God sent Jonah to proclaim His word. We know from scripture that when God sends forth His word it always accomplishes the purpose for which God sends it. Salvation was accomplished. Ergo, it was God's purpose in sending Jonah to proclaim His word to save Nineveh.

I have news for you, a gospel without teaching particular effectual atonement, is no gospel ! Jesus was specific as to whom He died for Jn 10 Paul was specific about who Jesus died for Eoh 5:25 The Angel announced specifically who Jesus came to save Matt 1:21

And Jesus said it was finished Jn 19:30

Only because they first were saved by God. From that, the Holy Spirit moved within them and repented them from the works of their hands, and they ceased from doing or desiring to do that, so God didn't destroy them. That they were saved was made perfectly evident by Mat 12:41; but for them to be saved because of what Jonah preached was impossible because he didn't preach the gospel, so, if their salvation was based upon their choice to accept the gospel - a choice to be made by them - then on that basis, salvation was impossible, because no such gospel was ever preached by Jonah, nevertheless, they still became saved.

Was Nineveh overthrown in forty days? Did God lie or did he simply change his mind based on the response of the message? God was going to overthrow them because their wickedness. The people of Nineveh repented of their wickedness and cried out to God. God shows them grace and does not do what he said he was going to do.

In a sense it was overthrown.

For Satan and his minions were routed and God's Spirit took over the land.

Man has a choice. Nations have choices when faced with the word of God. If you do this, then I will do this.

No one is saying man doesn't make choices. That's a whole other can of worms. But men's choices never alter God's purpose. Man's choices only reflect the human aspect of God fulfilling His purposes; they never alter God's purposes.

Acts 2:23 is a great example of this. God's purpose was to deliver Jesus. Men's choices carried out God's will.

This is what I meant a while back by God is so much greater than most people give Him credit for. He created the very people who would choose such course of action at the very time He brought His Son into the world to suffer the consequences of those choices. Which is why I said history is under divine control, follows a divine plan, is on a divine timetable, and is redemptive and concerning the coming of God's kingdom into the world.

The very fact that God sent His word forth and the result was salvation means God's purpose was the salvation of Nineveh. That it occurred through the choices of men only reflects the awesomeness of God. He is far greater than your version reflects.

No its not, its Truth. The Gospel is hid to them that are lost. The word hid in 2 Cor 4:3 is kalyptō:

the word is in the perfect tense denoting:

an action that was completely finalized in the past, carrying results that continue permanently into the present and future

so while in a lost condition, the Gospel is permanently hid, the mind is veiled and the knowledge of it is withheld, so you cant believe it in that condition. Now if God saves you out of that condition, you will believe.

You forget one thing.
The Gospel takes place after the drawing of God is completed.

The drawing period is when God has one making up his mind as to how they want to relate to God.
So for those who reject God's drawing?
The Gospel is hidden to them.

But, if they did not resist God's drawing? All could be saved.
