Booze and drugs are a big problem everywhere. Both poor and rich people partake, just different classes of drugs.

Sometimes it's not class. Its race. Some people treat people who are not their own race or colour inferior or poorly. One of my bosses had a shoplifter steal some goods, and after that he started racial profiling everyone who came in the door.

Just because this one shoplifter was a certain race, he then started being suspicious of anyone who looked the same. Its probably just an involunatry response, but he was actually rude to people for no reason. You shouldn't expect less service just because of that. When people who were not that race came in they were welcome, even when they didn't spend any money. But he snobbed the others.

I should have called him up on it but you not meant to correct your boss.

The bible mandates the husband's headship over the wife, it is even written as a curse: "Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, and he shall rule over you." In most translations it reads in a confusing way, "your desire shall be "for" your husband", but just check out 4:7 in the next chapter, where the exact same phrasing is used, "your desire is for you, and you shall rule over it," it clearly shows that this is about domestic strife. If the husband makes less than the wife, it'd be quite hard to rule over the wife, isn't it.

So you believe that unless a man economically abuses women they wont stay with him....

Wow....just wow.

Sorry, you are stating false doctrine.
The responsibility over the family is the husband, and the wife is to help.
The husband is not to rule over the wife. And that is the problem with so many men who want to do just that.

The man is accountable to God for the family. The man is to live a Christ-like life. That is, as Christ presides, so shall the man over his family.

The woman is not accountable to the man. She simply helps. And, in addition, she gives birth to the children. And she cares for the children. And feeds them. And when the man falls short of his responsibility in caring for the family, the woman calls his attention to that.

So the woman's job is to help the man. And, having a higher paying job may be just fine for their family. It is something they need to settle between themselves. But she is not his servant, quite the opposite.

And that is why he asks her to marry him. He wants to build a family, and asks for her help. She has the responsibility of deciding if she is willing to help him. She either says "yes" or "no." In many cases she says yes to the wrong guy.
1) he must follow Jesus Christ
2) see number 1

If she says "yes" then they become a family unit. And he builds the family, and she helps. But she does not serve him as his servant. She simply helps him care for the family. If he fails in his responsibility, then she should divorce him. If she fails to help, then he should divorce her. It is smiply a social contract with a focus on the family. If either one fails in their responsibility, then they should be fired by the other. But as Christ forgives, then we also should also forgive. But there are limits.

You might be under the false influence of egalitarianism or complementarianism, which are modern inventions. Modern men are too soft, too emasculated, too incompetent for the headship of the family, and this role is made even harder in scenarios where the wife earns more than the husband.

No, I believe an adult, independent man should not suckle on another woman as his mom's substitute.

You have already lost the argument. And by the way, I think you are a great person. A follower of Jesus Christ.

So please stop with the Luciferian doctrine. Men, as myself, who follow Jesus Christ, do not treat their women as servants.
When my daughters marry, then their husbands will respect them. And I am here to ensure that happens. It is my job to protect them. And, I will protect you, too. From this asinine doctrine that you have been taught.

Follow Jesus Christ. Be an example for your wife and children in the role that you have accepted. We are servants of Jesus Christ and our families. Not to be constrained by the false claim that Jesus was a coward influenced by egalitarianism, completmentarianism, or whatever other modern invention the snakes come up with.

Lovette, you are better than this. Jesus is not a coward, nor are his servants.

Hello everyone,

I'm an young woman and I'm single now. After my studies I found I job I really like (it's law related). My "problem" is that the salary is way above average for a normal starting salary, and I'm scared I'll meet a great man and then he wouldn't want to be with me because my salary is probably going to be higher than his and perhaps he thinks men should provide and be the primary income. (I don't have a problem being with a man who has a lower income btw)

Do a lot of guys view it like this and what do I do?

I wouldn't know if it's a lot of guys. But I'd say there's some. I'm one of them.

I'd feel conscious about it. I do believe it's the man's job to provide.

You know, I think it's more so women that have a problem with it.

What do you do? I think maybe more guys would be okay with it as long as your okay with it. I think maybe the "who's in charge" role may be a problem if your making more money. As scripture teaches, men are the head of the household and you making more money than him may make you think you should lead. I think that's a bigger issue imo

It comes down to generational differences anymore.

Women have been graduating from Tertiary educations while men barely finish secondary education.

There's been a huge price though...

Most women are uninterested in having a family, spouse, or children. Meaning that our entire culture will be extinct before too much longer without anyone able to do the needed young people jobs.

Fertility rates are in the dirt EXCEPT for the highly conservative areas of the country. But the big cities? They will starve for a lack of kids to restock grocery store shelves way before then.

The man has to be taller, making more money and being able to protect his family.
So you expect to.marry superman?

(Good Luck To You).

Less than 1% of the population of men will fit the classification.

Completely insufficient to meet birth requirements.

The future looks bleak...

Overall...
Singles today have this list of "must be" for their imaginary prospective mate and don't really understand a lick of anything on their list because they intend to simply leech and bleed their imagined partner dry. Never realizing each and every item is a death sentence of a marriage and their heart.

Instead of a list of things that their prospective partner truly needs because its something they can offer up in spades cheerfully, willingly, and joyfully.
Of course they gotta bring something to the table too....because you want to marry someone just as interested in giving as you are with something of value to give.
And if the dating partners are only interested in taking....nope on out of there because they are a liar... plenty of those out there.
They don't share personal details and emotions, vague on facts and details, or oversharing to the point of embarrassing the listener. (Mental instability)
Judgement and prudence need to be driving.

I din't read the thread really, but I'm going to comment. Is that rude? And was that a rhetorical question?
If God created Eve to be Adam's helpmeet (and we all know that He did), then she would fulfill her role by taking up his slack, no? I think yes.
What, then, would be a legitimate reason that he should ever dislike that?

Hmm idk, that was a relatively low bar.
