Does anyone follow the Psalms? Weren't they largely written by a murderer and adulterer? Anyone believe what is written in the Pentateuch? Wasn't it written by a murderer?

Guess we shouldn't bother with those either.
John Calvin is different from them. Calvin never repented. Calvin developed a heretical theology.

The point is, if we discard truth because of the behavior of the messenger, we will have little truth. Further, if one does so for some but not others, one is being hypocritical.

How do you know Calvin never repented?

What is grace?

So odd that so many spend so much time condemning a man who did not want to burn his opponent to death while they uphold eternal conscious torment.

What words of Calvin made scripture? Moses and David's words God saw fit to include as scripture. That makes a huge difference.

What a sweetheart! John Calvin preferred beheading his theological opponents, instead of burning them at the stake. But regardless of method, killer Calvin wanted them to be executed.

Ridiculous, Jesus was very clear except in the parables but he explained a few, he said HIMSELF and I quoted the verses that HIS words are Life, who are you to Contradict God? Jesus is the source of Living water, I drink from that source as should we all.
On the surface, you may think the meanings are clear, but that's a trap that many fall into when reading scripture. Their underlying spiritual intentions must be found in order to come to correct interpretations - even those "clear" verses spoken by Jesus. If Jesus Himself in John 6:63 said His words are spirit, then without question they can only be resolved by spiritual evaluation - to compare scripture with scripture- and not Just by a natural, flat reading of what seems obvious.

[1Co 2:13-14 ASV]
13 Which things also we speak, not in words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Spirit teacheth; combining spiritual things with spiritual [words].
14 Now the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; and he cannot know them, because they are spiritually judged.

[Jhn 6:63 ASV] 63 It is the spirit that giveth life; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I have spoken unto you are spirit, and are life.

[2Pe 3:16 KJV] 16 As also in all [his] epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as [they do] also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

[Heb 5:12-14 KJV]
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which [be] the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 For every one that useth milk [is] unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Is truth found only in scripture?

The arguments people are employing are not from scripture, but historical accounts. Can these be trusted? Are they true? Should those making such arguments apologize and retract their statements?

Yet, Calvinists are quite content to believe that God chose them while condeming millions to hell because, after all, why not.

Whimsy is not a part of the New Covenant or God's gift of salvation through Christ.

So then let's not blame David for his weakness when it came to the most beautiful Bathsheeba, after all God ordained it. Make up your Calvinistic minds and either accept God's 'control' even over sin or ackowledge what most people understand; that would be that God does have foreknowledge but He does not force salvation or condemnation on anyone.

He would be an unfair 'god' if He did. Don't bring up David when with the other side of your mouth you state God is soverign and directs the whole of earth's affairs. You did not notice that is what you actually did? Not surprised. Enthusiasm for dumping all
our bad choices on God is not the secure unthered results from sin that the false doctrine of tulip offers.

Great post.

Salvation is all in Christ. We are all one in Christ.

But there are very different roles for all believers.

And those who don't understand your post, will have to be in Bible 101 for a bit in the eternal state.
No Christians were drafted into the tree and that tree is Jesus it is not the Jews the tree is not the Jews the branches are the Jews and the wild branches are the Gentiles
Calvinism is the Gospel ! You are being shown !
No in fact if you really want to be shot down keep it up

John Calvin is different from them. Calvin never repented. Calvin developed a heretical theology.

Calvin was brought up Catholic. In fact a very staunch Catholic family was his foundation. He was raised a Catholic and never renounced those roots.

The political pursuits of the church are reflected in the desire of Catholicism to control the lives of people, witholding the Bible as too complicated for the mass depending on them for instruction, to comprehend. Constantly stating that we are all unable to desire anything but sin (total depravity) does not take into consideration Job or Noah, Elijah, Daniel and so on.

