I understand this and I understand your point but for this system to have gained traction is recent years I believe falls on the shoulders of believers to oppose this false system.

I cannot fault the people of Calvin's time as they were mostly biblically illiterate, but the resurgence of the of the past 40 years and this stealth Calvinism which has been well documented, it is a failure of a weak Western Evangelical church.
It has become just like mindless irrational Mary worship.

They need something to cling to in the storm and refuse to let go.

For we must keep in mind, demons badger believers.
They will maneuver them into places that are strategically beneficial for Satan's plan.

Fallen angels hate us. They can not stop us from believing.
The only option they have? Since we can not lose our salvation?
Is to rob God of being able to glorify us in eternity by granting us phenomenal rewards that must require merit on our part to receive. We must walk in sound doctrine!

Living and breathing sound doctrine opens the pathway to great reward for God's glory.
(His glorious happiness over what we have become in grace and truth).
Fallen angels want to stop and prevent from happening.
They want to hurt God!

How do they rob and steal?
By getting believers thinking false doctrine!

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have
and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). John 10:10

False doctrines are of satanic design to rob believers of God's loving desire for them.
Which is to see believers glorifying Him by knowing His will in great happiness and joy.

That is why we wrestle not against flesh and blood, though it may be through flesh and blood we see it manifested.
Those who desire false doctrine are cosmic agents doing the will of principalities and powers.

Our battle is over dismantling the lies they have learned (and wanted) to accept.

Some are like suicidal Muslims.
You can blow their arguments to smithereens, and more will still keep coming till there are no more.

Until then?
God keeps a protective wall around his faithful ones. (Job 1:10)

grace and peace ...........

Calvin’s Institutes of the Christian Religion (1536–1559) lay out the entire system of Reformed theology, covering Scripture, Christ, sacraments, Christian life, church order, and more. It is not organized around the later “five points.” (The 1536 Edition is only six chapters, 200 pages; the 1559 Edition is 1500 pages!)

The Canons (1618–1619) were written specifically to answer the Arminian Remonstrance and therefore define the five points of doctrine that later became known as TULIP.

From the Canons of Dort

THIRD AND FOURTH HEADS OF DOCTRINE Of the Corruption of Man, His Conversion to God, and the Manner Thereof

Article 2

Man after the fall begat children in his own likeness. A corrupt stock produced a corrupt offspring. Hence all the posterity of Adam, Christ only excepted, have derived corruption from their original parent, not by imitation, as the Pelagians of old asserted, but by the propagation of a vicious nature.

Article 3
Therefore all men are conceived in sin, and by nature children of wrath, incapable of saving good, prone to evil, dead in sin, and in bondage thereto, and without the regenerating grace of the Holy Spirit, they are neither able nor willing to return to God, to reform the depravity of their nature, or to dispose themselves to reformation.

Article 4
There remain, however, in man since the fall, the glimmerings of natural light, whereby he retains some knowledge of God, of natural things, and of the differences between good and evil, and discovers some regard for virtue, good order in society, and for maintaining an orderly external deportment. But so far is this light of nature from being sufficient to bring him to a saving knowledge of God and to true conversion, that he is incapable of using it aright even in things natural and civil. Nay, further, this light, such as it is, man in various ways renders wholly polluted and holds it in unrighteousness, by doing which he becomes inexcusable before God.
The Canons of Dort

When discussing what is Calvinism, as typically seen under the acronym TULIP, you go to the Canons of Dort, not Calvin’s Institutes of the Christian religion that cover Reformed Theology. For instance, I am a Particular Baptist embracing New Covenant Theology, NOT Reformed Theology, yet I am a full believer in the Canons of Dort, the five points that were responding to the heretical five points of the Remonstrants.

Yeah, everyone knows this, and this is an irrelevant point.

It's often said by Calvinists and it never mattered.

Faith is NOT a good work so the fallen nature of man, total depravity is irrelevant. Fallen man can possibly have faith because faith is not a good work.
Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” (Joh 6:29 NRSVue)

Is "the work of God" good or is it evil?

