Hi, for a bit over a year now ive struggled with homosexuality and have had two girlfriends. Everytime i pray for God to change however these thoughts and feelings have always stayed. This has caused trouble with my family and ive had self conflict. I had a boyfriend a few months ago and really wanted it to work despite me losing feeling and my mental health being the reason for our breakup. I want as much help as i can get, at this point, prayer, anything. If anyone else has struggled with the same thing id love to hear your experiences 🖤

I just looked at your profile, and I now realize that you are a female, I read your opening post wrong, not that it matters.
Im 15 now but ive felt like this since roughly 13
Did something happen when you were 13 to trigger those feelings?

Im not too sure, all of i can think of was that i was at a dark point in ny life and this girl started to like me who i met through sports, later on we started dating.

I don't mean to pry, but could you give me some idea of what that dark point in your life was related to? I am asking because sometimes a particular sin, in this case lesbianism, is the offspring of something else that triggered it.

My mum was really struggling with alcoholism and often stayed out for multiple days on end with partners so it really hindered my relationship with her. It also impacted me academically because i was missed weeks of school due to mental health. I was just really lonely and wanted attention so when she said she liked me i didnt pass the opportunity up

I am definitely not a prophet, but I kind of figured that it was related to something like that. First of all, I am a guy. Just yesterday, I posted about a young woman that I met and liked back in last October. I thought that we hit it off for the 4 days that we were working together, and I planned on asking her out. Later, someone told me that she is a lesbian, and it initially threw me because there definitely seemed to be a real connection between us. When I thought about our past conversations, I couldn't help but notice a few things. For one thing, she had apparently had some bad relationships with guys. For another thing, she spoke very highly of her father, but she seemed to have an issue with her mother. Lastly, when I looked into her eyes, I truly felt that I could see and hear her spirit crying out something like, "Would somebody please see me for who I truly am!" In other words, I got the impression that she was longing for anybody to love her. I see some similarities in what you just said. I would also like to mention that you have probably started dating at too young of an age. I know that people are crying out for acceptance and love, but certain relationships require a little time and maturity to prepare for. That is not a criticism of you because my heart goes out to you. It is, however, a criticism of society that places pressure upon so many youths to enter into types of relationships that they are not yet ready for.

I really appreciate and take on board everything you're saying. And thank you for sharing your experience. I agree that i started with relationships too young and i regret it. Thank you for showing me your view point and giving me clarity around my situation

I forgot to make my point in my last post. It seems to me that you are trying to find the love that you are not presently receiving from your Mom in someone else. Like I said, I am not criticizing you. I am just trying to get to the root of the problem so it can be fixed.

Is there someone you can talk to about the situation with your Mom? A counselor, a pastor, a friend, your Mom herself? If you can get that relationship mended somehow, then I think that it will help you to overcome your attraction to females.

Going back to your original request, now that I understand your struggle better, I will definitely be praying for you and your Mom in a more specific manner. Thank you for sharing your struggle here.

I would like you to try to look at your situation objectively for a moment, and not subjectively as the person who is living it herself.

If you met a girl or young woman who had an absentee father and a mother who wasn't showing her attention, would it surprise you to see that she was looking for those missing sources of love and affection elsewhere? I trust that it wouldn't. What I am trying to say to you is that, in a very real sense, what you are experiencing right now is "normal". Sure, not the lesbianism or attraction to females part, but definitely the craving for love and attention part. The father part, even if not fixed in the natural sense, can be overcome by focusing on the love of your heavenly Father. He is the one who knows you best, and he loves you. Where your mother is concerned, it seems as if she has struggles of her own right now. I am saying that because it may be that what you are craving from her right now isn't available at the moment because she is lacking it herself. That doesn't mean that she doesn't love you.

Anyhow, I am not a therapist, and I might need one myself. 😛 I am just trying to encourage you, and I trust that other members here will attempt to do the same. If you need to chat, then there are definitely some chatty people here. Welcome to the forum.
