I considered baby sitting/daycare as a business in my own home, but realised, well, Dad still living there, mum's house currently unliveable would need a lot of renovation although seems pretty childproof (i.e toddlers could crayon all over the walls and it wouldn't matter, it's fenced, and there's no wild dogs or dingos roaming the neighbhourhood)

I rang up about it and it seemed all good but when they asked 'had I changed a nappy' I'm like....um...nooo
Of course it would be easy to learn but ...not sure that I like doing that all the time plus the smell. I couldn't do it for my mum but she was of course an adult. She had to have two nurses helping her do that. I wash my own undies though and change them every day.

Sigh... back to the drawing board. Yea the realities of having children - toilet training, vomit, urine, poos, crying, fighting, pestering...

Wow, so what do you do for a living?
I sort of didn't put prayer as an option on my poll because I thought EVERYONE prayed when they needed a job to find the right one that pays well.
It doesn't mean that job will last forever, some jobs are not like that.
 
Well I saw this job that I thought I could do but I haven't applied yet. I need to get my CV in order, which is a job in itself.
It's working in a bookstore. It is a warehouse and has a small bookshop attached. Basically it's picking and packing, sort of like a mini, local version of Amazon when it used to be just books.

It's not too far away from where I live but I'd need to drive to and from work. I just wonder if maybe I'd get to use a forklift in this job, to lift all those books. And I don't know how much it pays, but if it's like most companies, for this kind of casual part time work I can't expect much above the minimum, which for an adult, is now $23 and hour or thereabouts.

So far, I'm all talk and no action. Just been busy doing stuff, and maybe spending way too much time on CC, to contemplate going back to work. The workforce and I do not always get along. In this job, I may not need to talk with lots of people while working, and can probably listen to podcasts on earbuds all day, or to whatever is playing in the warehouse, as long as it's not too annoying.

Also, I'd be on my feet, so need a good pair of shoes. I just fall asleep in sit-down jobs. And if I don't have my afternoon nap or a decent lunch break, I am useless, so if they don't provide food or have a canteen or a decent staffroom with a couch, I'm like no, I don't think I can do this job. I'd be a terrible employee.

If I get to visit different libraries, which I did in my last job, I'd be happy, and drive a bookmobile. But those jobs are rare as hens teeth.
 
I went to Maccas the other day to have lunch. I'm not thinking of working there, but on the way I saw the mobile library was parked in the parking lot, so I went inside and the librarians were parked there because there's a new school in the building next door to McDonalds that doesn't have a library.

Was chatting with the driver, and then thinking, my original dream job was to work in this bus, but I never got my heavy vehicle license, so ...but I have helped out on the bus for a day, and it was a lot of fun. They also have vans now which are smaller.

So...what do you think, should I apply if something comes up? The librarian who was driving it before retired.

I am a bit apprehensive of returning to the public library again but they assured me that the pay is now better, they got their pay parity/equity, so they are not in the same position as librarians in schools. They just went up a band. A band is a level of pay.

Also I would be seeing/working with a lot of old workmates again.

If I was not working in a library or bookshop, I would consider working at McDonalds, but I think I'd actually prefer Wendys or Hell Pizza. I mean I am going to eventually need to earn real money lol.
 
So far...no encouragement, should I just say I'm husband hunting instead. Would that be a more respectable/acceptable job for a single Christian woman? Idk
 
mm OK looks like there are no more vacancies at the Book warehouse. Or the library, unless I'm willing to travel half an hour there and back.

When I was first starting out, you found situations vacant ads in the newspapers, and there would be pages and pages of them. In the classifieds.

Now in the newspapers (my dad still subscribes, plus he used to work for them) there is only one or two, mostly for delivering the newspaper, and the rest of the ads are for 'adult entertainment'
Nobody bothers to put in birth notices anymore, the only personal ads are now death notices.

And of course no men seeking woman or women seeking men for ltr - long-term relationship

So yea back to the drawing board.
I'm supposing I could always work at a foodbank. At least I'll have food, right?
 
Botanic gardens...but my nearest one is 40 minutes away :rolleyes:
They do plant trials and have a visitor centre. If did plant trials, I could trial different kinds of potatoes or maybe...tomatoes?
Customer service at the visitors centre I imagine would just be answering queries such as 'where is the toilet?'

I'd only do this job if I could live in a treehouse on site. But I don't think they rent theirs out.
 
i'm a stay-at-home-mom. my previous job outside the home, i applied online and did 2 interviews. i started working there January 2021 and stayed until November 2022. my last day was the day i went into labor lol.

i've been trying to figure out a way to make some kind of income while at home that doesn't take my time away from my family. so if anyone has any ideas how i can make money without actually doing anything, i'd appreciate it. LOL.

Tradwife you-tuber, then you get money from subscribers clicks on your annoying ads at the start of your vids. You just have to consent to being filmed doing housework, babysitting, or watching soap operas in your best apron.

I mean you got this! Hubby can help with the filming, if he can set up your webcam/super intelligent phone

Unfortunately, I can't do this job as I don't have a tradhusband