Scripture is irrelevant? Not surprising, since it is a common view among those who promote free will against
everything the Bible actually says of the "natural" man being incapable of submitting to or obeying God... of
being opposed to the Spiritual things of God... a slave to sin and lover of darkness, refusing to come into the Light.

whatsayyou.png

What Say You? ~ When Scripture says there are none good, does it mean some are good? When Scripture says we all fall short, does it mean there are some who meet God's standards? When Scripture says, "The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned..." Does it mean the natural man can understand the spiritual things of God? Does it mean he really can understand the gospel message even though it is heard as foolishness to him as Scriptures say? Is the natural man gifted with wisdom even though he has no fear of God, which is the beginning of wisdom? Will the lover of darkness come into the light even though Scripture says he will not, because he suppresses the truth of God in unrighteousness and is actually defined as darkness itself, hates the light, and is a slave to sin, blinded to the truth and captive to the will of the devil, which many define as being free? Is the heart of the natural man, the stony ground which needs to be replaced, fit for receiving and growing the Seed of God's Word into faith? Will that incurably wicked heart choose of its own accord to believe? Will that bad tree bring forth the good fruit of faith even though Jesus said it was not possible?

Man is helpless in his own power to overcome his depravity.

Yet, God has shown that he can have the cripple get up and walk.

I would agree with @Calmador that with regards to soteriology depravity is irrelevant...... simple faith is neither a work nor a gift, this is

made clear in Ephesians 2:8, neither does faith precede regeneration another tenet not supported by scripture, initial, simple faith is

the condition set by God, which means mankind retains the ability to respond positively to the Good News of Christ Jesus

My Bible says all good things come from above... "coming down from the Father of lights."

Not at all surprised you disagree. Do you also believe a leopard can change its spots?

Romans7-14-John8-34-Jeremiah13-23-Romans3-10.png

Romans 7 v 14, John 8 v 34, Jeremiah 13 v 23, Romans 3 v 10 ~ We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.” Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Neither are you able to do good - you who are accustomed to doing evil. There is no one righteous, not even one.

We have free willers rewriting the very words of Jesus Christ Himself
rather than acknowledging what the Bible explicitly articulates of man.

1-Corinthians4-7b-John3-27-Romans9-15-16s.png

1 Corinthians 4 verse 7b; John 3 verse 27; Romans 9 verses 15-16 ~ What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did also receive it, why do you boast as not having received it? John replied, "A man can receive only that which is given him from heaven." "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." So then, it does not depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy.

Well, it has yet to be clearly demonstrated by the TULIP/Cannot Believe Sect that God took from fallen man from birth the

ability to believe in/trust in the Good News of Christ Jesus through the power of His word unless regenerated/given a new heart etc.,

and every other term pulled from scripture out of context.
Yes it has you just dont comprehend it.

Faith is a gift but many free willers deny this. They like to believe that they generated something good out of the wickedness of their God hating heart, and in order to do that they deny what Scriptures plainly teach on the fallen nature of man... You know Jesus Christ? Yeah, in His very Own words He said there were none good and that a bad tree cannot produce a good fruit. Is faith a good friut? I am not calling it a work. Scripture calls it a fruit of the Spirit. It is not a fruit of the flesh... the natural man so many of you love to claim is capable of doing what Scripture says he cannot.
The tragic part is that by claiming faith is self-generated those people are unknowingly not giving God the glory in that regard. Free will is something that is often assumed and never proven. Humans acting according to their desires is not free will independent of God and external factors.

"Free will is the capacity of individuals to make choices and control their actions independently of external forces or prior determining conditions"

That view of free will takes God out of the equation and makes prophecy impossible.

I have no idea what I would have told the jailer.
Thats a shame. Arent you a believer in Jesus Christ ? 1 Pet 3:15

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

The verse below also supports this point, though its meaning may not be immediately clear on the surface and requires close reading. Peter refers to Jesus as “our Saviour,” indicating that Peter and his audience were already saved. Peter also states that their faith was obtained through the righteousness of Jesus Christ, their Savior. This leads to the conclusion that salvation came first, and faith followed from it—because Jesus Christ was their Savior and their faith was obtained through Him as Savior, salvation had to occur first.

[2Pe 1:1 KJV] 1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

You never tell us how it happens.
May I try?

Salvation came first.
But, before salvation?

While the Father was still drawing a person...
God made the one being drawn to have contact with characteristics of God's nature.

He may have exposed that person to an element of God's omniscience by giving him dreams that come true.
Or, showing a kindness to that person that reflects God's love and attitude towards him.

Each time that person will decide about what he thinks of what God exposed him to.
If the response was positive?
The drawing would continue.

Continue to the point where that person develops a desire to know the source of such good things.

The rest is history...
