Hey, My intentions on CC are not to debate or study theology here (well I could but there is no need) , purely to talk to others and see how other christians are.

My family are all athiest/agnostic, so I dont have any role model to look upto in faith, so looking how others are could help me understand how I should act
Hi Adamtheboi09,

The first thing about Christianity from the Bible point of view is that it's not about how you should act.
It's about what we should >Believe.<
The biggest promise in the Bible is imparted only to those who believe in one Person.
The same word is stated exactly 💯 times in the one book written about this subject.

Welcome to the forum!

No. Capital C Catholic is the Roman Catholic Church. Small c catholic means universal.
Well I didn't know that, Cameron. Back in my early Christian days, Catholic meant a very evil organization that slaughtered thousands of Christians in the middle ages and has deceived millions of people into following and paying money to a dead faith... I won't go on, you get the idea.

Roman catholic, its why I did the Vatican emoji
I was raised Catholic. When I was saved I started attending a Catholic church. I left after a short period of time. There are some matters of doctrine they hold that are not biblical. We can talk about them if you are interested.

I mean, we could, but most doctrine that isn't from the Bible, came from church tradition.

When pentecost happened, and the holy spirit lived in the apostles, was the oral tradition or doctrine they spread, from God or man?
Anything they wrote that is included in scripture is from God. But Peter obviously didn't get everything right because Paul corrected him.

Perhaps it would be easier if you asked concerning particular doctrines.

It was from God and from themselves (Man).
God used those fishermen and other ordinary men to explain to the unbelievers around them that the signs and wonders that were taking place were not caused by drinking new wine, but by the power of the risen Christ whom those people had crucified, working through those men whom God filled with His truth and enabled them to speak the Word of God with boldness and Holy Spirit power.

If I can be more specific, God's truth and doctrine was able to flow unhindered through those men who had their entire beings purified and empowered by the Holy Ghost and all the Word that Jesus had spoken to them. They did not make stuff up, but God chose to use them to expound the Word, both the old scriptures and these new scriptures.

Are you a member of catholicforum.com Adam? In my own mind I am still trying to work out just what would draw a new Catholic, to join a Christian forum. Who knows, perhaps you will find helpful and rich blessings here, with good sound doctrine, the fellowship of warm-hearted believers in Christ, and a wonderful newfound faith in the risen Jesus Christ and God who sent Him (not faith in His mother Mary and certainly not a belief in any pope). Ye must be born again, brother!

Oh you're welcome 🤗
That isn't quite what I meant (that catholic forum is not a version of this site) but you'll figure out what suits you. Maybe you can spend some time on each forum?

^ Gospel of John is often recommended as a great place to start reading the Bible.
This movie is a word-for-Word portrayal of John's gospel.

Also, please check out the Alpha Course.

There are 10 videos total, answering a lot of questions about faith, Christianity historically and in the modern
world, the estate of man, and God's design for humans. I hope you watch them. They could benefit you greatly
