"Jew" refers to descendants of Judah, and Judah was a descendant of Abraham,
so technically Abraham was the first Gentile monotheist named in Scripture after the Flood.
Idk what being said.

When we accept bad doctrine as true, God uses it to drive us to repentance. Sometimes, our response is to double-down on the doctrine that broke us. Hopefully, if God's patience lasts long enough, one will realize that the doctrine is in error and will turn from it to the truth.

Which are true and which are bad?

Hi Musicmaster.

Greetings.

1. Why would one think they lost their salvation?
They are in sin and have not repented. Suffering condemnation that they have done the unforgiveable sin.

If they have not changed their minds (repented), then is it possible for them to be saved in the first place? Please elaborate more as to your meaning.

2. The word of God doesn't say one can lose their salvation. I have yet to see that in the Bible. One loses their keys, wallet etc.
was that done on purpose? We have a bad habit of dwelling on unedifying things.

No doubt about that.

3. No I did not earn salvation, saved by grace through faith not of works.

Agreed. But what about ALL those out there who believe in works-based salvation?

I don't believe water baptism saves Jesus does water baptism is what saved people as a act of obedience.

Jesus baptized someone? Please clarify.

Gentiles didn't "start with half breed Samaritan." The word Gentile(s) first occurs in Genesis:

(Gen 10:5) From these the coastland peoples of the Gentiles were separated into their lands, everyone according to his language, according to their families, into their nations.

This was a long tome before the Samaritans existed. They are first mentioned in 2 Kings:

(2Ki 17:29) However every nation continued to make gods of its own, and put them in the shrines on the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in the cities where they dwelt.

It would not be possible to categorize them all. Suffice it to say that God knows the good from the bad, and He guides us into all truth (Jn 16:13). The life of faith which we live requires us to trust Him in whatever He reveals to us. If He leads us toward something, it is right. If He leads us away from something, it is wrong. He Himself is our compass.

Yes, and because Abraham is the spiritual father of all who have saving faith (Rom. 4),
one could say that Abe was the first Christian.

excuse me No Jesus baptism in of the Holy Spirit according to John 1:33 . My point is water baptism is what saved people do as obedience.

I've heard people say that they don't know if they're saved, and some go so far as to "rededicate" their lives of Christ at some institutional church altar with some getting water baptized again, and some again and again...

Did some of you lose your salvation? How?

Do some of you believe you can't lose it? Why?

Do some of you believe you have to earn it? Why?

Do some of you believe you have to earn and/or retain it by your good works, or by abstaining from some sins? Why?

Do some of you believe your water baptism saved you, or that it sealed your salvation? Why?

MM
I can understand "rededicate" your life. We can allow this world to get to us.. fall away or what ever and.. so forth so on. Many do not understand the devil is a liar John 8 and song :) (Allies). Yes we read hear believe John 3:16-17 and Rom 10:9-10. Yet.. no where does it say "Only read once".

Had the enemy toss some of these questions at me when the lord first found me.. then over the years but.. it never sticks any more. Just thinking back over the years.. never once had God ask me any of these questions.. really never. Just things like "what is salvation". You learn God is out side of time and when He says something its done and His word never comes back to Him void. You learn your whole life is not judged on what you did in that one moment in time you really goof up.

For me works are just.. fruit of Him inside me.. that flesh holy Jesus.. you end up looking at that lol "fruit" and.. does it look odd to you? Sick looking? You look over at "johns" and..wow bright and shiny haha.

Baptism... was not old enough to know anything.. people say.. pastor says.. its written you do it. For salvation no. Some can't and are saved.

Ah. Ok. Yes, back then under the Kingdom Gospel, water baptism, as a requirement for them back then, that is how their sins were remitted. It wasn't because they got wet, as I'm sure you'll agree, but because of their act of obedience required of them, contrasted with us today, which it is not the case for us.

Rededicate? I can agree with you in that it is the individual who is redirecting their affections back to the Lord, but for some to say that they regained their salvation as a result, that's fleshly pride of the worst sort. That makes salvation works-based on account if it allegedly being based upon our faithfulness rather than the faithfulness of the Lord Himself.

For me works are just.. fruit of Him inside me..

Amen. Yes. It is the Lord working through us. So long as it originates with the Lord, it's always fruitful.

True. The thief on the cross couldn't come down from that cross to go and be water baptized out of obedience under the Kingdom Gospel, and he is in paradise with the Lord now. This should be a great lesson to the works-based salvationists out there, but some just don't seem to learn.

John 3:22
After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized.

John 4:2
although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples.

Yes, and that was for them back then...the people of Israel. Gentiles were not a part of that for it was not for them.

Actually, back then it was not an act to get their sins forgiven but rather an act to acknowledge that their sins had been forgiven.

MM
According to the Dead Sea Scrolls, which predate Jesus, Gentiles could be included in the baptism to recognize that their sins were forgiven.

There are many truths about the pre-Christian beliefs that Christian tradition likes to ignore or misinterpret.

Interesting verse. There are many like it. Here are the notes in the margin of the NKJV - 1 Sam. 16:7; 1 Chr. 28:9; Matt. 9:4; [Mark 2:8]; John 6:64; 16:30; Acts 1:24; Rev. 2:23.

As regards a person's salvation, it seems reasonable to think that when a person responds to God's evangelistic call to turn to Jesus for salvation (John 6:44) that he understands that God knows everything about him and as a result would not be trying to hide anything from Him. And it would also seem reasonable that he would have an understanding that he was being drawn to Jesus for salvation with all his shortcomings in God's view so that his positive response would include the forgiveness of all his shortcomings.

How does a person who has heard and learned from God to go to Jesus for salvation (John 6:45) lose confidence that Jesus has saved him? It seems reasonable to think that his eyes must have drifted away from the fact that he was saved with all his shortcomings in view.

Ephesians 1:13-14..."In Christ you also trusted after you heard the word of truth, the Gospel of your salvation, in Whom also after you believed...you were SEALED with that Holy Spirit of PROMISE...which is the pledge of our inheritance until the redemption o the purhased possession, unto the praise of His glory." That is a rather bold proclamation regarding our position as believers as relates to our salvation I submit. Apparently "Signed, sealed, delivered" isn't just a Stevie Wonder song...<grin>

Yes, the HS/DL is the seal/sign of salvation, but it can be broken per verses preaching the need for perseverance
including Heb. 6:4-6 & 10:23-39.
