This was so romantic and beautiful, thank you so much for sharing this!!

My Grandpa served in WW2 and at one point, worked in the mail room. If I understood correctly, they had to personally read the letters to make sure classified information wasn't being leaked, but he talked about reading many letters such as the ones you are describing. 💖

Pen and paper letters are truly a lost art that I wish more people would be interested in keeping alive.

We were told that our letters may be read, but I don't know of any that were. By the time the letters reached public mail channels, most of the harmful info that a crew member could share was overtaken by the current situation.

My pleasure. :D
Her bow was my favorite thing too. I loved that game.

There was one year where Google did their annual Halloween Doodle as Pac-Man!!

In some pictures I've seen, the maze was shaped like a haunted house, and Pac-Man was wearing a little witch's hat, and the power pellets were little eyeballs!

No, I'm not trying to promote the evil side of Halloween, I just always find it cute when designers take the time to make a special holiday or seasonal design

Naturally, I had to look up YouTube videos of people playing this version of the game!

I'm so happy that your wonderful letters, and those from your wife and kids, were allowed through!💖🙏🏼💐

Puff the Magic Dragon. The Beattles. Milton Beryle. The Jetsons. The Flintstones. Wolfman Jack. Vin Scully. Wash boards. The milk man. The Helm's Bakery man. The fuller brush man. Hard copy Encyclopedia sets. Stingray bicycles. Bambi. 26 cents a gallon gasoline. VW Bugs. Union 76 orange styrofoam ball to attach to your car's radio antenna.

I always found the part where Jackie Draper grows up and leaves Puff (the Magic Dragon) behind to be absolutely heartbreaking!! 😭

And the 76 orange antenna balls!

I used to see 76 stations a lot, and I think I remember seeing a few of these. :D

I love seeing what people remember so fondly from times long past! :)

On Pinterest there's an AI animation. I would link it,but it is not available to those not registered, even to view it.

It just happened to pop up on my homepage when I logged in the other day.

Remember the Coyote Roadrunner classic cartoons?

This AI features them both as retired.
Incredibly well made. And heartbreaking.

If you're a member,or maybe Google can show it without a Pinterest account, search.

Animated AI retired coyote roadrunner cartoon.

There's an adjacent AI that accompanied it. Sylvester puddycat as an old cat. He's in his house grieving because Jerry passed.

Amazing AI animation but,why would they take fans of the classics to that next level.

Maybe everyone needs a good cry.

This looks intriguing!!!

How is it played?
I'd have to show you in person, not sure if their's a video on it.

Basically it's a game where you toss the knucklebones in the air and have to catch them, and they can land on your hand. The back or the palm, and you have to swipe them to certain areas. You play them usually on the floor sitting down.

Its sort of like hacky sack, but with five bones and using your hands. Well not really but maybe more of a cross between hacky sack and playing marbles.

I used to play when I was young, and also things like skipping -or french skipping, or we called it elastics. Elastics was more of a girls game. You had a long loop of elastics with two girls inside, and if you were playing you had to jump in between and sing a rhyme while you were jumping, and it could be high or low. It would be round the ankles first and then can get as high as your armpits.

Elastics sounds kind of like Double Dutch (although I do vaguely recall one of my earliest memories of linking rubber bands together and doing something similar with them).

And knucklebones sounds somewhat like the game of Jacks, and indeed the hashtag on this image is Knucklebone Game Photos, Images and Pictures

The Lanolin version looks a lot friendlier to the bare feet though. If you missed picking all of these up and left any laying for you mom to step on, all of them went into the rubbish pail.
