yes sir I have come across this as well, but the way the modern day Jews pronounce it is with a strong V as in 'VEH'. Which makes sense, since the Hebrew alphabet for V is 'Vav', but it stopped making sense to me since I found out that there are many sources on this Sumerian/Ancient Near east pagan deity who is identified as a Storm 'god' named Yahweh. There are also photos of this deity in idol form, which could NOT be the LORD of the Old Testament, since He is clearly and absolutely against idols.
Then just simply identify him as the Creator of the universe. YHWH means "I am who I am", eternal being unto himself.

Again, your OPINION does not make something true.

I am that I am is a translation of a Hebrew phrase. It has a meaning, just like YEHOVAH has a meaning.. It does NOT mean Creator Of The Universe.. It means 'Self-Existent/Eternal God'.

To the Muslims, Allah is the creator of the universe.

Should we then refer to The LORD of the Old testament as Allah?

Make it make sense please..

It is the scripture, not my opinion. My opinion is that you personally take offense by the name YEHOVAH for whatever reason and deliberately associate it with pagan deities.

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ (Ex. 3:14)

BTW, I'm very disappointed at this futile attitude. What we should do is questioning this absurd reality we're living in, trying to make sense of it through the lens of the bible, instead of questioning the bible and trying to make sense of the bible itself.

I take offense to people calling The LORd 'yahweh'.. not YEHOVAH. Are you even paying attention?

If you really follow scripture and not opinion, then you shouldn't be teaching or sharing your opinion, since Paul forbids women to teach. Hows that?

You're disappointed? That's cool. Again, your feelings and opinions have no value.

You're in a post in a forum that's called Bible Discussion, and you're questioning why people are having these discussions?

Are you mentally retarded?

Theology, which is the study of religious texts, mainly the Old and New Testament has existed long before science.

But like I said, the internet has given every clown an opinion by giving them freedom to respond to everything.

You might as well be Muslim then.. Why aren't you? They believe in one God and in Jesus too!

If you want peace without arguments or questions, quit the forum, quit the internet, worship God alone without discussing anything with anyone else!

That's just a matter of semantics, both "yahweh" and "yehovah" are Anglicanized pronounciation of the Lord's personal name. It's been more than a decade that people take offense by certain trigger words.

Well, neither are yours. Ex. 3:14 is the word of God, "I AM" is the Lord's name, take it or leave it. I have no idea what you're up to with this.

It's NOT interchangable, and it's not the same thing, like I said.. I don't think you are coherent enough to even understand the argument.

THERE IS ANOTHER DEITY FROM THE ANCIENT NEAR EAST CALLED YAHWEH. Therefore, Yahweh CANNOT BE THE SAME AS Yehovah.

I don't think you understand the difference between a 'translation' and a 'transLITERATION' either.

Just because you were taught certain things since your childhood in church, does not make it the absolute truth.

Stop embarrassing yourself woman. I know you might be lonely and are seeking some kind of engagement, but there are other subjects you can go do that in.

This is my source. A Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon.

If ur using A.I and Wikipedia, you might as well become Muslim! Since that's what they use to verify their scriptures..

Do you understand how A.I algorithms and models work?

Don't be mad at me because you didn't do enough studying. Show me where in the Old Testament the word 'Yahweh" is mentioned.

I'M NOT ASKING FOR 'YHWH'.. I'm asking for 'YAHWEH'. 2 different things. Don't tell me about the 'name that cant be pronounced'.

If it cant be pronounced, then how did the OT prophets call upon the 'name of the LORD'? Did they hum it? Did they sing it?

Just because you have AN OPINION, it does not warrant you to give it when it comes to a subject matter you are unfamiliar with.. But I guess that's just the consequences of the internet and giving everyone access to it eh? :p

The astute will realize that your source is an opinion, and your opinion about it is just that--an opinion.
What in your opinion in your source says something significantly different from what AI/Wikipedia say?
As Gideon said/opined: no one knows, so let us not be quick to judge!

PS/BTW, Wikipedia is a good source/cites sources, but no source is perfect.
All human opinion is fallible, even our testing per 1Thes. 5:21, so let us have humility.
And with regard to your OP: what difference does it make/so what?

Psst, I'm neither woman nor muslim, sir. I wonder what gives you the idea. If you're offended by the name yahweh, just drop it and forget about it. I assure you, I'm not here to defend it or to debate with you, and I don't call the Lord either yahweh or yahovah.

so why are you replying to this post then? That's my question. Ur just making yourself dumb by trying to prove me wrong, and then claiming that ur not here to defend or debate it. I posted it to discuss this issue with others.

