They may have gotten a few millions, but are losing billions every week. And those tolls have been shut down.

It is ludicrous to say that a nation is controlling something they cannot use. You just can't admit you are wrong. You sympathize more with a tyrannical death cult than the people of Iran.

Control and use are not congruent concepts although I know you do like to conflate.

That's a long way of saying that Iran doesn't control the strait. It's an international body of water that no one has claim to. For them to limit its use is an act of war.
That's an argument, but the straight is actually within Iran and Oman's territorial waters, so there are well established legal grounds to claim the straight belongs to Iran (and Oman).

I think it's pretty much an established fact that Iran controls the straight at present - Iran is actively preventing US vessels from holding anchor in the straight, and Iran's vessels are presumably present to control other ships and extract fees. You could argue the straight is being contested (e.g. if all Iranian vessels are sunk), and the US blockade is indeed rendering it mostly useless. However, to say the US controls the straight is false in my opinion, unless "control" is severely redefined to mean something else from what is commonly understood.

Well stated, thank you!!
Details matter.

Thanks. It's weird that people are actually arguing about this. I mean, I know why Trump is... But not anyone else.

Lol. It's like they think the US are some sort of god nation, which gets special privileges that other nations don't... Which is to a degree understandable, when one considers which nation is controlling the US.

It's no use conversing with those who can't even acknowledge control of something includes its use. Does one have control of a bank account if they can't access the funds? You've become a caricature of yourself.

Control in terms of a military context should use a military meaning, not a financial one. We're not talking finances, and the Straight of Hormuz isn't a bank account, as much as Trump might like to treat it as one.

They country who holds the reserve currency is not supposed to use their status politically, they are supposed to be neutral which they have not been, many times over.
Oh, what country behaved that way when they had the reserve currency?

You should check international law. Iran doesn't interrupt the flow of commerce legally. What they have done is an act of war. Imagine if they had nukes. Do you think they would use such leverage against others? Would they employ them against enemies?

The present regime is a worldwide threat.

Lol. The US attacked Iran. Until then, the straight was open.

This was a good insult - lol. But... I don't think we can have a serious conversation. You seem to lack self-awareness when it comes to crimes the US has committed.

Numbers of them are getting through. THe US doesn't have the capabilty to stop everyone.
I'm just wondering how long that's sustainable for. If the US pirates a ship or two of oil every pass, surely it can only go on for so long... Or does it just get translated into a cost, and everyone pays for it... In which case, the answer to my question is probably indefinitely... :)

I think the issue is that the US can't be trusted to keep its word. The blockade itself breaks international law. And I'm not sure Trump is really interested in ending it. He loses the blockade before the world economy crashes, he loses leverage.
International law is a buzzword similar to human rights. It means nothing and the losers are always whining about it, only to do the same or worse if the tables were turned.
