Of course it wasn't. It's a ridiculous statement. But it is the modus operandi of some here to pronounce falsehoods and others blindly accepting

The very fact they were influenced by Voltaire in the development of the Eighth Amendment says quiet a bit with regards to how they felt about the excesses of John Calvin in Geneva, of course one would have to understand European Jurisprudence to make these connections.

Not specifically. It may be in someone's writings, but i base it on common sense. That is the environment they came out of and obviously wanted to avoid repeating

Exactly there are plenty of articles published on political philosophy in Law Reviews that make these connections starting with the 1689 Bill of Rights in England.

Calvin was for mercy in the carrying out of the death sentence of the council. You seem to like promoting something else.

Wait, you're saying it's ridiculous to say that the framers of the constitution wanted to avoid the excesses of ungodly men from practicing cruel and unusual punishments? Those excesses came before British common law and were practiced by the catholic church, as well as the reformed church. British common law was a reaction to that barbarity.

One can read the Federalist Papers and find out what out forefathers were considering. They don't mention Calvin.

You put forward conjecture as truth.

Keep digging your dishonest hole.

Killing men softly. So kind
Well really you ought to make up your mind if you're going to present the truth of the matter or continue telling your lies. Perhaps you disagree with the death sentence entirely and that is certainly your choice, but God does not disagree with the death sentence.

I'm saying you made something up. You made a particular claim without proof. We know the reasons why the Constitution was written and what arguments were made. All this is found in the Federalist Papers.

You're just being an ignorant pedantic. Their past culture shaped their views whether they were explicitly stated or not. It takes a real ignoramus to deny such.

I didn"t say the framers of the constitution based their work on what Calvin did. I said ungodly men like Calvin.

the gospel are the actions and words of Jesus Christ as found in Mark, John, Luke and Matthew as is. no need to add anything else Because His words are eternal life. Just listen to Him!

Jesus connected life and salvation directly to His words, not merely to hearing them, but to believing, keeping, and obeying them.

The words that I have spoken unto you are spirit, and are life.
— John 6:63 (ASV)

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life.
— John 5:24 (ASV)

Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my word, he shall never see death.
— John 8:51 (ASV)

If ye abide in my word, then are ye truly my disciples; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
— John 8:31-32 (ASV)

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my sayings, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I spake, the same shall judge him in the last day.
— John 12:48 (ASV)

And I know that his commandment is eternal life: the things therefore which I speak, even as the Father hath said unto me, so I speak.
— John 12:50 (ASV)

Blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
— Luke 11:28 (ASV)

These verses reveal a consistent teaching from Jesus: His words bring life because they come from the Father. Eternal life is connected with hearing His words, believing them, abiding in them, keeping them, and obeying them. That is why Jesus could say:

The word(s) that I have spoken unto you are spirit, and are life.
John 6:63 (ASV)

Yes, there is a need to "add anything else". We have been instructed by Scripture, that in order to obtain correct meaning and understanding, we are to compare the spiritual with the spiritual, and also, that no verse of prophecy (by itself) is of any private interpretation. Apparently, going by your opening sentence, you failed to do that.

By the way, you have significantly and consistently misrepresented the verse above yet label it as John 6:63. What it actually says according to your own preferred translation is this:

[Jhn 6:63 ASV] 63 It is the spirit that giveth life; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I have spoken unto you are spirit, and are life.

You left the "a" part of the verse off in your quotation and only included the "b" part - an extremely serious oversight. You really need to fix that or be seen as someone who alters Scripture for their own purpose and cannot be trusted.

Ridiculous, Jesus was very clear except in the parables but he explained a few, he said HIMSELF and I quoted the verses that HIS words are Life, who are you to Contradict God? Jesus is the source of Living water, I drink from that source as should we all.
