No, we’re the image of God so we should theoretically be perfect? *However* eating the forbidden fruit ruined that for all of humanity. That’s my take. Thoughts?

Those who trust in Jesus as Lord are saved or positionally perfect as they seek to cooperate with His Holy Spirit and become more like Christ morally.
Having a brother-in-law who is a Christian trans paranoid schizophrenic, I think God allows errors of mental illness to occur, and our responsibility is to support finding the cause and a cure.
Yea, error manifests in all kinds of ways in His creation. For example, believing (which happens in the mind) wrongly from, to say the least, misleading influences, such as with Eve and the serpent. God helps us 'take thoughts captive' so that they don't sink into our heart as easily as they would without Him, while also helping us take hold of, and 'absorb' into our hearts, His Word that heals and 'quickens' us.
