The issue with King Saul is David needed to play the harp under the anointing to calm the demonic activity within Saul. I doubt that is Saved nor is going to a Witch for answers.

Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him although, in asking three times, it wasn't that Jesus didn't know if Peter loved him. And Jesus knew all along that Iscariot was a pretender. Why didn't he realize the impossibility of doing that with Jesus? What was the impetus of his ultimate despair when he called Jesus 'an innocent man'? Did he believe in his own innocence up to that point? Did he think he was perfect until then? Could he not bear the 'shame' of being less than perfect? Is there anyone that can apart from knowing that Jesus 'despised the shame' and bore it for u
Jesus asked Peter three times because Peter denied him three times . There r no coincidences in the Bible .

Agree, scripture is silent on his last thoughts .. so why speculate, I cannot see how this is edifying.
Look at Jonah. He was in complete Rebellion which is the same as witchcraft but as he was dying the Bible said his thoughts were upon God and then God sent the fish.

Same thing could have happened before Judas was completely dead from hanging.

Exactly he was with Jesus, he may have realized how he got it wrong and how he let himself be influenced by the wrong people.

Not all sinners betray Christ to the authorities for 30 pieces of silver or commit suicide.
Which one of these sins condemned Judas? Or was it a lack of not being among the elect?

Neither are all sinners called the son of perdition.
Regardless of the title, are we not all sons and daughters of perdition? Is this doom not upon all who are not picked to be among the elect?

And you rightly state that Judas, like all, was not saved based on works.
According to election, works good or bad have no bearing on our fate. Only election determines our salvation or doom.
IOW, Judas was condemned regardless of his actions during his time with Jesus...unless he is part of the elect.
But while works don't save an individual, they do evidence spiritual reality or lack thereof.
Works, good or bad only apply if you believe in a works based gospel. Even the worst of sinners (Paul) can be saved if they are found to be among the elect.

Again, our works (good or bad) have no bearing on our individual fates.

Jesus said of Judas that He lost none except the son of perdition. Doesn't get any clearer than that...John 17:12.

We didn’t spend three years with Jesus, witness and participate in miracles, and then sell Him out to His enemies for pocket money.
So given that all your sins have the exact same root as Judas's, what do you sell Jesus out for?

Probably he was. I pray that he was.

Probably he was. I pray that he was.
I think so too . In 2nd Samuel ch 7 v 12-16 , in particular v 15 , it does seem to imply God's mercy towards Saul . I do think of Saul and David representing the two covenants . Saul died without God's mercy because he broke the law in consulting with a witch . David however , commited sins against God's law and was forgiven . So , they both broke God's laws . Saul was not forgiven in his lifetime but , David was . To me, they each represent one of God's covenants . The law of Moses and the law of forgiveness in Christ , Saul and David . I'm not sure if I've explained myself very well there but I hope so .

Judas is the perfect example one can be saved and choose to follow temptation. No matter his actions he could have repented.
Is this what you meant to say?

Judas is the perfect example of one who can be saved by choosing to not follow temptation. No matter what his actions, he could have repented.

And since we are not told if Judas repented or not, we cannot answer the question about his ultimate fate. Judas performed the task that he was required to perform in order for Jesus to be crucified, should he be punished for doing his task? His recorded actions after the fact would might also suggest that he did repent, after all, he knew that the Jewish authorities could not kill Jesus and he turned Jesus in to the Jewish authorities, not the Romans who could kill him.

If Jesus lost Judas then Judas was at one time not lost. This goes against election.

If Judas was at one time among the elect but was later lost then how does that square with OSAS.

IOW, the elect cannot be lost.

That's not what it is referring to. He is saying He lost one of those given to Him by the Father. It says nothing about whether Judas was saved or not. And the reason given for not keeping Judas secured was so scripture would be fulfilled. Read John 17:12. But don't read into the verse what is not there.

He was lost in terms of salvation from birth like everyone is. But that isn't what the verse is talking about. The Father gave Jesus 12 disciples and Jesus secured 11 of them. One he did not secure, and the reason given was so that scripture would be fulfilled.

Lost in the verse does not mean unsaved. It simply means not secured or kept.

You seem to be dancing on this simple question.

So what was Judas not "secured or kept" from?

I am not asking why he was not saved I am asking what was Judas saved from?

IOW, what were the other 11 apostles kept for that Judas was not able to be part of?