Dismissing Calvinism as the 'gospel' insults God who offers salvation to all. There is only one gospel and it is not tulip. The offering of loose interpretations slanted to gain acceptance in terms that apply to those so inclined, perhaps satisifes those who wish to believe themselves 'special' but it does not address the many times God offers choice.

Yes, just awful that he wanted to uphold the law.

God also supports the death sentence... how do you feel about that?

without substance from scripture, that you preached the Gospel
Read what you wrote above.

I told you that Paul defined the Gospel in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

Read the first two lines again.

1 Corinthians 15
Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand,
by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.

How about we ask AI to define the real reason for our salvation.

Include every New Testament verse that explicitly or unambiguously teaches that believing (faith) in Jesus Christ is
the means of receiving salvation, eternal life, justification, forgiveness, or being saved, while excluding verses that
merely mention faith without connecting it to salvation, then the total is approximately 95–110 verses.

A rough breakdown looks like this:

The New Testament

Approximate verses

Gospel of John 35–40
Acts of the Apostles 15–20
Epistle to the Romans 15
First Epistle to the Corinthians 4
Second Epistle to the Corinthians 3
Epistle to the Galatians 10
Epistle to the Ephesians 3
Other Pauline letters 8–10
General Epistles 8–10

That yields a total in the neighborhood of 100 passages.

Some of the clearest verses

These leave little doubt that faith in Christ is presented as the means of salvation:

Gospel of John 1:12
John 3:15–18
John 3:36
John 5:24
John 6:29, 35, 40, 47
John 7:38
John 8:24
John 11:25–27
John 20:31
Acts of the Apostles 10:43
Acts 13:38–39
Acts 15:9
Acts 16:30–31
Acts 26:18
Epistle to the Romans 1:16–17
Romans 3:22–28
Romans 4:3–5
Romans 5:1
Romans 10:9–13
Epistle to the Galatians 2:16
Galatians 3:6–9
Galatians 3:22
Galatians 3:24–26
Epistle to the Ephesians 2:8–9
Epistle to the Philippians 3:9
First Epistle of Peter 1:8–9
First Epistle of John 5:1
1 John 5:10–13

A notable observation

If you focus only on clear, direct statements such as:

"whoever believes... has eternal life,"
"believe... and you will be saved,"
"justified by faith,"
"saved through faith,"

you can compile roughly 50–60 verses that state this without inference.

If you broaden the scope to include passages where faith is the stated condition for forgiveness, justification, adoption, or receiving the Holy Spirit, the total grows to around 100 passages.

So, while there isn't a single definitive count, it's fair to say that the New Testament repeatedly presents faith in Jesus Christ as central to receiving salvation, with about 100 verses making that connection explicitly or very clearly, depending on the inclusion criteria.

Yet, Calvinists are quite content to believe that God chose them while condeming millions to hell because, after all, why not.

Whimsy is not a part of the New Covenant or God's gift of salvation through Christ.

First, I'm not a Calvinist.
Second, I haven't argued for any tenets of Calvinism, though I believe them to be accurate in the main.
Third, my point was simply that it is hypocritical to not believe God can use one egregious sinner to reveal truth but not another.
Fourth, I believe each individual is responsible for their own actions.
Fifth, I have never stated that God forces anyone to be saved.
Sixth, this is a public forum. I'm free to express my views. Are you saying you are taking away my liberty to give expression to my views?

Sometimes it's better to purge one's own eye before practicing optometry.

Nothing. You still have to grapple with Calvinism Truths being GospelTruth
No "Grappling" needed. No "Isms" necessary in Born Again Christianity.

"T" is SPIRITUALLY correct. Salvation STARTS with Conviction of SIN - through spiritual intervention. (Rom 10)
"U" may not be. It appears that GOD has "Conditions" (Rom 9).
"L" is experimentally true. Not everybody "makes it". In fact Biblically MOST don't. (Mat 7)
"I" is false. Even under conviction one can always say "NO". (Heb 12)
"P" appears also to be false. (Heb 6)
