So - 'creation week' really should have been 'creation nanosecond' - everything all-at-once?
God spoke the universe into existance. Were all the planets void and without form? I dont know if your silly or serious but either way. Have a good weekend.

What is silly is - saying that God would not have created 'heaven and earth' in a "pre-finished" state - but then agreeing that He proceeded to "form" His creation over 6 days into its "finished" state.

Also - did some kind of "civilization" exist before Genesis 1:1 (or even verse 2) without sun, moon, stars, etc. ??? And, did He destroy everything - sun, moon, stars, etc - except the "lump of clay" that He wanted to start over with???

What y'all are suggesting simply does not make sense in the big picture of things.

The Earth was without form because it was just covered with water. Water does not have a shape or take the form of anything but the container it is in. The only thing holding water upon the earth was gravity on day one.

What was it void of?
IF Satan had goglike powers to destroy God's earth in the hypothetical pre-historic creation as some gap-theorists spent a big chunk of my life trying to convince me of, ie. Col. Theime, etal. then wouldn't there be something else on this planet?
I suggest that the plain sense makes common sense, so I'll seek no other sense lest it become nonsense.

The earth was covered by nothing but water and was void of life, and all creation that God spent the next week days making.

That's my understanding about Genesis 1 .
Does that make sense to you too friend?

You'll have to start your own 'what is your theory on unicorns?' thread Mr Gary

I am going to start 'What is your theory on penguins?'

My theory is that God wanted to make something cute, so He made penguins. I'm pretty sure they survived the ice age, that is why we still have them today.

For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens—He is God; He formed the earth and fashioned it; He established it; He did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited.... Isaiah 45:18

I'm not saying that gap theory is proven. I am saying that it is an acceptable alternative to the traditional view.

Is this theory of gap years kind of like that gap between the 60 and 70th weeks of Daniel that some 7th Day adventists call 'the church age'

Like it's hilarious how time just stands still just for them.

Is it like how every 4 years, according to the Gregorian Calendar, there is this leap year and an extra day - the 29th of February?

I mean the whole Bible could be like that, fill in the gap between the books*, and if you space out the scriptures far enough, you can insert all your commentary* in between them as well.

*Book of Enoch, Book of Judith, Book of Tobit
* I can post my own opinion on scripture too

No. I prefer the term "pre-Adamic Creation" myself. What it means is that there was a creation prior to the six days we read about. The word translated "was" referring to the state of the earth could just as well be translated "became". Isaiah 45:18 says this:

"For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens—He is God; He formed the earth and fashioned it; He established it; He did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited.........."

Believing this or not does not affect salvation. Watchman Nee saw in the 6 days symbolism of God's salvation in Christ. It's in his book, "The Mystery of Creation". Larry Ollison has some interesting video presentations on the subject.

Does is matter? I found it helpful, especially in refuting evolutionists. The reality is that no one was there apart from God and He has not made it crystal clear. That true of a great deal of truth in God's word.

I don't think it matters really.
I don't think about dragons that much as I don't encounter them every day. Or unicorns.

But I have seen penguins.

The seventh day thing is so the Israelites could keep the sabbath on the 7th day. I'm not sure if its meant to be literal, but its more a metaphor for working 6 days then having a day off on the 7th. But the weird thing is, in real life thats not always happening. You work the whole week, you get maybe the weekends off, but you still have to go back to work again after that. Work doesn't END on the seventh day, it carries on the 8th, otherwise, we'd just work 6 days of our lives and then finish and that would be it.

Using that reasoning, then let's apply it to the "gap" the Mormons found that puts Jesus in North America appearing to the Indians.

There's an entire history in the gap that Joseph Smith claimed that occured after Jesus ' resurrection.

You are welcome to believe what you want about the gap theory.
I rejected that notion from the book of Mormon as I did the "prehistoric angelic conflict" and so called creation my former pastor and his own pastor wasted much of my time trying to convince me.

'The Pearl of Great Price' ?

The 7th Day adventists added their own book I think it was called 'The Great Controversy'

There's also the little known 'Gospel of Thomas' , the new York Times bestsellers 'Left Behind' 'The late, great planet earth' and.....'The Urantia Book'
Also the Koran or Qu'aran if you are into alternative histories and parallel universes.

Like the gap theory and book of Mormon, those are all crazy alternatives to the Bible.

Like you, I don't buy any of them.

Maori ate all the moas

So...hunted to extinction?

Unlike the Flintstones, dinosaurs were not people's friends. Dinosaur just means 'Terrible Lizard'
And like alligators, most of them probably made good handbags. I don't know what they were like to eat, I've never eaten a lizard.

They probably tasted terrible.
I mean, you'd be dining out on one for weeks and weeks. And their eggs..massive. Surely you wouldn't eat the eggs, too big to fit in a fry pan.
Japanese still hunt and eat whales as far as I know, but they've claimed they hunt them for 'scientific purposes'.

Nice of you to let me believe what I want. I get my beliefs from God's word, not from the Book of Mormon, New World translation or Ellen G White. Just so you know.
