Disobedience is characteristic of the unsaved; not the saved
Notice only goats are listed in this group.
Disobedience is a characteristic of ALL of us........Believers have a way out, 1 John 1:9.

And many believers have not a clue how to get back into fellowship with the Lord.......Disobedience is their main character, may not be overt sin, but it is sin not being in fellowship with the Spirit.

The loss of salvation crowd wants to "watch" for the overt sin. The sin that requires discipline is being out of fellowship with Him.....Unseen to the majority of us.

I would say the "Lordship Salvation" crowd look for overt sin as well.

I thought you guys liked context.

You are a habitual sinner. I am a habitual sinner. We are all habitual sinners. Believers and unbelievers.....Believers have a way out. 1 John 1:9.

If you or anyone doesn't think so........We have no clue of the purity and holiness of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The loss of salvation crowd thinks they have a lock on true Holiness? Not a chance.

One can't think a wrong thought. One can't make a wrong choice. One has to have the PERFECT thought and decision at ALL times.

Who does that? And who does that say, even 30% of every hour?

We are all habitual sinners........We are saved from it at death.

We weren't talking about whether individuals sin or not. The passage in question was dealing with sheep and goats. Sheep were those who customarily did what Christ espoused. Goats did not.

If it wasn't a characteristic of believers.....We would not need 1 John 1:9.

@mailmandan says "nominal" believers........Most are. But he saves to the uttermost for those who BELIEVE in Him.

What is lawlessness?
Interesting question.

Lawlessness is transgression of the law (Mosaic Covenant).

There are also the deeds of the flesh.

Galatians 5:19-21
Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery,
enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness,
carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those
who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Colossians 5:6-9
Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion,
evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. For it is because of these things that the wrath
of God will come upon the sons of disobedience, and in them you also once walked, when you
were living in them. But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive
speech from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices.

2 Timothy 3:1-4
But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self,
lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving,
irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless,
conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although
they have denied its power. Avoid such men as these.

We can add the good that you know you should be doing but don't is also sin.

Denial of Jesus is the greatest sin.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven.

Causing a little one to stumble is a severe sin to commit.

The prophets spoke of laws such as drunkenness.

Witches must be put to death.

Sorcery is a ceremonial law.

Afflicting widows and orphans is also a ceremonial law.

  • Caring for the Vulnerable: The prophets (e.g., Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos) frequently commanded the protection and provision of widows, orphans, and immigrants.
  • Social Justice over Sacrifice: Prophets like Micah and Hosea stressed that justice, mercy, and humility are greater than religious sacrifices.
  • Internal Righteousness: The prophets spoke of an upcoming inward transformation. Jeremiah and Ezekiel prophesied about a "New Covenant" where God's laws would be written on the hearts of the people, rather than just on stone tablets

The list is near endless so how can anyone define sin or the deeds of the flesh?

No, the wages of sin is not life.

The wages of sin is death (separation from God) so a person like this goes to hell not to Heaven.

That explanation from the greasy grace teachers and it's based on scripture twisting, lies, subterfuge, chicanery, and tom foolery
The rest of that verse seems to have conveniently slipped off into oblivion like it's been greased or something. What a shame, because it tells us what life is, even what eternal life is, the gift of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom 6:23).

I believe a true understanding of a Doctrine formatted around OSAS is that you become Regenerated one time but you still are seeking forgiveness for daily committed sins.

Jesus saves us from our sin (Matthew 1:21) and it is by the Law of Moses that we have knowledge of what sin is (Romans 3:20), so Jesus graciously teaching us to experience being a doer of it is intrinsically the way that he is giving us his gift of saving us from not being a doer of it. The position that we are not obligated to obey the Law of Moses is the position that we have a license to sin and the position that we do not need salvation from sin.
Follow this man if you want to be cut off from grace. Warning! Avoid this!

In Psalm 119:29-30, he wanted to put false ways far from him, for God to be gracious to him by teaching him to obey the Law of Moses, and he chose the way of faith by setting it before him, so this has always been the one and only way of salvation by grace through faith and it would be absurd to think that he wanted God to be gracious to him by teaching him how to fall from grace.

They have claimed the 613 mitzvah are written on our hearts
In Jeremiah 31:33, the New Covenant involves God putting the Torah in our minds and writing it on our hearts, so if someone wants nothing to do with obeying the Torah, then they also want nothing to do with the New Covenant.

You must have missed the part about it being a NEW covenant. The old one is obsolete.
