Mary was a sinner.

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Also... Mary said....

“My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
Luke 1:46b-47

A sinless person needs no savior!

You've got a cheek. I asked you repeatedly to answer how your deadened spirit can respond when it has no life in it yet you never once bothered to explain, you simply keep repeating it did respond. Pft!

And in answer to your question above, because to be saved, we must be born again. If no-one in the OT was born from above then neither were they saved. You would have unsaved people writing scripture. Ludicrous!
There is a difference between dead and deadened. As noted before, when a car battery doesn't start your car we usually call it a "dead" battery or I believe you put it "flat". With a hotshot, an infusion of power from, usually, another battery brings the thought of "dead" battery back to "life". It's the same with our "deadened" spirits, it has life but not enough to perform at it's peak capacity. When Adam walked with God " in the cool of the day ' (Gen. 3:9) he was led by his human spirit in order to follow God. When he chose to follow the leading of his soul (lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life 1 Jn. 2:16) his spirit was then relegated to a secondary position behind his soul. This was handed down to all of mankind after him. When Jesus came to earth, lived a sinless life, was crucified, dead, buried and raised from the dead, all who believed and received Him were then infused with power in our spirits by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit or BORN AGAIN or REBORN. " For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." Rom. 8:14. The Holy Spirit leads our spirits, not our souls. In response to your answer to the question, it was not about being born again or saved, it was about the Old Covenant repeatedly stating that man has a spirit, when you say that they had none. But you knew that, didn't you? Again, are you going to believe your tradition or the Word of God? ", Thus have you made the commandment of God( His Word ) of none effect by your tradition." Matt. 15:6

When one says a pony has lots of spirit?
Does the context allow us to see its meaning?

And, a man can have a broken spirit.

You keep imposing only one meaning as a means to get your own way.
The spirit of an animal is not the same as a human spirit, " And God said, Let us make MAN in Our image, after Our likeness:" Gen. 1:26. If a man can have a broken spirit, in the Old Covenant, he can have an unbroken one. I'm not imposing ANYTHING , I quoted just a few, of many, excerpts from the Old Covenant showing you and Sawdie that man had a spirit before Jesus. Every time one can't explain away what the Bible clearly states, the fallback is ALWAYS, OUT OF CONTEXT, OUT OF CONTEXT. Well, you do a contextual study and prove to me, scripturally, why it doesn't mean what it says, I'm satisfied, I understand it.

We know that, sir.

The point that was being made was that the word "spirit" can be used to mean various things.

Such as.....

Why are you so dull in spirit?

There is a difference between dead and deadened.

Yes, but as pointed out, the word means dead as in "dead in our sin". You tried using a derivative that had no place in the story. You changed the meaning to suit your narrative and keep on completely ignoring the verses where the two distinct words are used and how they are applied differently.

Dead is dead, it is not as "good as dead" which is the meaning you tried to use by choosing another word. To be dead in our sin is to have no spiritual life.

The Holy Spirit leads our spirits, not our souls

Only in your world. You have provided no scripture for such an assertion.

And again, you still fail to explain how your spirit can hear if it cannot operate. Whether you realise it or not, you have us born anew before we can believe the Gospel.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." Rom. 8:14. The Holy Spirit leads our spirits, not our souls.

The verse does not say what you conclude. To be led of the Holy Spirit is to be a child of God. It says nothing about how or what He leads only what it means to be led.

Again, are you going to believe your tradition or the Word of God? ", Thus have you made the commandment of God( His Word ) of none effect by your tradition."

And you place whatever translation you want on the words used in order to keep to your story rather than comparing them in context with other verses.

I believe what the word actually says, not some leap frogging around word translations and applying verses out of context, just so I can maintain an illogical and irrational supposition.

You must be born from above, not resuscitated, not receive an injection of power, not raised from a deadened state but born of the Spirit. A second birth after your physical birth which is the first birth which, is what it actually means to be born again.

Try opening your eyes and actually looking without all your preconceived notions.

Jesus did not say....

"You must be awakened again."

You created an error which you wish to keep nursing.

It's your baby.
Go start a cult.
Again, the Old Covenant states, repeatedly, that mankind has a spirit, before Jesus, and you say we don't. If you believe that is cultish, then you believe that what the Bible says is untrue, like ALL cults.

Keep in mind. OT men all received their human spirit at their salvation.
So 'spirit' should be mentioned in the right context.

Its only in the Church age where we receive both a human spirit and the permanently indwelling Holy Spirit.
In the OT Jesus had not yet been glorified, so the permanently indwelling Holy Spirit could not yet be given.

One question for you, does the Old Covenant state that man, written to those BEFORE Jesus, but also "instruction in righteousness" for us in the New Covenant, has a spirit? Yes or no, please.

Old Covenant saints did not receive salvation until Jesus preached the Gospel to them," For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which He went and PREACHED UNTO THE SPIRITS IN PRISON;" 1 Peter 3:18-19. He preached the Gospel to them also to " bring us (ALL) to God ". " How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom THEY HAVE NOT HEARD? and how shall they hear WITHOUT A PREACHER?" Rom. 10:14. " Faith cometh by HEARING." Rom. 10:17, and " But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him." Heb. 11:6

P.S. The Bible does not state that man who has salvation has a spirit, it says man period, meaning mankind.

You answer my question I have asked four times now without answer and I will answer yours. That's your rules not mine and had you been listening, you would already know my answer as I have given it on at least two occasions I can recall (possibly more) but I suspect you have no idea what I would say.

A wee bit of poetry....

When carnal vs spiritual?
You know not what one will find.

One will have sane answers.
The other?
Out of Christ's mind.

For the the sane one operates well within the mind of Christ.
But, the other? He will try to smother you.
Under heaps of melted mozzarella!
Like you are just another slice.

So, it makes no sense to argue too long with someone unable to grasp.
What transcends the carnal mind that keeps thinking like an asp!

As you have said about me, I have answered your questions, you just don't like or agree with or understand, the answers I have given. 1 Chron 5:26, Psm. 51:10, Pro. 16:18-19 and 18:14, Ecc. 3:21, Isai. 57:15, Hag. 1:14, among others, all speak of man having a spirit. Spirit, in these instances, is the Hebrew 7307 ruwach from 7306; wind ; by resemblance breath, i.e. a sensible (or even violent) exhalation; fig. life, anger, unsubstantiality; by extens., a region of the sky ; by RESEMBLANCE SPIRIT, BUT ONLY OF A RATIONAL BEING (includ it's expression and functions).... This differs from the Greek 5590 psuche; from 5594; breath, i.e. ( by impl.) spirit abstr. or concr, the animal sentient principle only, thus distinguished on the one hand, from pneuma 4151, which is the RATIONAL and immortal soul.... this speaks of the spirits of animals. Man was created with a spirit that resembles God (image and likeness), for only man is or can be, a rational being. This is stated about all those in the Old Covenant. Two can walk hand in hand, but not see eye to eye :-))

Can you show me Biblically where, in the Old Covenant, men received salvation before Christ.

The BIBLE states, repeatedly, that man has a spirit, before Jesus came to earth. That's what the BIBLE states, which is the how this all started. I believe also what the Word actually says. To me, anything else that tries to say otherwise is illogical and irrational.
