Hey Everyone!

We've traveled the world
Handing Whangdoodles defeat!
But now everyone is hungry
And it's time to go out to eat!

Our Christian Chat Friendship Group has certainly been having a full round of adventure --but as much as we love our air/road trip snacks and seafare buffets, it's time to sit down for a proper feast!

And so...

1. What kind of meal will we be gathering for?

(I'm also up for snacks of any kind at any and all times -- just saying...)





2. What kind of restaurant will we be going to?

Fast food, sit-down (where you order and they bring the check,) buffet, hot pot, hibachi, etc.?

I have a feeling @Bible_Locket and @Tall_Timbers are going to go for the gusto with some ten-star, $$$$$$ suggestions! BUT, we're just dreaming, so it's all good!! Why, I might even have to put on real pants, dang nab it! (I prefer shorts and/or pajama pants whenever I can get away with it!)


3. Speaking of attire, what kind of outfit will you be wearing?

Even if we don't go to a fancy place, people who like to dress up are welcome to dress up if that's their fancy!







4. And of course, the MOST IMPORTANT question of all -- what type of cuisine will we be eating?!





5. Bonus question -- if we went to an Asian restaurant -- would you use chopsticks?!!

You'll have to count me out for this one -- I might "look" Asian, but I prefer a good old American pick axe and shovel! (fork and spoon)

My family always had that joke about me, too -- that I could be at a first-class establishment -- and still order a cheeseburger!!

What can I say, cheeseburgers are their own food group!!

And I would most likely be wearing a cartoon t-shirt.

(If I were rich enough to eat at a $$$$$$ restaurant, I'd hope I would also be rich enough to wear whatever I want and still be let in!)

We don't have dress codes in restaurants in NZ.
I think in some RSAs though, they specify no gumboots and jandals.

As for the type of restaurant, you can't beat a good Chinese Seafood restaurant that also has yum cha lunch. A good Chinese restaurant has plenty of Chinese diners, round tables with jacquard or white table cloths, lazy susans, hot jasmine or other chinese tea in little china cups, and a tank full of live crayfish.
There will be a double happy Chinese character on the wall, and maybe some golden dragons and phoenixes.
The bill is always one per table, no splitting.
Always has bowls, chopsticks, and those china soup spoons. (but you can ask for forks if necessary)
The food will be fresh and hot and delicious.

You need at least 5 people for a decent yum cha, and can fit maybe up to 12 at a big round table.
For a banquet you are looking at least 6 course meal. Rice always served with the meal. Soup appetiser, and fresh fruit for dessert. The mains will be various dishes, and you share, no individual portions, you can take as much or as little as you can eat.

The traditional yum cha will have trolleys come round to your table, full of steaming bamboo baskets of dim sum. The dim sum menu will always include siu mai, spring rolls, and har gow. And sticky rice. I can translate for you but most menus will have descriptions in English, however with the yum cha, you just point to what you want and the waitress/waiter will plonk the basket which will have 3-4 dim sum each on the table.

This is a very different way of eating to European style restaurants. In Chinese restaurants, its ok to burp after a meal. The only rude thing you can do is not use your chopsticks properly. You can talk as loud as you want, or just eat, it doesn't matter. The point is you are all eating together and being full afterwards. Children are allowed in restaurants..

So... If there's a live crayfish tank, do you get to pick out the ones you want cooked and brought to your table?!

Yes..you pick the one you want. The smaller ones are tastier. It will be expensive though you are looking at least $148 a kilo.
They will cook it for you, bring it to your table, and chop it up into portion sizes you can pick up with your chopsticks, to share with everyone at the table.

I tried a Korean restaurant once where you have to bbq your own food at the table. Or you could hotpot it, which means you have a bubbling wok of soup/water on a gas stove on your table, and dip food in it to cook.

Mongolian restaurants also do this type of service. Or you take the ingredients that you want and they fry it for you on the spot in a central grill/hot plate. Like noodles etc then you add the sauces you want. Sort of like how Subway make up sandwiches for you.

Just think if we opened a restaurant for Whangdoodles! (A place for Whangdoodles to dine.)

Why, we could offer them a FULL menu of things they'd gobble right up, like Dirt Pie (because apparently, Whangdoodles like to be dirty,) and Toenail Soup (is that their favorite part of a human?)

And, we couldn't forget to give them a DOUBLE helping of DEFENESTRATION for dessert!! Doesn't that just sound divine?

Why spend all our time chasing down the little rascals when we could just lure them in!!!

Another fun, imaginative thread, @seoulsearch!

I like dresses, so depending on whether it's a casual or a more formal meal, I will dress up or dress down.

I am open to trying different cuisines cause I will have a hidden pack of Indian snacks in my purse for hunger or wrong-choice-of-food emergencies!

I am trying to learn how to use chopsticks. Note: I am yet to start

Since we are going all out with our imagination, how about we book a private jet and fly to different countries for different meals of the day?

If they get too fat, then they are less likely to be hangry.

I think they'd enjoy leftovers like dogs like bones.

Food for Whangdoodles -- mud pie, chicken feet, Mosetarian meatballs, lamb flaps, duck tails, tripe, and brussel sprouts.

What shall we call this restaurant Seoul? Brilliant idea BTW.

Gluttonous Gloops?
Or...Whangnoodles? They could have worms as noodles/spaghetti and it would be ok to slurp them, and we could have bibs for them as dresscode.

They can have coffee grounds for a snack, deep fried.

Back in college, I had a friend who was adopted from India. Her family always celebrated her adoption day, and took us out to an Indian buffet.

I can't remember what all I tried, but I would definitely be interested in learning more about Indian food!

Don't worry, I can't use chopsticks either!! I have always said that the reason Asian people are so small is because chopsticks only let you eat about 3 grains of rice at a time!

I'm Korean but am adopted and grew up in the USA, so a fork and spoon is my literal bread and butter.

I love that you are so open to trying cuisines from around the world!

And if Whangdoodles like brussel sprouts... I hate to admit it, but this MIGHT be their one redeeming quality. I can't say I'd have much against creatures that help save the world from the dreaded Brussel Sprout Scourge!
