Why can’t churches turn down the music

I was in church yesterday and the worship team or praise band was just a guy playing a guitar and three gals singing the harmonies. They were good but they were plugged in as tends to be the case nowadays, so they overpowered the congregation.
They had a few christian music videos playing when the offering went round, and it was Christafarian music, i.e reggae. I don't know or recognise names of christian bands as they all sound the sameish to me. Reggae music always sounds the same to me, whether its UB40 or anyone else. It's just that beat and style of music.
There was the requisite/ubiquitous Hillsong. This time it was the oldie 'Open the eyes of my heart'
I'm not criticising, its just it always sounds the same to me, hence I tend to think of it as McChristian music.

One time a friend asked me to go to see/hear Brooke Fraser (or Ligertwood as she's known now she's married) in concert, as had a free ticket. I'm not a fangirl but her songs are not too bad. They're catchy. I wasn't able to go though as she sort of sprung it last minute on me on the day and I was busy doing something else, and wasn't able to get there in time.

I think what makes her stand out from the rest is her voice, I instantly recognise it's her, and the music has more melody in it, and interesting lyrics, although the Hillsongs are a bit repetitive.

The Sally Army put on a huge morning tea after the last Sunday service I attended.
No McD's but there were cakes, cupcakes, chocolate eclairs, ginger and caramel slices, more cake, sausage rolls, small savoury pies, donuts, cake....and pineapple chunks, mandarins, bananas.
The served coffee, tea or you could have orange juice or water.
They probably don't do that every Sunday, but that's a lot for a morning tea. They had three tables groaning with food.
