Yes but before he converted from Judaism he was always referred to as Saul, and after Paul, I was referring to acts after coversion
But he continued to be called "Saul" after his conversion. His conversion is recorded in Acts 9, but in Acts 13, wew read:

(Act 13:2 NKJV) As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."

Yes but that is irrelevant and a deflection from the point, after he converted he stopped persecuting Christians, that is the point.

Nobody 'converts', Jesus saves them.

John 3
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Sorry, I didn't mean to deflect or to be irrelevant. Am I correct in understanding that you didn't mean a change of names, but the change from an unconverted man brething hatred against followers of Jesus Christ to a Christian believer who asked Jesus what He wanted him to do?

I had posted that - It seems to me that "Christian history" holds murderous (either by their own hands or influence) Christians in high regard....
Talking about how people in high regard in church history persecuted others
Mageneta replied to it saying - Like Paul?
So my reply - Saul maybe but Paul was true to the faith
was meant to say after he became a Christian he did not persecute Christians anymore, he followed Christs will.
But because I made the mistake of saying he was known as Paul after he became a follower of Christ, that was jumped on rather than the point made.

off subject but - I've noticed a trend these days that tries to say Paul was not a true apostle, he was a deceiver preaching contrary to Christ. Them there is another trend that says the book of revelation should not be in the Bible, and these claims are from Christians. Seems they want to chip away at the Bible bit by bit.

Sorry I took so long to answer I am working in real and can only peep in now and then :)

Thanks for the Acts ref - I thought the name Saul was never mentioned again :)

Brilliant point.

I think you hurt their heads…..and pride with that clear question.

Should be fun watching them squirm for an answer.

All humanity are sinners in need of God's salvation from mortality and immorality (Rom. 3:23),
and God provides every soul opportunity to be saved to heaven in Christ as revealed (Rom. 6:23).
God initiates; souls cooperate--or not (Deut. 30:19, Matt. 23:37).
Too easy/obvious for tulipists.

In 2 Peter 2:5 you see a reference to those who are willingly ignorant. Many of the attacks here on Calvinism are closer to a willing ignorance expressed with belligerence, and in such a manner one questions if they come from a 'born again' person.

The following is from A. A. Hodge’s Outlines of Theology, and it was used by Charles H. Spurgeon in his school for the young preachers. As in any Calvinistic Systematic theology textbook, a scripture basis of the doctrines is given. Hodge was a Presbyterian and Spurgeon was a Baptist.

3. Prove that repentance is a grace or gift of God.

1st.
This is evident from the nature of repentance itself. It includes, (1) sense of the hatefulness of sin, (2) sense of the beauty of holiness, (3) apprehension of the mercy of God in Christ. It, therefore, presupposes faith, which is God’s gift. Galatians 5:22; Ephesians 2:8.

2nd. The Scriptures expressly affirm it.—Zechariah 12:10; Acts 5:31; 11:18; 2 Timothy 2:25.

These are the full texts of the verses listed above.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, (Gal 5:22, KJV)

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Eph 2:8, KJV

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. (Zech 12:10, KJV)

Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. (Acts 5:31, KJV)

When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. (Acts 11:18, KJV)

In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; (2Tim 2:25, KJV)

Making the accusation that people who believe the doctrines of grace, known by some as "Calvinism", believe that they are special, and that those who don't believe as they do are "scum" needs some kind of evidence. I believe the doctrines of grace, but I don't regard those who don't believe them as scum, and I have not seen any post from a believer in the doctrines of grace that says anything resembling "Look at me. I'm special. If you don't believe as I do, you are scum." Do you have evidence for your assertion?

There are always exceptions.

Whenever people who speak of their divine election/being uniquely and specially illuminated in ways that are outside of the scripture soteriology the "I am the special recipient of divine enabling" it is on display.

They are connected by default.

Yes, always finding a weakness in a statement, sometimes the person leaves a word out by mistake, uses a statement in

hyperbole or there is a lack in comprehending what the poster meant as part of the larger context of their post, all this on repeat.

How to Embrace Theological Snobbery 101.

It really is.
I suppose there is a reason the "Reformed" crew has a reputation for this, of course they are trying to polish up their act hoping to stem the mass exodus.
John Piper even has a blog post on it.

Prove that repentance is a grace or gift of God.

Metanoia is very clearly defined in Greek literature and also how it used in scripture.

It literally means to to turn away from towards something new ... also sometimes stated as a change of mind.

You should also take note that according to the original language of Koinee Greek, which is a gendered language .... the gift is salvation and faith is not part of the gift because the gender does not agree.

lol!

And YOUR soul cooperated with God because you are so much smarter, humble, and better than those souls that don’t cooperate with God!

You guys are so bursting with pride you are utterly blinded by it.

So keep “cooperating” and boasting before God!

Exceptions? I was replying to a post from Kroogz who had said "You are the special ones. We are scum.......Calvies in a nutshell." I was saying, that I have not seen anybody on Christian Chat who believes Calvinistic doctrines calling non-Calvinists "scum", or saying, "God chose me because I'm special." Are you saying that in your view, most Calvinists believe that non-Calvinists are scum, but there might bs some exceptions?

GW urges everyone to cooperate with God, including your soul (1Tim. 2:3-4).
