I think people will find any excuse to not follow God's laws. I agree that God gave it to His faithful and they shared it with the children. By the time we get to Ex 20 God needed to remind them of the principles of love and gave them the 10 commandments on stone so they would not forget them.
It is wrong to think that the principles and standards given in the 10 commandments did not exist before Sinai. God does not change His standards of right and wrong.
From Adam to the second comming the moral laws of liberty do not change. And God has revealed these laws by different means to those that are willing to hear.
The Israelites were given so much light and many great blessings in the truth that was revealed to them.
The point is that it was all pointing to Jesus and they did not accept Jesus.
The great rock, Jesus, has become a stumbling stone to them.
The truth they were given should be studied by us so that we can appreciate the gift and ministry of Jesus.
Jesus is given for all mankind. The Shadow from Christ's life and ministry is what many of the Old Testament laws are.
We all need to focus on Jesus.
Mat 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
But Christ did not make all of the old testament void. The same God of Love was ruling for the 4000 years before Christ came.
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Jesus was a Jew and fulfilled the law completely. Gentiles were never under the Law and are still not required to keep it. Read Acts 15. And Galatians. While you're at it, read Colossians.
the leap from verses 20, 28, 29 to gentiles are not subject to the Law is huge, but not to those that refuse to allow Jesus Christ to rule over them, refuse to obey the will of God as did our Passover Jesus Christ.
How can following Jesus Christ be twisted into not being subject to the Torah by which Christ was judged sinless? Oh it can be and is

Ephesians 2:11-13, 19: Gentile believers, who were once "aliens from the commonwealth of Israel," are brought near by the blood of Christ and become "fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God".
Philippians 3:3: "For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh."

How about considering the fact that believers are living under a new covenant. I won't bother you with the truth. You will only find a way to deny it.
Do you not know that Jesus is risen? Do you believe that He still observes the Sabbath while ruling and reigning over the universe? Is He still following food laws? For your information, Jesus died and rose from the dead. For your information, those who accept Christ also die and rise from the dead. You speak, and presumably live, as if Jesus was a mere man instead of the risen King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I am in Christ so I am a new creation. A new creation is not subject to the laws that apply to the old creation. The word of God makes that perfectly clear. So why do you reject God's word?
