A tree, is a tree, a mountain is a mountain, a rose is a rose...

And a baby is a baby.

If you have aborted the entire population of Canada, you only have yourself to blame. Apologise to the Canadians. Seriously. Are you shading on them too?

I don't appreciate you shading on MY country.
This isnt an attack on your country.
This isn't throwing shade on Canada.
This is pointing out the difference between a tree (living thing), a mountain (not living), and a human (living and made in God's image).

Are you seriously unable to understand the differences or are you being willfully ignorant?

I've noticed the women that adamantly defend abortion often do so because they have had one. If you have walked that path remember, there is forgiveness in Christ. He can ease the anger and guilt so you don't feel like lashing out at the truth anymore. ❤️

@ThereRoseaLamb

If you have aborted the entire population of Canada, you only have yourself to blame.

The US has aborted the same amount of babies as the population of Canada.

Apologise to the Canadians. Seriously. Are you shading on them too?

Yes, Canada has no restrictions on abortion at all. So both are to blame.

I don't appreciate you shading on MY country.

Your information page says that you are a Christian. Yet you can't seem to understand why it's wrong to give a mountain all the rights of a human being, yet deny that same right to a child in the womb. I really don't know how to help you if you can't figure that out as a Christian.

It’s so sad that so many Christian’s have been brainwashed by the Left, radical mindset. So sad! I feel that the Lord is both crying, and angry!

I haven't been brainwashed.

If you cannot respect God's creation then you are just as bad. And He is angry at you for not doing anything about it.

It is not wrong to respect life and the life of mothers. You can't understand it because you don't. You are comparing things that are not the same.

A mountain, river or tree has a life as well. It is not the same as a human being but it's still is its own entity, given a name, and respected for the life it gives others. That is why its been granted 'personhood'.

Have you ever had a pet? Do they not have personalities, and their own life? Are they not cherished? This is similar.

It's very sad that some mothers cannot or are not able look after their own babies or bring them to term for whatever reason. I am not denying that. But that is a completely different from the news here. If a mother has a baby that dies, even in the womb, they can always have another one, if they wish. But a special tree, mountain or river cannot be replaced.

Its another issue that needs its own thread. Please don't conflated them.

Also I don't go accusing others on CC that they are not Christian because of politics or whatever. I don't make the abortion laws! Make another thread of your own on that if you wish to discuss it.

And it is very 'pot calling kettle black' when some posters say a mountain is an 'inanimate object' lol. So what is a tree? A river?

Does God call a mountain an 'inanimate object'???

Is an embroyo, a fetus or a baby an 'inanimate object' as well? ???

Anyway to return to Major Oak

Robin Hood was a legendary character, but he was also a real live person back in the day (otherwise there wouldn't be legends about him)

When I went to the UK on a backpackers tour we went through Nottingham and Sherwood Forest, and the tree was a major tourist attraction. Coming from a country that was basically mostly forested before humans inhabited it, and started to destroy/cut them all down its sort of sad to see only a remnant of what was the natural, virgin (untouched) original forest left.

Where I live, there are forest ranges that are protected...and there are heritage trees that people have planted in the past hundreds of years or so. My city had a tree on One Tree Hill which was a landmark for everyone until sadly it was cut down. There were politics surrounding that I won't get into

It is a real shame that Major Oak didn't put out any leaves this year but, like the Giving Tree in the Shel Silverstein book, it will keep on giving even as it is dying.

A lot of churches also have trees that have sheltered generations, and the pastors have looked after them. I would hate to see some of the really old ones cut down....just for a parking lot.

Giving land human rights is totally against God. The land/mountain doesn't have a soul, it doesn't have moral agency. Giving land personhoood erases the unique moral and spiritual status God gave to human beings.

“They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.” — Romans 1:25 (NLT)

Abortion is a sin before God, period.

No!! This is not similar! My dog isn't a person, nor should she have the same rights as a person.

