Here's a story of conspiracy....
My wife and I give out cookies I've made every year to friends and family for Christmas. Wife help is instrumental and I couldn't do it without her even though I'm the formally trained chef.
Over the years together we developed a signature cookie. It took years. (In Nashville).Wrote the recipe and just made those to go along with the others.
Then one year shortly after the pandemic quarantines lifted I gave a guy I knew a Christmas cookie and candy goody plate and box.
He told me that I was the baker he was looking for and could I develop and build him a bakery/coffee shop. OK....my climbing ladder career was over (electrician) as the joints in my leg are shot...
So I do it....menu built, equipment bought, inventory created and filled the cases. We open....
The cookie my wife and I created is in the case along with other cookies and cupcakes and pies. The cookies need a name. So they are named Jacquelines after my wife. Dried cherry, white chocolate chip, candied orange peel. Good stuff and a huge hit.
My legs and my partner become too difficult to deal with so I hobble home. I'm done. Moved to another state and begin my routines of cookies, candies, and etc here.
Then yesterday my Sister in law comes in and tells me she can now get Jacquelines year round at fresh market boutique bakery in Columbus GA. Thinks I was making an already standardized and established cookie....when we have to explain to her that nope...they stole the cookie from us....and that the name is the dead giveaway. We created it. We are the originators of it. It's ours...named specifically after her sister. No one else.
The cookie is fixing to go coast to coast as a new favorite. My wife's name with it. She feels robbed somehow. LoL. She knows that if she tells the story how that cookie is named after her specifically....everyone will think she is lying or stretching the truth. She isn't though.
Lightning struck....we know the truth.
I think it's awesome that my lovely and wonderful wife's cookie that I created and named for her is going to be everywhere soon.
So....buy some Jacquelines from a bakery....they are good. You will love her too....not as much as I do....but good enough.
