Hi everyone - I am really struggling. I felt like God told me that if I did a particular sin again then he would no longer forgive me. I had struggled off and on with this sin for 30 years. I ended up failing and now cannot seem to find God anymore and do not know what to do. I have been trying to see in scripture if God would finally cut someone off from Him and found the scriptures in Hebrews 12 and others regarding crossing a line with forgiveness. I do not want to lose Him. Please pray for me.

You are believing the devil's lie. When God forgives, He forgets (Hebrews 12:8). So each time we sin, from God's point of view it is the first time. The real sin is doubt and unbelief.
Satan is the accuser of the brethren. God has already justified you in Christ. He has declared you righteous in Christ. Anyone who tells you that they never sin is a liar.
How do we overcome Satan's accusations? There are three aspects:
By the precious blood of Christ
By the word of our testimony - about the power of the blood to cleanse sin
By not loving our lives to the point of death.
You will find this is Revelation 12
Read Romans 8. There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus. There is a full stop after that sentence. The King James translators added something that has confused believers for centuries.
Start thanking God for His mercy, grace and love. His mercies are new every morning. His grace is always sufficient. I'm pushed for time, so I'll invite you to look up the Bible verses.
Hebrews 12 is sobering, but it is written to Hebrew believers who are tempted to go back to the ritual temple sacrifices. If your sin bothers you, you are not lost. It's when you no longer care that you are in real trouble.
Remember that God's hatred for sin is because of a number of aspects:
- First, we lose fellowship with God. He created us in His image so that He could have a family. That's why He is the Heavenly Father.
- Sin hurts us. It is destructive. When we sin, our conscience is defiled and we become spiritually weak.
- Sin offends God's holiness. Yet God loves you still. Jesus died for you while you were a sinner. He did not wait for you to become "good". No one would ever be saved if that was the case.
Thank you very much for this. I went to church tonight and they had communion. While taking communion, I was praying and asking God if he washes me white as snow and felt as if He said "I do".

There are clear and concrete promises recorded in the Bible about salvation.
I would take a few minutes to pray and ask God for help to know. Open your Bible and go through this brief study with this pastor. Just pause or rewind and read along. I'm hear to answer an question that comes up.

Are the spirits that are telling you that you are condemned, able to confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Savior who came in the flesh and rose again after death?
Go to Him, you can't lose your salvation. I've had Him ignore me more than once. God works in mysterious ways, ways that never fail. We are just the clay.
