Yeah, deep down, legalists like holding God to account. They likely have unresolved daddy issues causing them to need God to give them what they’re owed. Their relationships are transactional: “I did this so you must now do this.” It’s the mind of a slave unable to be an inheritor with the Son. Gee, I wonder what creature could have thought that up?
Feel free to interact with what I've said rather than assigning to me quotes that are unrelated to anything that I've said. If God is a legalist for graciously giving us His law and Jesus is a legalist for spending his ministry graciously teaching us to obey it, then we should all be legalists, but that is not what I think it means to be a legalist.

Jesus did not say anything to the effect that it was not good enough. Obedience to the Law of Moses has nothing to do with trying to be good enough. God has not commanded anything that is not in accordance with walking in the Spirit, but rather the Law of Moses is God's instructions for how to embody His character traits and His character traits are the fruits of the Spirit, which is they the Spirit has the role of leading us to obey it (Ezekiel 36:26-27). Again, the Law of Moses was given by God and the Spirit is God, so it would be contradictory to interpret Galatians 5:18 as referring tot he Law of Moses as if we are not led by God when we are led by God. Christ set a sinless example for us to follow of how to walk in obedience to the Law of Moses and those who are in Christ are obligated to walk in the same way that he walked (1 John 2:6).

You have the Bible available to you where God has commanded to keep the Sabbath holy, so why it makes sense to you to interpret the Bible as speaking against obeying what God has commanded is beyond me.

I speak about which law a verse is referring to only when I can justifiably make the case that it is referring to that law. Paul spoke about multiple categories of law other than the Law of God, such as with the law of sin and works of the law, so it is important to correctly discern which law he was referring to rather than blindly assume that he was always speaking about the Law of God even when he was contrasting two different categories of law with each other. For example, in Romans 7:25-8:2, Paul said that he served the Law of God with his mind in contrast with saying that he served the law of sin with his flesh and he said that the Law of the Spirit has freed us from the law of sin and death. Moreover, in Romans 8:4-7, Paul contrasted those who walk in the Spirit with those who have minds set on the flesh who are enemies of God who refuse to submit to the Law of God, so this passable should inform how to interpret Galatians 5:16-23.

Very logical, well done!

For some reason my post triggered you...

Once again a thread is overrun with legalists and they have made it all about themselves and how they're going to save us from our error of not being under the law of Sinai.

Paul said that being under grace does not mean that we are permitted to sin (Romans 6:15) and that it is by the Law of Moses that we have knowledge of what sin is (Romans 3:20). Was your post referring to me?

Baloney. (Hezekiah 3:16)

When Mary, the Lord's mother, remembered herself, she summed up the new set of commandments when she instructed, "Whatever He says to you do it."
Christ wrote the 10 on the two tables with His finger --- what He did at His first coming --- He expanded the Physical Commandments, they are now physical and spiritual --- remember adultery only in the mind is now SIN!

the only thing new is the Spiritual

Soyeong,, what Gideon can not seem to grasps, that God and Christ do not change.

today it's a sin to break the Sabbath and be put to death and tomorrow it is fine to go fishing on the Sabbath --- That is not the God I know.

For God to put to death billions before Christ came the first time --legally -- because of SIN, the whole concept of sin-- was from the beginning, had to be.

How else could Christ say the following; "Satan was a murderer from the beginning", if sin had not been codified before creation began?

42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

43 Why do ye not understand my speech? [even] because ye cannot hear my word. ? why there are so many churches??

44 Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.
He was a murderer from the beginning,
and abode {5758} not in the truth,
because there is no truth in him.
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own:
for he is a liar, and the father of it

THY WORD is TRUTH -- must include the Old and the NEW and the Torah, otherwise God changes.

Hasn't the Holy Spirit come alongside you? When would He ever tell you, "Go now, and commit adultery"?

So you are saying the HOLY Spirit makes it impossible to sin??
I do not believe there is a 'ghost' or a third, only Two.
reads chapters 2 and 3 of Revelation, 6 of the churches are not doing great, so until the first resurrection all will have human nature in them, hopefully the Father's divine Nature as well. but sin still has a hold on those in which God has placed His ONE spirit.

Nothing changes the fact Christ magnified the Torah to include the spiritual.

21The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make [it] honourable. (#142 wide)

the word - law - is Torah #8451 and it is now wider

Since you suggest that the 10 commandments make it impossible to sin, I can see how you'd 'hear' what I said and assert that.
And the rejection of the Holy Trinity appears to be the most common thread among legalists.

The Holy Spirit is given as a pledge of what is to come 2Cor 5:5, the redemption of our bodies, when our mortality is swallowed up by life (2Cor 5:4).

I believe transgressing the 10 Are sin and always will be.

Father magnified His Son, who is Christ, above all things (Col 3:1).
Father magnified His Son, who is Christ, above all things (Col 3:1).

That is not what the prophecy in Isaiah states.

From the mind that some call legalist,
If the God that freed Israel, can have a man put to death for picking up sticks on the Sabbath,
can then change 180 degrees, end the Sabbath, making it nothing, just another day
I will not serve or follow that god.
a god that can change 180 degrees, can also turn on a dime and cast me aside.
that is something I would expect from Satan.
The GOD I follow changes NOT!
