Where exactly is/was 'here'?

Genesis 1:

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Before
God created the heaven and the earth - there was no 'here'... ;)

Well, what I said up there is that it was my thought and that I didn't have any grand theories or deep theology to back that up. It's just a thought I've come up with and that's all. This isn't the BDF or Sunday school 101. I won't argue about it. I haven't told anyone that they have to accept that as fact.

Not looking to argue - just adding my perspective - just in case it might add something worthwhile to your thoughts... :)

My thoughts on dinosaurs. They were here before Genesis 1:1.

I don't have any grand theories or deep theology to back that up.
There is a theory known as pre-Adamic creation. I believe it to be true. Dr Larry Ollison gives a good explanation. I first came across it in the "Mystery of Creation" by Watchman Nee. Dinosaurs were, I believe, part of that creation. It was also judged by flood, but nothing survived.

It is possible to translate "was" as "became". So the created world became formless and empty. So Genesis 1:1 refers to a completed creation, not what is revealed in verse 2.

If you know how to read it properly, you know that verse 1 and 2 "go together" in 'event' terms - they do not represent two different points in time with some kind of 'civilization' in between them.

In any case, you missed my point. It was suggested that dinosaurs existed before Genesis 1:1 --- I suggested that nothing existed before then.

I'm only an elementary science teacher.

Here is my theory:
All 2 legged "dinosaurs" are really birds.

1. Scientists have confirmation bias assuming evolution is real and therefore reptiles and birds can mix (despite not being observable today.)
2. Scientists call every ancient animal a dinosaur.
3. No reptiles today are 2 legged.
4. 2 legged dinosaurs build nests.
5. 2 legged dinosaurs have feathers.
6. Chickens came from "dinosaurs."
7. 2 legged dinosaurs are carnivores.
8. The little arms make no sense.

Tell me why I'm wrong. 😂
The evidence clearly demonstrates that God created living forms of life to adapt and change to ever-changing environments. God's creation is living, dynamic and fluid and in constant flux, not static. Darwin is right about that. What Darwin is wrong about is what is called natural selection, which insists that such changes in life are random.

There is overwhelming evidence today demonstrating that changes within living forms of life are not random but rather, adaptations are controlled by DNA. which allows some adaptations and rejects others that are detrimental to survival. This is NOT random as Darwin assumed but rather, a result of deliberate DNA design.

To be fair to Darwin, there was no knowledge of DNA or the overwhelming complexity of living cells when he was alive. Those today who cling to Darwinian evolution are clinging to an outdated antiquated view no longer matching the modern 21st Century evidence.

Humans design things like a car or a house to be static; permanently remaining the same. God is much better at creation than we are, which is what all of the known modern evidence clearly demonstrates, regardless of one's personal beliefs. Today science is aware that not just life, but the entire universal creation is fluid and adapts and changes over time. Life likewise is designed to adapt and change, otherwise life could not survive within a dynamic fluid universal reality.

God is much better at creation than we are. If one can't accept that, such lack of understanding reflects their own narrow-mindedness, rather than scientific reality.

I hope you find this interesting too. It's a biblical perspective on dinosaurs. A Christian Astrophysicist teaches this at a basic level.

Yes, the key is "adapt". Creation certainly does that. However, saying that reptiles evolved to become mammals is absurd. The problem with modern science that only materialistic theories are acceptable. This is also absurd. So the science world goes on an endless quest to answer a question while ignoring the obvious answer. Surely the fool has said in his heart, there is no God.

Yes, Creation begins at Genesis 1:1 as confirmed by Jesus.
I'm not a gap theorist.
The days God described are literally rotations of the globe Earth.

Darwin's hypothesis was seriously flawed. It has little to do with the scientific method and nothing to do with the Word of God. In fact, others have created their own religions that are paid for by my property taxes to deceive children in the mandatory schools that turn them away from faith in the Creator Jesus Christ.

The schools religious teachings are based on false origins supports the states' roles for mass murder. It not only happened to at least a quarter billion souls last century, but continues today in hospitals that masquerade as purveyors of life.
I give Charles Darwin partial credit for that. He certainly got the ball of death rolling and Satan capitalized on his beliefs.

IMG_20260606_055657.jpgThe part I have circled up there is the Hebrew letters "Alef" and "Tau". They are the first and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet. The circled part isn't translated anywhere in any version. They seem to indicate the end of the previous beginning.

If we fast forward to Revelation 21, you see the same thing happen again. The new heaven and earth appear as the old passes away. It comes down and covers the old earth. When something passes away, it is buried. That's a big part of why I think what I do on this. If I'm wrong about it, then I'm just wrong, and that will be ok too. 😁

"Nothing" is a problem...

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth. How did He do that? Did He form creation from some primeval substance, like a potter who starts with a lump of clay before spinning a pot? Or did He create everything out of nothing - ex nihilo?

If everything came from nothing, its essence is nothing. Nothing might appear to be something for a little while, but its not. Anything that is nothing must inevitably revert to nothing. "

These are not my words. I'm quoting someone else. I put that here because I think it makes a great point.

I don't have to be right about this. It won't change anything one way or the other. 😎

9. Other

There were giants in the earth in those days... Dinosaurs could well be a red herring: a false clue, introduced to divert attention away from the actual truth.

Satan rarely deals in outright lies. His most dangerous deceptions are those rooted in partial truth or distorted context. Yeah, there were giants on the earth in the past, but they were gargantuan lizards, not humanoid descendants of the Nephilim.

That said, Behemoth and Leviathan were colossal creatures of the land and sea. In Behemoth's case, God ranked it as the pinnacle of physical, terrestrial strength, which doesn't really fit the narrative for such a creature being a metaphor for chaos.

Paleontology could have designated fossils from interrelated creatures as dinosaurs. To repackage physical evidence which needed to be plausibly rationalised for a future where God was to be jettisoned from the thinking of the general population.

"By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." Hebrews 11:3

"By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the stars by the breath of His mouth." Psalm 33:6

God has always been. Personally, I believe that before the physical world, there was only the spiritual realm. All we can be sure of is that God simply spoke all that we see into existence. That's real power!

Agreed. I lean toward the Gap theory. I dont think God would speak into existance something void and without form.

I want the next thread to be
'What is Your theory on Unicorns'
Go ahead - start that thread - and, I will post the eight places in the Bible that make reference to them and suggest that they are - or, at the very least, were - a real thing in existence.

Genesis 1:

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
{ pause here }

At this point, God has created-out-of-nothing the "lump of clay" --- and then proceeds to form something out-of-or-with-it...

So - 'creation week' really should have been 'creation nanosecond' - everything all-at-once?

Or, perhaps, God had a purpose in doing everything exactly the way He did - and, we should try to learn from it and Him - instead of trying to wrap Him and His creation around our every imagined whim...?
