only traditional hymns are acceptable music, which is why I pointed out it was obvious you weren't reading what I was saying. I never said anything along the lines of traditional hymns vs. contemporary music.

I will say, though, there is a GIGANTIC difference between 'Christian music' and 'Worship music.'

Christian music is marketed and sold. The artists tour and sell t-shirts and everything else. They have to shmooze and kiss butt to get coverage on radio and media. They're fronted huge sums of money by their labels that they have to work off and pay back, just like the secular business. They're like secular artists in every way, except their audience will contain Christians and they're more likely to play at churches than frat parties.

Worship music is included in a worship service. The artists can make money and they can even tour, but they aren't pretending to be secular music. They aren't pretending they're trying to reach the lost, but if it happens, then right on. They doing what the name implies- worshiping God.

without Christian music we wouldn't have any music then? Your making no sense man. All the genres are taken from some kind of secular sound, no where in the bible does it say our music genre determines how holy we are.

dude.. you obviously don't know, plenty of the bands I listen to have went on tour with bands that aren't christian, and lots of these Christian bands even preach! Think about the lost souls hearing about Jesus.

But here's the thing: secular music tells you to do whatever you want to do. It even slips in stuff of the occult....including satanism. In music videos, the artist will be in the shape of a goat. Including in one of Rihanna's videos. Madonna (however you spell that person's name) came up on a CROSS with a crown of thorns and a drop of blood on her forehead in the starting of one of her concerts. Lady Gaga has a lot of nudity in her material...her lyrics are just as bad. And goodness...don't get me started on old 50-70's rock. Secular music gives people a completely different message. In no way shape or form does it give glory to God.

Christian music? It praises God and sings how great is our God! And He reaches for me, and that it's not about what you've done, but what's been done for you, it says His love Endures forever, and how He loves us, and how He lifts me up when I am weak, and that I'm never alone, so blessed be the name of the Lord! He's changed the way I do everything! And I can relate to it, how I don't wanna go through the motions, I don't wanna live one more day, without His all-consuming passion inside of me, so I'm gonna light my candle, and go tell the world that Jesus lives! It's gonna save someone's life.

Money schmoney. They have to get an income somehow. It might be a ministry, but also sorta is a career. Stuff has to be paid off, too. You think they can just go around doing that stuff for free?

They are the exception, not the rule.

I totally see the value of having your fans bring the unsaved people to the show in the hopes something will resonate with them.

But again, if the desire or mission of the band is to reach the lost, then why isolate yourself to the Christian scene? Why not get out there where the lost people are?

Yes, they can.

Maybe not on a massive scale, but it's like Benny Hinn requiring millions to travel the world and spread his gospel. He could be a missionary and spread the gospel for next to nothing. But that's not really his goal, is it? Not exclusively anyway.

not everyone who walks into your church on Sunday mornings is saved either. they do get out there to where the lost people are, you are not getting the point. The devil has blinded you so much... and he's using you, against other Christians.

not everyone who walks into your church on Sunday mornings is saved either. they do get out there to where the lost people are, you are not getting the point. The devil has blinded you so much... and he's using you, against other Christians.

Yes. Oh my gosh. Lady Gaga... I believe she is a false prophet. She claims to know christ, but yet in reality she doesn't know Him at all.. and doesn't this matter all boil down to the fact, that if someone listens to Christian music, it doesn't determine their salvation.? IT DON'T! TRY TO SAY SO? WELL SHOW ME THE VERSE!