Oh I assumed ur a woman because ur logic and thought patterns reflect one. My bad.

Wow, its astounding... The level of comprehension we're dealing with here.

Alright I'm going to educate you like a child.. Books go through an editorial process where sources need to be verified before hundreds of thousands of prints are published.. Therefore, they are more reliable. Earlier sources are also more reliable, which is why they are called 'primary sources'.

ALSO, I mentioned numerous times.. That there is a pagan storm 'god'/deity that goes by the name Yahweh... Therefore, how can this be the same as YEHOVAH/The LORD of the Old Testament?

You're spewing all kinds of garbage and New Testament verses without actually adressing my question or the subject in matter.

We're talking about Old Testament. The only time YEHOVAH is mentioned in the New Testament, is when the name of JESUS is mentioned, which is a transliteration of the Hebrew word 'YEHOSHUA', which is a combination of 2 different words, 1 of them being Yehovah.

Do you now understand, my child?

The only dumb thing is losing your composure over a trigger word. You don't like the term yahweh, drop it and forget about it. I don't like it either.

I'm asking for explanations to why YEHOVAH is being replaced with YAHWEH. What's dumb about that?

You tried to act smart with absolutely nothing smart to say in a forum called Bible Discussion, and ur asking me to drop it and forget about it?

Your simple mind cannot comperehend or understand the subject, so don't participate and stay out of it. Don't tell me not to question it.

Ignorance is bliss, to fools.. Be a fool by yourself..

And what is this 'trigger word' you keep mentioning? Did you make this up by yourself?

Thanks for proving that most Christians today are lukewarm fools who believe without looking into the Scriptures.

Not my fault some people need ABSOLUTE PROOF to believe, and don't blindly believe.

You talk like a pope, but lobbing pejoratives doesn't cut it/qualify as edifying.
Earlier sources are preferred, but this does not mean they are perfect.
May I suggest you forget your OT comprehension and focus on the NT revelation?
That/the Gospel is what matters.

Neither is explicitly used in any common translation of the bible, God's name appeared as "I AM" in Ex. 3:14, afterward it's usually "the Lord", and that's the titles what most people use when referring to God.

Since you like using Wikipedia as a source, let me refute it for you using Wikipedia.

So you are claiming, that YEHOVAH, The LORD God, who made the heavens & the earth in the beginning, is the same as this Yahweh?

Who is ascribed an image, and consorts?

If you actually study the Book of Kings, you will see that Israel and Judah backslid to worshipping idols like Baal and Asherah, Asteroth, but that does not make them The LORD GOD.

Study your Old Testament more before you try to refute things you have not looked into.

Such rubbish. Just because you are not educated in the matter, now you're shifting to the New Testament?

Since you're so familiar with the New Testament, you do know that Jesus Christ himself EXCLUSIVELY quotes the Old Testament numerous times.. From Deuteronomy, Exodus, Psalms, Isaiah, and Jeremiah.

So what are you babbling about?

He also said that he didn't come to destroy the law, and that not one jot or tittle will change until all be accomplished.

And if the OT was irrelevant, why does He refer to Himself as The Son of David? Is David New Testament?

LMAO. Some people really need to learn to be silent and not poke their noses into things they are not familiar with, instead of trying to refutee things they don't understand. THIS DISCUSSION ISN'T FOR YOU, EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE ACCESS TO COMMENT AND PARTICIPATE IN IT.

Do you understand?

Talk like a pope? Sorry, I don't ascribe to Cat-holics, neither do I pray or give any respect to any pope, since you are such a New Testament guy, I will quote The Lord Jesus in saying "Call no man on earth Father".

Now ur just straight up lying.. Disgusting.. You do know everyone that views this can see that ur lying right?

The LORD (YEHOVAH) is used over 6,000 times in the Old Testament, and ur here giving us ur OPINION on his name being 'I AM", which is NOT A NAME, it is 2 different words 'hayah', 'asher', 'hayah', which is an expression. Not a name.

So when Jesus said "Before Abraham was, I am".. Is this then a new name for Jesus?

Seriously, you should stop.. You're just making it worse for yourself with every reply.. LMAO.

You're either Catholic, Muslim, or someone who has not STUDIED The Bible enough. READING IS NOT THE SAME AS STUDYING.

(Exodus 3:15) And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

The LORD GOD
= YEHOVAH ELOHIM

you're really bad about Old Testament theology.. so go and study, before you speak and try to refute others who have done the work... Have some shame and humility in your lack of knowledge.. Understand what you say before you speak. Especially on the internet, since it cannot be removed or deleted.
