I agree that there will be some horrific economic repercussions from this war. Best case scenario is already really bad for some countries like Cuba, Iran, China, Russia, etc. with every country including the US taking a significant hit. Worst case scenario is based on how long this goes on for and if this just goes on another three weeks then the best the US can hope for is a really bad recession while a global depression becomes more and more likely every day. Here is the thing we know, no one wins a war by dropping bombs from 10,000 feet. You have to have boots on the ground. It might be possible to protect shipping with a limited ground invasion, I don't know the answer to that. But that is also unlikely. With drones and all the modern technology that Iran has, who knows how easy it would be for them to hit one of these big ships if they wish.

Also I think the most likely scenario is that the IRGC does not capitulate and Israel and Trump do not stop with their war until they have total victory. It seems to me that outcome taking place in less than three weeks is unrealistic.

On the flip side I would also say that this war is hitting China harder than the US, in fact China and her allies of Iran and Russia are taking the worst of it so far. It may be that Trump sees this war as existential to prevent BRICS from replacing the US dollar as the reserve currency. The problem of course is that the more this war goes on the more the rest of the world is convinced that they need to replace the US dollar with a reserve currency based on something like gold that one nation cannot simply print money. If Germany and the EU were to come to this conclusion then this war is counter productive.

So I see June 1 as something of a deadline. If we cannot resolve this by June 1 the impact becomes catastrophic. Also my understanding is that the shutdown of the straight of Hormuz is just now reaching the other nations as oil tankers that normally would be arriving now have just now stopped showing up. This means the news will show the pain that countries depending on that oil are going to be feeling on a daily basis, as well as gas prices and diesel going up, airlines going bankrupt, and shortages due to this. Likewise the US will see inflation in oil prices and everything that is derivative of that. Since this is an election year that adds a whole new layer on this and one more reason I don't expect the IRGC to capitulate. If the Dems win the house and the senate they will impeach Trump. If they can hold out for six months then their chances of winning go up. Take a look at Russia and Ukraine and it is obvious that countries can endure tremendous amount of pain for very long periods.
