Out of College, so where are the jobs?

If you have just graduated recently or in the past few years or are graduating soon from college, then this thread is for you! We enter college and take our general education courses, decide on a major, take those classes, while deciding on a minor and then take those 3 or 4 classes that correlate with that. Then before you know it, we are ordering our cap and gowns, walk across the stage and receive our diploma! The world is yours for the taking, you have some money set aside in savings, start wondering where your next step will take you, and ready to continue your future, but there is just one little thing you need to do this......

oh yea A JOB!

Now no no waitressing at Crackle Barrel or being a Barista at Starbucks, and no not really doing inventory of the back-room at Target where it seems like all you ever see is grey and steel where merchandise is kept, that you pull a certain quantity of, even though it will not all fit on the shelf, thus having it come back to back-stock it where you just pulled it from... ummm not that I have any personal experience with this ;) lol

We all want to start our careers but unfortunately to do this it will take time and great effort I know I will get into a full time position in my media field soon enough, through perseverance and prayer, it will happen. I am trusting God in this! So why don't we use to pray for one another for opportunity to come knocking!
 
Hit the good staffing agencies. Seriously. They are looking for grads all the time, the experience will look great on your resume, and it could lead you right into a fabulous perm position. Kforce is one I am very familiar with and their CEO is christian. Doesn't mean all people in the company are going to be...but it's a great org. Great luck to you! Keep praying. The jobs will come! :-)
 
Well they are not in scotland. i am trying to get a staff nurse job. there are none to apply for.
 
A lot of times jobs exist but not in the popular majors. Jobs don't appear just because a lot of people want to do that said job.
 
Great idea for a post! I will be praying for those of you looking. It would be kinda nice to get a job in the field that you studied for so long :) I think one of the hardest things for me and people in the class that I graduated in is that in order to get jobs we have to be willing to move. Since, I don't feel the Lord wants me moving too far right now, I am praying the right job will come along. :) Trust that God will provide in His timing. His plan is much better than any plan that we could create for ourselves. Good luck! And God bless!

staffing or contracting agencies like GAP Solutions are good. Also try doing internships. I'm doing an internship with the U.S. Department of State. I'm teaching ESL to the foreign language instructors at the Foreign Service Institute. The work is very fun and the people at the FSI are great.

If you want to teach ESL or teach English abroad, then consider Teach English Overseas - FREE Teaching Job Placement - HIRING NOW for jobs to teach in Korea, Japan, China and possibly some other countries.

I am currently interning at a radio station as well :) Also google does offer temporary positions that pay well, so that is another avenue!
 
Join a political party, wait for the next cycle and apply for an internship position. Climb the ladder from there. ;)
 
as much as they seem to let it be ruled by politics they dont tend to look to the nurses to be politicians.

What's a staffing job? I feel it's self-explanatory, but if so the term sounds repetitious.
 
Sheesh!!Some people could only wish being a Barista at Starbucks, or a position at CB, with these days and unemployemnt... As for me I joined up in the Army eral quick, cuz it was what I wanted to do... But good luck withthe jobs people!!!
