Since you like using Wikipedia as a source, let me refute it for you using Wikipedia.

So you are claiming, that YEHOVAH, The LORD God, who made the heavens & the earth in the beginning, is the same as this Yahweh?

Who is ascribed an image, and consorts?

If you actually study the Book of Kings, you will see that Israel and Judah backslid to worshipping idols like Baal and Asherah, Asteroth, but that does not make them The LORD GOD.

Study your Old Testament more before you try to refute things you have not looked into.

The astute will notice that Wikipedia says "many scholars think...", which is a true statement,
implying that other scholars think differently--which I presume includes you and me.

I am thinking/claiming that the One Lord God Being/Creator/Word/Spirit was incarnate as Jesus.
What do you claim/think/opine?

You do know that Wikipedia entries can be edited right? And they have been caught red-handed editing entries?

So my question is, how can you then rely on it, brother? Not that it's a dumb source or whatever. If something is fallible, how can it be relied upon?

Hahaha.. Also what's up with this 'astute' thing.. Is it just a term u enjoy using? I have no problem with it, but I just want to understand what you mean by 'the astute'.. Is this how you refer to scholars, academics, or just those educated in this subject? Please clarify so I can understand your responses better.

What scholars, or what you and me think does not matter, IN MY OPINION.. However, what the Scripture connects in the Old and New, and how it verifies and testifies of itself, is what matters.. Since The LORD Jesus said "The Scripture CANNOT BE BROKEN".

Therefore, we have absolute confidence and trust in The Word of God, as the final authority.. Dont get me wrong, im not advocating 'Sola Scriptura'. It just sounds the same..

As far as you saying The Lord GOD incarnate is Jesus Christ, I ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH YOU 100%.

You see, In Exodus, when they went up to Sinai to see The LORD God, they said "Let us not see or hear God, or else we die."

No man can see God and live after that.. Not even Moses, who asked the LORD to see Him. And The LORD himself said, no Man can see God in his true shape/form and live.. Which is why He came as a man, so we can relate, see Him, and have communion with Him.

You must also understand that there is a huge supernatural factor in The Bible since Genesis 6, where the angels who saw the daughters of men and had children from them, are being addressed to in the Scriptures..

Which is why He came in the seed of Abraham, and not as a Spirit, to show us that He is on OUR SIDE, He is WITH US (IMMANUEL), and that he is AGAINST the angels that sinned.

Isn't it so beautiful?

The problem with a lot of bible studies or teachings is their REFUSAL to address Gensis 6. You cannot truly understand Scripture without addressing this issue.

Dr. Michael Heiser is an excellent source on this, and even he as a Biblical Hebrew Scholar, has said that he had to completely re-learn and look a the Bible from a completely different lense after taking into consideration the events of Genesis 6 and how it was continued after Genesis 6. The whole conquest of Canaan is in relation to that.. The battle of the giants, wiping them out.

IT'S DEEP MAN!!

Why is this so important to you? It sounds like you have an agenda.
Oh btw, my agenda is to show that there is CLEAR DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE DEITY KNOWN AS 'YAHWEH', and The LORD GOD of the Old Testament who is known as 'Ye-Ho-Vah El-O-Him'.

How are you a Christian and not know this? I guess it's because you think Genesis 6 is the Sons of Seth who married the Daughters of Cain eh? :P

For all your so-called knowledge, you don't seems to have a clue about what it means to be a Christian.

Let me guess, ur going to quote me some New Testament scripture on what it means to be Christian?

Please keep it within context.

You came into my post, regarding a question on Old Testament subjects, in a forum called Bible Discussion..

And ur asking me why I am asking these things, and what is my agenda, and telling me I have no idea what it means to be a Christian?

A time and place for everything my friend, this isn't the place or the time for you to be preaching The Gospel, this is a forum for people to discuss Bible related matters.

If you have no valuable input on the subject, JUST STAY OUT OF IT. What's so difficult to understand about that?

Just because YOU CAN respond to something, DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE TO.

Am I being un-Christian like now? :P

oh BTW, Dr. Michale Heiser also uses the word Yahweh, which is quite peculiar to me, but a few people have told me that this is just an American thing.. And also he did go to seminary and learn about these things from Jesuits, so just because he found a great way to point out and highlight the supernatural aspect of The Bible, that doesn't mean he's right about EVERYTHING.

my bad, i mistakenly said the english word for JESUS CHRIST is Rabbi, what i meant to say is the Greek translation of Lord to English is Rabbi..
No, "Rabbi" is not "Lord" but "teacher" or "master.":

(Mat 23:8 NKJV) But you, do not be called 'Rabbi'; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren.

