So there's no such thing as the evil eye?
Haven't you been taught that it's rude to stare?

I thought this was like universal the world over. Obviously...not in the US.

I knew an Olympic level volleyball player in High school....

She towered over everyone. The tallest guy from our basketball team only reached her shoulder.
We all laughed when they were paired together.

Height is another false dichotomies like money that society shows what it values and considers "manly" over and above the things that really matter like character, parenting and husband skills. Being handy is more important than having the money to hire the handyman.
Little guys fit in tight spaces....big guys are always hurt because they do dumb big guy things like lift too much weight, push too big of things, sports injuries....all sorts of big guy dumb things.

lanolin, put our conversation into context. no, you don't give someone the evil eye. there are literally 1,000's of facial expressions that we all can discern. when you are being taught something, given orders, involved in a pleasant social talk or need to really remember something, you keep eye contact, it allows you to concentrate & listen better.

given orders?

what has this got to do with high high or wide you are?

"given orders" as your boss telling you what to do! pay attention big time! no one would be employed for too long if he or she didn't know how to listen well.

Yea but listening doesn't necessarily require eye contact. It just requires you to keep your mouth shut and your ears open when your boss is telling you what to do.

Anyway what does this have to do with how high or tall you are?
Or how wide/heavy?

If you are the same height then you can literally see eye to eye with someone I suppose.

I just don't understand why a lot of women require a man to be tall. Is it because they are tall as well so they can see eye to eye with them?
Or does it mean they want the man to be taller than they are so he can look down on them?

What do you think?

And if a man is taller than they are, they would need to wear high heels to be eye to eye. But why would you want to? Wear high heels I mean. They are so uncomfortable, I mean the ones that have stilts or stilettos and crush your feet.

I mean yes shoes and boots need to have a little heel, especially if you do something like horse riding etc but otherwise, just wear shoes that have thicker soles...

It seems to me height this is a sensitive topic for men, just as weight or width is a sensitive topic for women. I just wonder why that is.

Is BMI really important?
Are our measurements meant to signify something? What if it fluctuates? We can't add to our height without wearing heels or change our hair colour from black to white without bleaching it. We can wear padding though.

Do we need to be the exact same size, I mean how tall is too tall and how short is too short?
How heavy is too heavy and how thin is too thin?
What about when you get older and you shrink?

When the Bible said there were giants in those days, was it referring to dinosaurs/dragons and other creatures, or was it referring to humans? Because most preserved skeleton fossils of humans seem to indicate they were shorter in the past, and the homes or huts they lived in, had low ceilings and door frames. Are men always supposed to be taller than women? Why don't more women play basketball? Can you play basketball in high heels?

Do taller people jump higher on a trampoline? I mean ...?
What if your centre of gravity is low? Does height just depend on how long your legs are? Because little people all seem to have normal size torsos, just shorter legs.
I thought you said you didn't do small talk?

yea but thats different
I don't think there's such a thing as 'tall talk'

I do medium talk or large talk. Or big talk. Mostly I do soliloquys, which can be any size.

Well, you were also engaged in weighty talk.

Huh not heard of that.
We just call it 'deep and meaningfuls' here.
Otherwise I try to keep things light-hearted, depending on my mood, which unfortunately seems to fluctuate quite a bit.

Well, in your OP you said, "It seems to me height this is a sensitive topic for men, just as weight or width is a sensitive topic for women." That's both small and weighty talk.

true, however a person listens best with the most eye contact & that's a proven fact. some psychologists do not support this 7 some do. maybe it's a toss up & it certainly depends on the person. but in intellectual circles, it's definitely true. thru out our conversation on this thread, it's just the way we communicated, deviating from height. i'm sorry if you are!!!!!!!!!

I apologise

I will speak to your manager. Thea, may I have a word? We need to talk about @Karlon and possibly consult his psychologist.
Also, how tall is he?