But that is a completely different from the news here. If a mother has a baby that dies, even in the womb, they can always have another one, if they wish. And this is exactly why this is so wrong. You are worshiping the creation, not the creator. You're completely wrong according to the Word. This is why people have accepted abortion. Because they do not understand that God made us unique from plants and animals. It's called secular humanism, it's sin and you have blended it with what the Bible actually says.

Secular humanism is a nonreligious worldview that embraces human reason, science, and ethical naturalism ...

Its another issue that needs its own thread. Please don't conflated them.

No, it can be discussed right here. You need to understand what you're believing is wrong before God. I know you won't hear or believe that, but I hope you come to realize it on your own. God made us in His own image, we are not a cat or dog or banana tree. God values us far more. God didn't give His life on the cross for my German Shepard, He did it for me.

And it is very 'pot calling kettle black' when some posters say a mountain is an 'inanimate object' lol. So what is a tree? A river?

Does God call a mountain an 'inanimate object'???

It is a living organism, still not a person.

Is an embroyo, a fetus or a baby an 'inanimate object' as well? ???

No, they are all human beings. smh

I haven't been brainwashed.

If you cannot respect God's creation then you are just as bad. And He is angry at you for not doing anything about it.
Who is not respecting God’s creation? I believe the subject was abortion. When you abort a BABY, you’re committing homicide. So who is not respecting life??
It is not wrong to respect life and the life of mothers. You can't understand it because you don't. You are comparing things that are not the same.
Oh, so the Left thinks that a BABY in utero is not a BABY. Lol
So what might you think it is?? Is it a monkey, a bigfoot, a cat, what is it??

A mountain, river or tree has a life as well. It is not the same as a human being but it's still is its own entity, given a name, and respected for the life it gives others. That is why its been granted 'personhood'.
No dear, personhood is for people/ humans.
Have you ever had a pet? Do they not have personalities, and their own life? Are they not cherished? This is similar.
Animals and people are completely different. God tells us this.
It's very sad that some mothers cannot or are not able look after their own babies or bring them to term for whatever reason. I am not denying that. But that is a completely different from the news here.
Yes it is. If they miscarry, it’s not called getting an abortion. Your body naturally aborts the BABY, for whatever reason; that is, without medical intervention to initiate it.
If a mother has a baby that dies, even in the womb, they can always have another one, if they wish. But a special tree, mountain or river cannot be replaced.

Its another issue that needs its own thread. Please don't conflated them.
I only see you conflating the human and non human, here.

I don't think anyone is worshiping a mountain. It's just respecting the mountain. It's not saying its a human literally. It's guarding it.

Its not giving it 'human rights' in the sense of it can have water, education or shelter. It's about respecting and protecting it. That is a maori worldview, and I understand why they did that even though I am not Maori. It's not my maunga, but it's special to them.

You can get all up an arms about that, or you can just whine about how your own country isn't doing anything about protecting your own children, unborn or living.

I'm not worshipping a baby either, so??
If you want to fight about it in court, say someone forced you to have an abortion (or medical intervention) you didn't want. You can get up and make a case for you and your baby. Nobody is stopping you. You can sue the hospital or whoever did it for medical malpractise and say you didn't consent to it.

You can also choose to have a baby without medical intervention, and you can choose a midwife who will help you in the baby's best interest. Or not have a midwife. It is your choice - your body, your baby.

If you want to make it so anyone who helps aborts a baby against the mothers will is put in jail and can be charged for murder then lobby for a change in law!!!!

As I said, I'm not the one making the rules here. I don't live in your country, and you don't live in mine, so we have different laws, different geography etc.

If your country can support a population the size of Canada in addition to the population already there then that's great!! If it can, then why are so many mothers doing/having abortions? There must be something really wrong with your country that it doesn't want people to have children and doesn't welcome them or give them any basic right to live.

You country didn't sign the UN conventions on the rights of a child so...what's going on? Thats your issue you need to figure out.

This isnt an attack on your country.

Huh?

I haven't had an abortion? What are you talking about?? I'm not even defending abortion. Why would I?

A mountain is a living entity it's certainly not dead, and it's not manmade. The 'legal personhood' law was done for its protection. How hard is that to understand?