The New Testament Greek for "Lord" is "kurios."

From what I've seen no one has any valuable input on the subject but you, lol. You would've been better off to just start a teaching thread than to ask a question and then shoot down everything anyone says.

I said nothing about the word "Lord" not being spoken. As a mark of respect and reverence, Jews did not say the name YHWH. They said "Adonai" which means "Lord" instead.
Im not asking about the respect or reverence of the Jews and how they felt about pronouncing the name of God.

"Yahweh" is pronounced just like it's spelt. So how are they resorting to not pronouncing the name of The LORD which is "YEHOVAH", by changing it to 'Yahweh'?

It makes no sense.. And again, the term 'called upon the name of the LORD" is used over over in the Old Testament, so how do they call upon a God who's name that cannot be pronounced? Help me out here.. I'm not trying to be a d!ck, I'm trying to understand the logic behind your statement.. That's all..

Yes, Adonai/Adonoy does mean Lord, and is used as a proper name for God in ancient Hebrew, but 'Baal' also means Lord in Hebrew.. so is Baal The LORD GOD?

You see how there's a problem here? This is what I'm trying to get to the bottom of..

For the record, this is an open forum. Anyone is free to ask anyone anything as long as it's not against the rules. If you don't like my questions, you should just not respond to them.
But you didn't come in with any valuable input..

You came in asking me why im so concerned about the subject, and claiming I have an agenda..

Isn't that right?

Everything I've shot down is with questions in return, not with just claims of my opinion.

How dumb are you? You came into MY POST, and started posting garbage that has nothing to do with the subject, and you're telling me it's an open forum and I shouldn't respond to your questions?

You'd make a really good Muslim my friend.. Perhaps its time for a change of heart :P

Now ur just straight up lying.. Disgusting.. You do know everyone that views this can see that ur lying right?

The LORD (YEHOVAH) is used over 6,000 times in the Old Testament, and ur here giving us ur OPINION on his name being 'I AM", which is NOT A NAME, it is 2 different words 'hayah', 'asher', 'hayah', which is an expression. Not a name.

So when Jesus said "Before Abraham was, I am".. Is this then a new name for Jesus?

Seriously, you should stop.. You're just making it worse for yourself with every reply.. LMAO.

You're either Catholic, Muslim, or someone who has not STUDIED The Bible enough. READING IS NOT THE SAME AS STUDYING.
"the Lord" is, "YEHOVAH" is not, and neither is "yahweh". Again, you don't like it, ignore it. Use "Lord God" instead.
(Exodus 3:15) And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

The LORD GOD
= YEHOVAH ELOHIM

you're really bad about Old Testament theology.. so go and study, before you speak and try to refute others who have done the work... Have some shame and humility in your lack of knowledge.. Understand what you say before you speak. Especially on the internet, since it cannot be removed or deleted.
You're really bad by distracting yourself with trivial matters.

how can there be different translations, if the original is YEHOVAH?

lol.. so people have created this new translation of 'yahweh' to Yehovah.

If my name is Robert, and some people call me Bob, but some people call me Bubba..

My original name is still Robert.. regardless of what they call me. This is my point..
As I understand it, Hebrew was written without consonants. So the "original" would have been "YHWH", known as the tetragrammaton." It only became "Jehovah" when scribes inserted vowels from "Adonai" (my Lord) into "YHWH." (Not sure where the e came from).

What the hell are you babbling about??

It's not about what I like or don't like.. You still don't get the question or topic being discussed do you??

I assume there is a language barrier here, and English isn't your first language, which is fine, but please stay out of it.

Well, David..

Tetragrammaton is a term invented by Kabbalists, who are Pharisees, Orthodox Judaics, who reject and deny The Messiah, and have a different understanding and exposition of the Torah. They use the Talmud..

Jesus Christ says The only way to The Father (God Almighty) is through Him..

The Kaballists say its through their Sephiroth and other false teachings..

So their explanation cannot be taken seriously, because The Old Testament should prophesize and give evidence OF The Messiah, not reject it.

These people are very smart, they even convinced the Romans to crucify Christ, being the religious leaders and advisors of the time, and having their opinions and testimonies as divine..

(Matthew 23:1) Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,

(Matthew 23:2) Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

(Matthew 23:3) All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

I am not an ancient Israelite, so I do not know the complete story. They saw YHWH as too sacred to spell out. That word was replaced with "Lord". Baal means Lord but in the same way as modern usage in the UK, where there are Lords still. Israelites succumbed to Baal worship so its not surprising if they considered Baal as Lord. No one in the UK considers "Lord" as anything but a formal title, except perhaps some of the Lords themselves.
