It does this between every verse, and if I quote a larger passage it cites the quoted material right in the middle of the verse quotation:

New Bodies​

5 For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. 2&nbsp;We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. 3&nbsp;For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies.[<a href="https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2 Corinthians 5&amp;version=NLT#fen-NLT-28841a" title="See footnote a">a</a>] 4&nbsp;While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. &nbsp; is HTML code for a space - and the link and the spaces code might of been carried over from the web page you pasted from ? Try pasting to plain text document first, then copy from that to get rid of the coding.

I have the same problem, and I always backspace to remove those letters. Does anybody know a website that I can cut & paste scripture from where that problem doesn't exist? I normally like to quote from the KJV.​

Sorry, I spoke too fast. I don't know what I was thinking but Bible Hub does basically the same thing as BibleGateway. I just use Ctrl + Shift + V and paste as plain text. I forgot I do that. You'll just have to try it and see what milage you get out of it.

I highlight the text and select copy from the dropdown menu so that it copies to my clipboard then I return to paste it and go from there. I wasn't aware that there was any other way.

If you copy the text from BibleGateway then paste as plain text this is what you get. At least that's what I get.

Just a little bit more info - 'nbsp' stands for "no break space", and it is used to prevent what is directly before and after it to be "broken" at the end of a line - it forces line wraps to keep the before and after together and not split them apart. As an example - a 'nbsp' placed directly between a verse number and the first word in the verse should keep the verse number with the first word of the verse - not allowing the number to be by itself at the end of a line while the first word gets wrapped around to the next line.

As for a solution - @Drich - you are probably going to have to find a way to paste in plain text. Try this (if you are able to in the context of the platform you are on) - right-click somewhere over the text edit area of the [CC] editor (or perform a key sequence, etc. if you cannot do that) to get a pop-up menu - see if there is an option called 'Paste Without Formatting' and try using that.

You are more than welcome to try copying scripture text from the pages on my web site (mywebsite.us). You may see extra spaces between the end of each verse and the verse number of the next verse when you paste it into the CC editor; however, when you 'Preview' or 'Post reply' - the extra spaces are removed. See if it works for you.

If you copy the text (from my website or anywhere else) into a plain-text-only editor of some kind - then, recopy what you just pasted into the editor and paste into the CC editor - like others have also said, that should leave you with only text and normal spaces.
