Thought it be educational to find old testament scriptures that point to Jesus and show it in the new.
Not so much a metaphor but a direct reference, to help those that might someday witness to Jewish people.

Pro 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell

Jhn 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven

Mrk 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm

Mat 14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty

Yes, that is what I also do in the thread about Key OT Scriptures.
Here are the first two from the first chapter of Genesis:

GN 1:1-3.God created the heavens and the earth” by saying “Let there be…”, so the supernatural world manifests the Word of God in an impersonal way. As Paul teaches in RM 1:20, “Since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” And John says in JN 1:14, “The Word became flesh [human] and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

The scientific “big bang” theory regarding the origin of the universe is quite compatible with the biblical story, theorizing that just before the expansion all matter in the universe was compressed into a “singularity” of energy or “light”. However, the point of GN is not how the world was created or how long it took, but who created it and why. It is concerned with metaphysics rather than mere physics.

There is no reason to believe that the “days” in GN 1 must refer to 24 hour periods, because 2PT 2:8 says “With the Lord a day is like a thousand [or a billion] years”, so it is permissible to believe God created the world using whatever methods taking however long scientific data seem to support.

GN 1:27. God created man in his own image, male and female. Here we have the equality of the sexes expressed 3,000 years ago, because the word “image” obviously refers to God’s personality rather than to sexuality. Essential equality is confirmed in GN 2:22 by Eve’s creation from Adam’s rib or side to be his partner rather than from his foot to be his slave.

Although all of Jesus’ twelve apostles were male, many of his disciples were female, and Paul writes (in GL 3:38), “There is neither… male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” In EPH 5:21, Paul added “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”

Again, current scientific theory based on genetic research is that humanity descended from one couple in Africa about 50,000 years ago, which is compatible with the biblical story of Adam and Eve, which has two accounts, neither of which is meant to be scientific or historical (explaining how and when), but rather theological and moral (God is Creator and people are sinners).

Folks can believe the earth is young or old, but Scripture per 2Pet. 2:8 allows folks to agree with current scientific evidence
that it is billions of years old.
If future scientific discoveries indicate the earth is only 6,000 years old, that will be fine with truthseekers.

Not at all!! God spoke everything into existence. The Big Bang is a man-made construct.

-There is no reason NOT to believe in a 24 hr. day.
-To speak something into existence from nothing is already not scientific.
-again, man-made constructs don’t fit!!
-You either believe in what He said, or you don’t!?!

-Yes, Jew and Gentile, male and female are all one in believing in Christ.
-However, females are not to stand up in a podium and lead preaching; we are to keep quiet during worship.

Who knows where those ancient, old bones ended up post Noah’s flood? Lol

Curious, what does that Scripture have to do with the subject?

Hello @God-fearing, here are a few verses/passages that came to mind.

Psalm 22
16 Dogs have surrounded me;
A band of evildoers has encompassed me;
They pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I can count all my bones.
They look, they stare at me;
18 They divide my garments among them,
And for my clothing they cast lots.
Isaiah 53
5 He was pierced through for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,
And by His scourging we are healed.
6 All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him.
1 Peter 2
24 He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.
25 For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
Matthew 27
35 When they had crucified Him, they divided up His garments among themselves by casting lots.
John 20
19 When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
20 And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called aDidymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”
26 After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.”
27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.”
28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”

Psa 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Jhn 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

Not necessarily. The Big Bang may be what occurred when God spoke the universe into existence.
Scientific study is a good reason to believe God took longer than a literal week, unless God is tricky.
Interpreting Genesis 1 and physical science to be contradictory is a man-made construct.
You either believe one or the other or you believe both by harmonizing them.
Again, what God said is manifested by physical creation as well as by Scripture, so they should not be divorced.
I agree you females should keep quiet during worship and listen to what any ignorant man says. :LOL:

Well, if you did not like the two passages in Genesis, here are two from Exodus for your consideration.

When Moses was called by God, he asked God to reveal His name, and God’s answer is our next key teaching.

Exo. 3:14. God is “I AM” or the source of our awareness of existence. Thousands of years later Rene Descartes (d.1650) became famous for saying, “cogito ergo sum” (“I think, therefore I am”), which expresses the fact that our own self-consciousness is the only truth that we know with certainty. Otherwise we walk by faith regarding ultimate reality and even scientific theories or assumptions and mathematical facts or axioms.

After Moses led the Exodus, he received the Ten Commandments from God, which for our purposes we will consider as one key teaching.

Exo. 20:1-17. God requires moral perfection (cf. Deut. 5:6-21). Of course each of the Ten Commandments is important, and Jesus affirmed many of them in the “Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5:21-48). The key point is that all commandments teach us to cooperate with the Lawgiver, whose moral will was not ended or rescinded by the death of Messiah.

There are additional moral precepts, such as those found in EX 21, 22 & LV 18-20, but most of the other Mosaic commands are either part of the sacrificial system or instructions for treating various health problems.

Jesus taught that God’s standard is perfection (cf. LV 19:1), and he clarified that the Sabbath was made for the sake of humankind (MT 12:7f.), perhaps so they would have a day to rest and worship God. However, Paul indicated (in Col. 2:16f., cf. 1Cor. 10:23&31) that we should serve God every day or continually, and both he and Jesus explained how the perfect “rest” is attained (Paul in 2Thes. 5:16-22 & Phil. 3:7-9, cf. Heb. 4:9, and Jesus in Matt. 11:28).

Isaiah 7
14 The Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

Isaiah 9
6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and upon His Kingdom, to order it and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Matthew 1
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.
19 And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned ato send her away secretly.
20 But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
21 “She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
22 Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet:
23 “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US.”
24 And Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife,
25 but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus.

Luke 1
26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth,
27 to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
28 And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.”
29 But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was.
30 The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.
31 “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.
32 “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;
33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”
34 Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?”

35 The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.

Not necessarily. The Big Bang may be what occurred when God spoke the universe into existence.
-The BB started from some spark.
-God’s word created all things through Jesus w/o the spark.
-The BB evolved all things, which didn’t happen. It’s not even logical!!

And that "spark" or "singularity" (the ONE) was God.
Science seeks to understand how the created universe came to be in its present form,
and as a man-made "construct", it is open to being reconstructed as new facts become known.
It seems to me that anyone who believes GW created both physics and Scripture would want to harmonize them.

Evolution is a separate topic, although it is similar because it also does not explain how life was created,
but it only theorizes that it might have developed from a single source since the DNA is similar,
and yes, it too is fallible, but not necessarily atheist if one believes God guided the process.

We all need to understand that Genesis does not try to explain how physics works,
but rather why the universe was created and how humans should live.

No, there is zero harmonizing by those who ignore what God reveals via science,
whereas we truthseekers consider both types of revelation.

And you ignored me saying that the "Spark" is God.
IOW, He created things from Himself.
