Sorry, but where do we read in the bible of religious leaders telling Jesus to search? I can see where they told Nicodemus to search, when they were under the mistaken idea that Jesus had been b orn in Galilee:
(Joh 7:50) Nicodemus (he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them,
(Joh 7:51) "Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?"
(Joh 7:52) They answered and said to him, "Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for no prophet has arisen out of Galilee."
Likely, indirectly, when both Sadducee and Pharisee tried to trap Jesus by the scriptures. Confident, there is no direct occurrence?

Throughout the Gospel of John, Jesus is repeatedly shown to have supernatural knowledge of people's private thoughts, actions, and conversations. He did not need to be physically present to know what was said. For example
- John 1:48: Jesus knew Nathanael was under a fig tree before they ever met.
- John 2:25: John notes that Jesus "needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was composed in man."
- John 6:61: Jesus knew within Himself that His disciples were grumbling about His teaching without anyone telling Him.
