However, you are correct to point out that God loves a cheerful giver/worshipper, which is why He does not force compliance but instead hopes His love will elicit loving cooperation.

I agree that loving fruit is produced by all who accept Messiah Jesus as Lord and therefore receive the HS (Eph. 2:8-10, Gal. 5:22-23).
However, no one achieves moral perfection in this life (Phil. 3:12). Thus, a person who claims to be godly but who is behaving in an ungodly (unloving, untruthful) manner may be in one of the following categories:
a. a normally loving person observed during a rare moment when he/she acted uncharacteristically (Phil. 3:12-16),
b. an immature Believer, who is making progress–you should have known him/her a year ago! (1Cor. 3:1-3, Eph. 4:11-15)
c. a truthseeker who has not yet learned the correct interpretation of God’s Word (1Cor. 6:9-11, Eph. 5:8-9), or
d. a pseudo-Christian (Matt. 7:21, 1John 2:19), who may affirm morality while rejecting its divine rationale.
e. an apostate or heretic (1John 2:19, Heb. 6:4-6), who once believed but became blasphemous or foolish and ship-wrecked their faith (1Tim. 1:19-20).

The HS/GW (Matt. 4:4) is manifested/received/graced in various ways, including via:
creation (Rom. 1:20, Gen. 1:1-3), true speech (John 6:63), inspired Scripture (2Tim. 3:15-17)
and reflected divine love, light and joy (Rom. 5:5, Matt. 5:16).

"Black Americans" was a term from the 1960s and music in that genre is called soul,
but my song is in the vein of "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" and "Go Down, Moses" sung
during the time of Negro slavery a century earlier.

I like your approach of Phases, yet you seem to assume that one passes from one to the next automatically and/or God will just do it for us. The reality is something quite different. Many never get past the Once Saved Always Saved now I am truly free to live as I darned well please. God owes me heaven because I claimed heaven from Him buy agreeing with my sects salvation requirements. Water Baptism or no baptism? Holy Spirit baptism or no Holy Spirit baptism? Confessing sins to one another or no confession required? Repentance or no repentance just vague regret? Bearing fruit or no need for fruit (aka works)? Works or no works? Following God's commands or just feeling in emotional harmony with God?
I note with interest you references to "good works unto others is poorly referenced. 1 John 4:20 is not about works. "If anyone says, “I love God,” but hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And we have this commandment from Him: Whoever loves God must love his brother as well. Your reference to Ephesians 5 is better read 4-5: For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life. Thus Paul is obviously referring "not by works" as meaning the Jewish Law because while dismissing the Jewish law of works he then notes we were created to do good works as a way of life not just an occasional ledger entry to our credit.
Paul more clearly pulls the plug on the going through the phases idea. 1 Timothy 4:2 He contends that if we continue in sin then our conscience becomes seared and we can no longer know right from wrong and have fallen away from the love for God.
Jesus said we will face many challenges in life, but those who endure to the end will be saved. So, while you describe life as spiritual growth, Jesus warns it will not be easy or immediate but those who endure to the end will be saved. 2nd Peter is another warning. "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities and continue to grow in them, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever lacks these traits is nearsighted to the point of blindness, having forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.
Virtue (Moral Excellence): Goodness in character. Knowledge: Spiritual understanding. Self-Control (Temperance): Mastery over desires. Perseverance (Endurance/Steadfastness): Continuing in faith despite trials.Godliness: Devotion to God.Brotherly Affection (Kindness): Care for other believers. Love: Unconditional love
If anything these are reminders that we must be fully intentional in our day to day development as Christians. We desperately want a guarantee of salvation of eternity from our head nod to a 60 second pulpit prayer. Perhaps too desperately. More than anything, we desperately want to believe that being a Christian is easy, wealth and health producing, full of blessings and Christ is a kind of a back up. In case of emergency break glass kind of thing. We want to make the conversion experience the entire objective. It is not. God in Christ is bringing to the earth a new creation - Christ led lives. We are chosen to be His ambassadors to our homes, communities, cities, states, nations and the world. We are happy to sign up for instantaneous salvation but not so much for offering our daily lives.
Actually, we probably should add another category:
f. An atheist, who may imitate divine love without glorifying the One whose power makes it a golden rule rather than merely a pyrite suggestion.
I agree with everything you said but instead of saying that whoever loves God must love his neighbor I prefer to believe whoever receives the loving HS will reflect divine love to everyone—although imperfectly.
Mission vs Goal. The goal is the mission. Love is both mission and the goal. "It is not possible to love God who you have not seen if you don't love your brother that you have seen. Christ followers in training. Love is love. It requires both a horizontal vector and a horizontal vector. Either way, reflective love is the mission. Horizontal love is an action and attitude and a mission. Vertical love is one important source of love. He first loved us.... But there is little we can do to love God back other than to take his message of love to everyone including ourselves. Evangelism is nothing if not being a bright light on a hill attracting all to the love of God.

The crux of God’s Word is the Gospel of salvation (kerygma), while the secondary teachings (didache) consist of the manifold applications of the law of love (1John 3:11). The Believer’s main types of responses to God’s Word are prayer to God and good works unto others for God (cf. 1John 4:20, Eph. 2:10).
The moment of being baptized by the HS/SB begins the process of becoming sanctified by the HS. Peter wrote that the sanctification of the Spirit is “unto obedience” (1Pet. 1:2), and Paul also wrote about faithful obedience (in Rom. 1:5). Following the act of faith (1John 3:23), believers will manifest obedience by acts of love (1John 4:19-21, John 13:35). There is no qualitative difference between faith that accepts God’s saving grace at conversion and faith that accepts God’s working grace while walking/obeying (Eph. 2:8-10, 2Cor. 5:7), but only a quantitative difference as each additional moment passes–and of course faith remains non-meritorious during the saint’s entire lifetime.
As Paul said in Rom. 1:17, “In the Gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that from faith to faith (KJV) or by faith from first to last (NIV), just as it is written, ‘The righteous will live by faith.’” The phrase “from faith to faith” may mean historically, as from the faith of Abraham to the faith of NT believers, or it could be meant chronologically, from initial saving faith thru persevering/sanctifying faith. The latter is implied in Phil. 2:13, “For it is God [the HS] who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”
Paul wrote (in Phil. 1:6) of being confident “that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus”. He cited the work of the HS again in 1Cor. 6:11b, “You were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” Note that this verse refers to water baptism and to baptism by the HS (1Cor. 12:13, “We were all baptized by one Spirit into one body”).