This mountain may not be important to YOU but it is to the tribe who see it as their ancestor. (I am not from that tribe) . This is the legal person hood thing and I can understand why they would need legislation to protect it. Pity you do not.

If your unborn child is important to you you would certainly not consider having an abortion, and you could have a law to protect it as well so nobody can take the child away from you. But YOU don't! So whats the issue?

Also, you should get the rights of a child thing ratified because your country doesn't even recognise babies and children to have their own rights to live - legally.

Whereas NZ does.
We may not have the best track record of childcare, but we try, so anyone who abuses children is liable.

If you can understand this...then you can advocate for unborn children. LEGALLY And not just whinge about it but actually DO something. You could sue whoever is practising abortions for murder/manslaughter or medical malpractice. Especially if it was done under duress or without the parents - mothers/fathers consent.

You could also put in protections and rights for children just as the UN has done...it hasn't gone as far as those in the womb or the rights of a mother to be a mother and to be able to have a baby, feed them and nurture them and given all the resources to do so. Maternity leave etc.

If this is a hot button issue for you - get legal advice and advocacy. Don't just whinge that another country people have seen that the mountain they respect and see as part of their family (I'm not of that view, but I respect it) are doing something so that it will be recognised and respected as its own 'person' and has a right to be looked after and cared for.

We have entire charities dedicated to saving wildlife, preserving wilderness and protecting animals.

We have childrens charities for children living in poverty, or in war torn countries, or vulnerable with terminal illnesses and disabilities.

You could start one for mothers and protecting pregnant women while their babies are in utero. Why not? You could start a group for survivors of abortions/miscarriages/difficult pregnancies. IDK. Just do something if thats what you are passionate about. If thats what God wants you to do. Don't go round arguing and mocking others, opposing people who are actually all for life and getting yourself nowhere.

I don't think anyone is worshiping a mountain. It's just respecting the mountain. It's not saying its a human literally. It's guarding it.

No it literally has the rights of a human being.

Its not giving it 'human rights' in the sense of it can have water, education or shelter. It's about respecting and protecting it. That is a maori worldview, and I understand why they did that even though I am not Maori. It's not my maunga, but it's special to them.

Wrong again. Mount Taranaki was granted legal personhood in January 2025. This historic legislation affords the mountain the same legal rights, duties, and protections as a human being.

You can get all up an arms about that, or you can just whine about how your own country isn't doing anything about protecting your own children, unborn or living.

It is wrong according to the Bible, that should be enough for you.

I'm not worshipping a baby either, so??

That's makes no point at all. You are worshiping the creation more than the Creator, which is wrong.

Wrong again, it's not your body. The baby has it's own DNA, it's own fingerprints and often a different bloodtype than the mother. You have your priorities wrong. And they are wrong because you either aren't reading your Bibile or you don't understand what it's saying.

If you want to make it so anyone who helps aborts a baby against the mothers will is put in jail and can be charged for murder then lobby for a change in law!!!!

As I said, I'm not the one making the rules here. I don't live in your country, and you don't live in mine, so we have different laws, different geography etc.

It is wrong to give personhood to something that doesn't have a soul. And it's more than wrong to allow abortion, which your country does, and not allow an ACTUAL human to have rights but give rights to a mountain that isn't human. Period.

If your country can support a population the size of Canada in addition to the population already there then that's great!! If it can, then why are so many mothers doing/having abortions?

If they were worried about population being a problem, they wouldn't get pregnant in the first place.

There must be something really wrong with your country that it doesn't want people to have children and doesn't welcome them or give them any basic right to live.

Your country does the same thing, in fact you're worse ! Are you writing from outer space? Abortion rights in New Zealand provide legal, nationwide access up to 20 weeks of pregnancy. Abortion is treated entirely as a health issue rather than a criminal matter. The procedure is removed from the Crimes Act entirely, and women are legally recognized to have full bodily autonomy regarding termination.

Last time, according to the Bible it is wrong, and if you are a Christian that should matter to you. Jesus didn't die on the cross for a mountain, it doesn't have a soul, it is not human. Your arguments are pointless and make no sense.
