Colossians 1 verse 13 ~ He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son.
Amen! I cannot remember what I read in Calvin’s Institutes thirty years ago but it contained much truth as well as the false tulip dogma.Might have more to say later, will just say a few things now....
i feel grateful to the couple of Calvinists who so willingly answered many of my questions back in Spring '24, when absolute belief in God hit me like a bolt from the blue. Strongly leaned to Calvinism at the time, which i don't now but still see plenty of probable truth and logic too in it.
Thing is, i don't lean to any religion or belief system, 1st Century Christianity is what appeals to me. I don't go for all the dogma and rituals in what we call religions, to me it's about growing in knowledge and love of the LORD/encouraging each other in the LORD, particularly if someone is finding things tough etc. Think it's really important to help brothers and sisters in the LORD, who have problems which could cause discouragement, or worse!
Still think there are some real truths in Calvinism but it definitely isn't the Gospel. Personally certain many of Calvin's thoughts were reactions to the massive abuse of papal power he witnessed, there's much evidence demonstrating the will of powerful people being done during that time, not God's will. Being Christian is all that matters and it doesn't come in different flavours, the LORD provides all the information we need and can trust.
Now you calling the Gospel heresy.
Rabbit trail. Match up the words of Christ with the Truths of Tulip
Evasion and rabbit trail
Okay so you deny His death saves, everyone sees it. How were these saved according to their testimony Rev 5:9-10
9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Arguing against such dogmatic ignorance is like obeying someone yelling for you to start kicking when in quicksand.
You have developed ways of getting ahead of others by sheer bullheadedness and stupidity.
It apparently has worked for you. It is why you refuse to give up the technique.
It's a wonder how some are just endowed with such a natural brilliance for winning by stupidity.
Even genius stupidity!
... have some!
So then you think God is the author of evil in the world?
Thats your excuse for unbelief and failing to match the truths of tulip with the teachings of Christ Himself, you would call Christ a calvinist and reject His sayings as you currently do.
Isaiah 45
5 I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else.
7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.
8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the Lord have created it.
I know what it says, God blessThe thinking that God created evil, is mistaken for three reasons. First, if we interpret this verse as meaning that God brought evil into existence, it goes against the theology of evil taught elsewhere in Scripture and everything we know about God (e.g., God is good and there is no darkness in him—1 John 1:15). It would render the Bible incoherent.
The Hebrew word translated as “evil” in the above King James translation is translated as “calamity” (NASB, ESV) or “disaster” (NIV) in other major translations. Even the updated New King James translation renders it as “calamity.” That’s because, like any word, it can have multiple meanings, and it’s usually the context that determines which meaning was intended by the author. That brings us to the final point.
Third, the context of this passage (and the message of the prophets of the Old Testament in general) is about blessing those who are faithful and punishing those who disobey (Isa. 45:9, 24). It’s within this principle that God declares that he creates “well-being” and “calamity.” He’s responsible for bringing prosperity to those who are faithful and calamity to those who rebel. source
So, we can safely conclude in agreement with scripture, that God does not create 'evil'. The devil is evil. God did not create him. God created a beautiful being who rebelled against God and thought to take His place.
I know what it says, God bless
He successfully accomplished the resurrection of the dead, as all will be raised, by grace, either to eternal life or to eternal judgment, through faith. That is the will of God.Okay and. Did He successfully save all for whom He died ?
And multitudes have been bewitched by it, as you can see.Amen! I cannot remember what I read in Calvin’s Institutes thirty years ago but it contained much truth as well as the false tulip dogma.
We know when you are dishonest that it is your choice and nobody making you do it.Again, and as I previously states a few pages back, if you believe as many hardcore Calvinists do, that God is responsible for
all things, then, no one is guilty of any sin because God planned it along.
When you take the absolutes in Calvinism to their logical end, you end up with a very horrible and tyrannical God who causes people to do great evil and then condemns them for it.
