Some thoughts on the un-churched....

Church actually take a lot of organising and many of us don't have the time or energy for it. If you volunteer for ministry in essence you've got to commit your life to it, and that means you may have to sacrifice something like a pay check.
That's kind of hard to do if you depend on that paycheck for a living and to pay your bills. So it does seems church is only for rich, retired people. For the average worker, church commitments and socialising are exhausting. I thought Jesus yoke was meant to be easy and the burden light....but in some churches it's the exact opposite.
the Pharisees set the rules without having to lift a finger themselves, and if there's one thing I learned, is there's still a lot of Pharisees in churches, actually it attracts them. I guess thats is the difference between clergymen and laymen, but that distinction is actually not recognised in many churches anymore.

I know what you mean. There is a homeless ministry that meets every Wednesday at noon for bible study and being run by a real godly man. Unfortunately this conflicts with me working and making a living.
this is why church is a refuge for the homeless.
If you already have a home you've got no time to go to church because you are busy paying your own mortgage not the churches, which needs to be paid off too and the lights running, so then if you join a church you have TWO mortgages to pay.
What I've noticed growing up in the church in the generation where many left when they left for college. When people leave the church it's automatically assumed that they aren't interested in God and are rebellious. Generally the same if they don't parrot back the accepted christian platitudes and want to dig deeper.
What I'm not sure I've ever seen on a local church level is people reflecting on why they go to church, what would draw unchurched people in, and an evaluation on their "ministries" to make sure that ministry activity is productive and prune ministries that are no longer a good use of resources.
Would probably be good for churches to also start promoting all the benefits of in person interaction, online is not the same.
