There is no need to try again when my post was Biblically correct the first time.
Your ideology ignores 1Corinthians 2.
Your mind cannot be changed by God's words.
No its not. Scripture is written only to believersNo, your ideology continually ignores John 3:16, which is addressed to all sinners.
Prove where Paul is urging cooperation with the Holy Spirit, in order not to revert back to the natural mind.In 1Cor. 2 Paul urges Christians to cooperate with the HS rather than revert to the natural mind,
which is what you apparently are prone to do
Eternal life in the New Testament is not primarily a present‑tense spiritual quality but a future‑age reality rooted in the biblical hope of the aiōn—the coming age when God renews all things. Jesus and Paul consistently frame zōē aiōnios as life belonging to that future age, the life characteristic of God’s restored world. In that sense, “eternal life” means Ionian life—the kind of existence humans will experience in the Ion itself: resurrection life, Spirit‑saturated life, life free from sin, death, and corruption. Believers taste this life now through the Spirit, but its full meaning is anchored in the age to come. The New Testament’s point is that salvation places a person on the trajectory toward that future reality, granting them a share in the life that will define God’s new creation.Sorry, that is not the point of the passage at all, Paul concerned himself with exhorting the churches, reminding them either the benefits or consequences of behaviour, the end of the time of transition from one age to the next (Romans).
"Eternal life" if you dig deep into the etymology of the phrase actually is quality of life which again has to do with the the here and now.
I am actually a little surprised you are trying to make this leap to hell.
I would say that being let out of prison by the Holy Spirit is a pretty rare occasion. Was it equal opportunity that led to the jailer's conversion? The passage sure reads like a special occasion to me. Think of it. God sent the Jailer the greatest preacher, evangelist, and teacher in all of Christianity. And by some miracle, all the doors were opened. And by an even greater miracle, Paul and his men didn't leave. Just sayin'John 3:16, Acts 16:31.
Equal opportunity and equal privilege for all.
GRACE.
And get over it, Calvies are calvies. I am a Freegrace believer and get called all kinds of names.........Boo Hoo for me!
A spade can still be called a spade.
Why dont you show how they are not in harmony ? You cherry picked them. The poster isnt obligated to play scripture hopscotch with you,, Its on you to exegete those verses first, put the work in, and not push it off on someone else.
Its primarily both, its definitely a present tense possession as Per Jn 6:54Eternal life in the New Testament is not primarily a present‑tense spiritual quality but a future‑age reality rooted in the biblical hope of the aiōn
You not doing no work, you demanding it of others. Show us where you have done some workI work on tulip in the Resolving Problematic Interpretations of Scripture thread, because most folks on this thread do not seem to be interested in a systematic study with the dialectical goal of harmonizing all Scripture on the subject.
(Yes, I just told you where to go :^)
I like your choice of parables. It tells the whole story. The general call goes out and some respond while others don't. And yet, even among those who responded to the call, some were not worthy to sit at the table.Jesus did say many are called but few will be chosen, that is the conclusion of the parable of the wedding feast ill quote it here so the calvies can see;
Mat 22:1 And Jesus answered and spake again in parables unto them, saying,
Mat 22:2 The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,
Mat 22:3 and sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the marriage feast: and they would not come.
Mat 22:4 Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them that are bidden, Behold, I have made ready my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage feast.
Mat 22:5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;
Mat 22:6 and the rest laid hold on his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.
Mat 22:7 But the king was wroth; and he sent his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Mat 22:8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they that were bidden were not worthy.
Mat 22:9 Go ye therefore unto the partings of the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage feast.
Mat 22:10 And those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests.
Mat 22:11 But when the king came in to behold the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment:
Mat 22:12 and he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless.
Mat 22:13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and cast him out into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few chosen.
To have something, present tense, doesn't necessarily indicate that one has taken possession of it. The New Testament teaches that Eternal life is an inheritance. We have an inheritance, even though we have not yet taken possession of it.Its primarily both, its definitely a present tense possession as Per Jn 6:54
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
The Grammatical Argument (The Present Tense)
In the original Greek text, the word translated as "hath" is echei (ἔχει).
- Present Active Indicative: This is the present tense form of the verb echō (to have or possess).
- Current Possession: It means the person is actively possessing eternal life at this very moment. Jesus does not say they will have it (future tense), but that they currently have it as a present reality
Yes it does, thats what the word have means. The word is echo:To have something, present tense, doesn't necessarily indicate that one has taken possession of it.
Once we understand what Eternal life is really going to be like, there is no way we would agree that we have it now.Yes it does, thats what the word have means. The word is echo:
Possessing Salvation and Eternal Life
- to have, i.e. to hold
- to have (hold) in the hand, in the sense of wearing, to have (hold) possession of the mind (refers to alarm, agitating emotions, etc.), to hold fast keep, to have or comprise or involve, to regard or consider or hold as
- to have i.e. own, possess
John’s Gospel makes 2192 central to soteriology. “Everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). The present-tense “have” underscores eternal life as a present possession, not merely a future hope (John 3:36; John 6:47). 1 John echoes: “Whoever has the Son has life” (1 John 5:12). https://biblehub.com/greek/2192.htm
Yet Jesus said:Once we understand what Eternal life is really going to be like, there is no way we would agree that we have it now.
I tried to show you that in my view, "spiritually dead" doesn't refer to inability; it refers to unwillingness. Unbelief is not a matter of the intellect; it's a matter of the will. People don't believe because they don't want to believe.
A bird with a broken wing cannot fly, even if it desperately wanted to—that’s inability. But a healthy bird that simply refuses to fly is not unable; it’s unwilling. Scripture describes sinners in the second way. The Bible never portrays unbelief as a physical or metaphysical incapacity but as a hardness of heart—a stubborn resistance that must be softened, not an inability that must be overridden. When Paul speaks of people as “dead,” he is describing the seriousness of their condition, not the removal of their responsibility. The call to believe the gospel is meaningful precisely because the problem is unwillingness, not an inability that would make faith impossible.
Eternal life is knowing God and Jesus...John 17:3. That it comes with greater degree and blessing in glory doesn't negate its reality in the here and now.Once we understand what Eternal life is really going to be like, there is no way we would agree that we have it now.
