No wasabi eaters?

I'm reading Anthony Bourdain. I don't know why...after a while it gets old when he's constantly going on about being a chef and eating and being a junkie. But anyway I did used to watch his show where he went around the world sampling gastronomic delights. Thing I don't really understand is...what is so great about French food?

Can someone enlighten me. What, in the world of food snobbery, or why, is French food elevated above all else in taste and refinement? Yes I like croissants, yes french fries are a gift to fast food, but otherwise? I can't name any French dish that I eat on regular basis.
Surely Italian and Chinese are much better, more ubiquitous, and easier to digest.
Pizza, pasta, antipasto...
Yum cha, fried rice, spring rolls..

Has anyone, like Julia Child, mastered the art of French Cooking? The only thing I've made is ratatouille, and while quiche looks easy, I would never want to eat that many eggs in one sitting.
It's the butter. It's hard to get good french butter outside of france.

I know of some French chefs who refuse to give their recipes out, for the specific stated reason that they do not want their recipes made with American butter.

About wasabi, I eat it. Wasabi is like religion. Very good in moderation, but if you get a big chunk it can burn you out fast.

Would you eat a tuna sandwich... for breakfast?

Isn't American Butter...margarine?
Anyway, NZ butter is the best. I think we only export to the UK though. USA wants guns, UK wants butter.

mmmm no I don't eat tuna at any time of the day.

Would you ever eat three triple cheeseburgers made with American cheese? For supper. Washed down with Pepsi mixed with Mountain Dew? And don't forget the French Fries, coated in sugar.

Huh no takers.
Don't be ashamed to say yes...if you were real hungry.

I think most people would eat anything if they were truly starving and that was the only thing on offer.

I would not eat that.. too much food for one sitting.
And french fries coated with sugar? Is that a thing? 😮

Would you eat those new growths?

Have you ever tried real French butter?

New Zealand butter is just as good as french butter... If you have never tried French butter. In other words it will be good enough as long as you don't know the difference.

Not sure why you would coat fries in sugar, but I wouldn't eat any of those things.

Would you eat a delicious fruit flavored snack bar if you knew the base ingredient was mealworms?

I can't remember when I went to France if I tried the butter or not. It was years ago. I did eat some food there. So I must have.

A lot of olive oil comes from Spain, not Italy I know that much. I assume Italy has the better oil, or more expensive, but I may be wrong.

Australian butter is no comparison to New Zealand butter.

I read about the French Fries somewhere or someone told me who worked in McDonalds
Anyway just to confirm, google says

Does McDonald's season their fries with sugar?

You can thank chemicals for that. After the fries are cut, they get covered in sugar so they are all the same color. Then, they're coated in sodium acid pyrophosphate to keep them from turning gray when frozen. These are the McDonald's secret menu items you never knew about.

I check all the ingredients on any snack bars, so if it said mealworms that's a no from me. If it just said wheatmeal, I wouldn't assume its made from mealworms though
'delicious fruit flavoured snack bar' is subjective.
It could be just what its described as on the packet. Fruit flavoured generally means it doesn't have real fruit in it, just artificial flavours that resemble fruit - it doesn't even say which particular fruit it is. The base ingredient for most snack bars is sugar.

Would you ever eat potato wedges with potato and gravy, and then eat potato crisps or pringles afterward?

Huh nobody. After you eat that, you may be constipated for a while

Would you ever eat stinky tofu?

No takers?

How about a frozen pizza? I mean one straight out of the freezer that hasn't been thawed.

noooo

I wouldn't either.

I am glad we have established what we wouldn't eat. After all nobody wants to go to a dinner party and then suffer food poisoning afterward.

Not really. Neither the original version nor those heavy duty machines they have named “Caterpillar”.
